Effects of Nickel Supports on Hydrogen Permeability of Vanadium based Membrane (니켈 지지체를 이용한 바나듐기 분리막의 수소 투과특성)

  • The separation of hydrogen depends on porosity, diffusivity and solubility in permeation membrane. Dense membrane is always showing a solution diffusion mechanism but porous membrane is not showing. Therefore, porous membrane has a good hydrogen flux due to pore is carried out transferred media. This mechanism is named as the Knudsen diffusion. Hydrogen molecules or hydrogen atoms are diffused along pore that is a mean free path. In this study, complex layer hydrogen permeation membrane was fabricated by hot press process. And then, it was evaluated and calculated to relationship between hydrogen permeability and membrane porosity.

  • To develop a pressurized chemical looping combustor, effect of pressure on minimum fluidization velocity and transition velocity to fast fluidization was investigated in a two-interconnected pressurized fluidized bed system using oxygen carrier particle. The minimum fluidization velocity was measured by bed pressure drop measurement with variation of gas velocity. The measured minimum fluidization velocity decreased as the pressure increased. The transition velocity to fast fluidization was measured by emptying time method and decreased as the pressure increased. Gas velocity in the fuel reactor should be greater than the minimum fluidization velocity and gas velocity in the air reactor should be greater than the transition velocity to fast fluidization to ensure proper operation of two interconnected fluidized bed system.

  • Kerosene (Coal oil) is a particularly attractive fuel because it is widely used to power jet engines of aircraft as jet fuel and some rocket engine. This paper describes the performance and emission characteristics according to the collant temperature of combustion chamber head of spark ignition engine fuelled with kerosene. As a result, the following knowledge is obtained. As the collant temperature of combustion chamber head is decreased, torque, volumetric efficiency and brake specific fuel consumption have been increased. When coolant temperature of combustion chamber lower, THC emission increased but CO and $NO_x$ emission decreased.

Preparation and Characterization of TPA Captured CL-SPEEK Polymer Composite Membranes for Water Electrolysis (수전해용 술폰화 폴리에테르 에테르 케톤과 고정된 TPA 고분자 복합막의 제조 및 특성)

  • Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) composite including tungstophosphoric acid(TPA) membranes have been intensively investigated for polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) and thus covalently linked sulfonated polyether ether ketone (CL-SPEEK) with captured TPA composite membranes were prepared and characterized. Sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) was prepared in sulfonation of PEEK and was cross-linked with 1,4 diiodobutane. The carbonyl group of SPEEK was reduced with $NaBH_4$ and 3-isocyanatepropyltriethoxysilane (ICPTES) was added. The TPA captured composite was prepared in reaction of TPA with 3-mercaptopropyltrime thoxysilane (MPTMS). The polymer composite membranes showed better thermostability and electrochemical properties than SPEEK. The membranes were prepared by sol-gel casting method. The polymer composite membrane featured 0.1285 S/cm of proton conductivity at $80^{\circ}C$ and outstanding durability.

  • In recent years, compression ignition engine has been equipped with some control devices such as common rail injection system and turbocharger. In order to control the large number of input parameter appropriately in consideration of $NO_x$, HC and engine power as the engine output objectives. The model construction which reproduces the characteristic value of $NO_x$, HC and engine power from input parameter is needed. In this research, the stepwise method was applied to construct the compression ignition engine model. By using the preliminary experimental data of single cylinder compression ignition engine, the prediction model of $NO_x$, HC and engine power on single injection compression ignition engine was built and compared with the main experimental data.

  • Interests in fuel cell based power generation systems are on the steady rise owing to various advantages such as high efficiency, ultra low emission, and potential to achieve a very high efficiency by a synergistic combination with conventional heat engines. In this study, the performance of a hybrid system which combined a molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) and an indirectly fired micro gas turbine adopting carbon dioxide capture technologies was predicted. Commercialized 2.5 MW class MCFC system was used as the based system so that the result of this study could reflect practicality. Three types of ambient pressure hybrid systems were devised: one adopting post-combustion capture and two adopting oxy-combustion capture. One of the oxy-combustion based system is configured as a semi-closed type, while the other is an open cycle type. The post-combustion based system exhibited higher net power output and efficiency than the oxy-combustion based systems. However, the semi-closed system using oxy-combustion has the advantage of capturing almost all carbon dioxide.

  • An investigation on aerodynamic performance of a highly-loaded axial fan has been conducted to find the effects of tip injection and casing groove on aerodynamic performance in this study. Three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model were used to analyze the fluid flow in the fan with Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) analysis. The hexahedral grid was used to construct computational domain, and the grid dependency test drew the optimal grid system. FSI analysis was also carried out to predict the deformation of rotor and stator blades, and the effect of deformation on the aerodynamic performance of axial fan was analyzed compared to the performance predicted without FSI analysis.

  • To synthesize copper nanoparticle a thermal decomposition was adopted. And to solve the problem of surface oxidation of the synthesized copper powder an electroless Ag plating method was used. The size and shape of synthesized Cu nanoparticle were affected by the size of copper oxalate used as a precursor, reaction solvent, reaction temperature and amount of reducing agent. Especially reaction solvent is dominant factor to control shape of Cu nano-particle which can have the shapes of sphere, polygon and rod. In case of glycerol, it produced spherical shape of about 500 nm in size. Poly ethylene produced uniform polygonal shape in about 700 nm and ethylene glycol produced both of polygon and rod having size range between 500 and 1500 nm. The silver coated copper powder showed a high electrical conductivity.

  • In this study, Poly-urethane acrylate (PUA) was synthesized by the reaction between Polycaprolactonetriol (PCLT) and Isophorone dissocyanate (IPDI) and hybridized with inorganic materials. Tetraethylortho silicate (TEOS) and nano clay (Closite 20A) were used as inorganic particles. For the hybridization of TEOS with PUA, sol-gel method is used, in which TEOS is made into spherical particle in the firsthand. In the case of Nano clay, hybridization is carried out through the dispersion as Nano clay has a layered structure. The solution of PUA hybrid was made into a film after UV curing and its thermo and electrical properties were measured. The experimental analysis and result demonstrate that the PUA hybrid shows an improved thermal properties and lower dielectric constant than that of the non-hybrid PUA. The trend of improved properties was different depending on structure of inorganic materials.

A Study on the Combustion Characteristics with Hydrogen Contents of SNG Fuel in Low-Swirl Combustor (저선회 연소기에서 합성천연가스(SNG) 연료의 수소함량에 따른 연소 특성 연구)

  • This paper describes experimental results on combustion characteristics with hydrogen contents of synthetic natural gas (SNG) in low swirl combustor. To investigate the effect of hydrogen contents for premixed SNG flame, stability map, CH chemiluminescence images, flame spectrum analysis and emission performances were measured. In the results, as the hydrogen content was increased, the lean flammable limit was expanded and the flame length was decreased. The hydrogen contents affected the flame liftoff height, and it has different tendency according to the equivalence ratio and flame shape. The change of height and length of flame according to hydrogen contents is caused by the fast burning velocity of hydrogen, which can be confirmed by GRI 3.0 reaction mechanism in PREMIX code. The intensity of $OH^*$, $CH^*$ and $C_2^*$ was confirmed by spectrum analysis of flame. As a result, the $CH^*$ intensity was not significantly different according to hydrogen content. The increase of hydrogen contents influenced positively CO and NOx emission performances.
