This paper presents the overview of development of substation automation system. The prototypes of SA system are developed in first phase, and being enhanced the performance in second phase. In this research, the project was classified into three projects which are the development of intelligent electronic devices, the development of operation system and communication network in substation, and the development of technology to verify the compatibility of IEC 61850. As a result of this research, the domestic-made SA system are operated and tested for the performance in 154kV substation and/or test-bed in KEPCO PT Center.

The fault level of power transmission lines caused by natural disaster such as lightning and rainstorm has been on the rise. Especially, the cause of lightning stokes is large part of transmission faults. In order to reduce the lightning failures, it is necessary to measure and analyze the lightning characteristics. This paper deals with observation of the lightning strokes by KEPCO Lightning Detection Network(KLDNet) and analysis including lightning density, multiplicity and amplitude distribution.

스마트그리드 기반의 원격검침에 대한 요구가 증대하면서 한전에서는 2008년부터 저압 고객에 대한 AMI(Advanced Metering Infrastructure) 기반의 검침시스템이 구축되어 운영되고 있다. 한전의 AMI 검침시스템은 2020년까지 2200만호에 대한 원격검침을 지원할 예정에 있으며, 이를 위해서는 원격검침 망을 구성하는 DCU(Data Concentration Unit) 및 모뎀에 대한 네트워크를 관리하는 검침네트워크 관리시스템을 필요로 하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 검침네트워크에 대한 설비 정보, 네트워크 구성정보, 성능정보, 트래픽 정보 등을 관리하고, 통신설비에 대한 장애현황 및 이력을 관리하는 시스템에 대한 설계 및 개발내용을 소개하고자 한다.

This technical reports describes KEPCO's PLC technology and PLC AMI projects. KEPCO has developed PLC and PLC convergence technology. KEPCO's BPL(Broadband over PLC) standard was selected as an IEC International Standard (IEC 12139-1) in 2009. KEPCO conducted a project installing 550,000 smart meters to residential customers finishing in 2010. KEPCO will carry out a PLC-AMI project around country until 2020, as well as many pilot projects to test its PLC convergence technology.
