Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) Measurement For 1 m High Resolution Satellite Images such as KOMPSAT-2 U sing Edge Function

  • The Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) is commonly used to characterize the spatial quality of imaging systems. This work is the attempt to measure the MTF at Nyquist frequency of the satellite imaging system what has 1m spatial resolution for KOMPSAT-2 image using the edge function. Artificial tarp targets are used in this study. A type of this tarp edge consists of two adjacent uniform bright and dark sides commonly used to test the performance of an optical system in edge function. The results from this work demonstrate the potential applicability of this method to estimate the response characteristics for KOMPSAT-2 that is scheduled to be launched.

  • In this paper, full-scale airframe static test of 4-seater canard airplane(the Firefly) was explained. From the results of the structural analysis, 5 design limit loads test conditions and 11 design ultimate loads test conditions were selected. Test loads analysis was performed and test fixtures and load control system(LCS) were prepared to realize the test loads. To protect the test article during the test, the overload protection system was prepared. Strain and deflection values were acquired through the data acquisition system(DAS) to verify the structural analysis results.

  • Localization is the key role in controlling the Mobile Robot. In this papers, a development of the sensor fusion algorithm for controling UTV(Unmanned Tracked Vehicle) is presented. The multi-sensocial dead-rocking subsystem is established based on the optimal filtering by first fusing heading angle reading from a magnetic compass, a rate-gyro and two encoders mouned on the robot wheels, thereby computing the deat-reckoned location. These data and the position data provoded by LBL system are fused together by means of an extended Kalman filter. This algorithm is proved by simulation studies.

  • KARI(Ko.ea Aerospace Research Institute) has measured the ionospheric electron temperature and density over the Korean Peninsular with the Langmuir and Electron Probe(LEP) onboard the Korean Sounding Rocket-II(KSR-II) In 1998. The purpose of LEP is to measure the electron density and temperature profile in the ionosphere. LEP consists of the Langmuir probe(LP) and the Electron temperature Probe(ETP) which are widely used for the measurement of the ionospheric plazma environment . We discuss the development of the Langmuir and Electron Probe which will be onboard the KSR-III and some test results in a simulated space plasma environment with the plasma chamber at the ISAS in Japan. These measurements could contribute to the basic study of ionospheric environment which also can be compared with other reference models such as IRI and PIM.
