Toluene, n-hexane, and methyl ethyl ketone(MEK) were exposed to the activated carbon fiber(ACF) and 3M(Model 3500) diffusive samplers under low and high humidity levels. In order to evaluate these two samplers, the sampling capacity, sampling rate, reverse diffusion, and storage stability were obtained. At low humidity level($8{\pm}3%RH$), the adsorption amount of all three organic vapors to the ACF diffusive sampler showed a positive linear relationship up to 8 hours. However, at high humidity level($90{\pm}5%RH$), n-hexane and MEK maintained a positive linear relationship up to 1.5 hrs, but decreased in their adsorption amounts afterwards. On the other hand, the adsorption amount of n-hexane, MEK, and toluene to 3M diffusive sampler showed almost a positive linear relationship up to 8 hours at both humidity levels. At low humidity level, there was almost no reverse diffusion for both 3M and ACF diffusive samplers. However, when the ACF diffusive sampler was used at high humidity level, there was about 52.63% of MEK sample loss and about 92.59% of n-hexane sample loss. The storage stabilities of the ACF and 3M diffusive samplers were both relative stable except for MEK. In the case of MEK, the difference between the analysis of the organic vapor right after the sampling and that of 3 weeks later at room temperature was 45% for the ACF diffusive sampler and 18% for the 3M diffusive sampler. Since the storage stability of the samples stored in a refrigerator was relatively stable, they need to be refrigerated until the analysis is done.

Flip chip assembly on organic substrates using ACAs have received much attentions due to many advantages such as easier processing, good electrical performance, lower cost, and low temperature processing compatible with organic substrates. ACAs are generally composed of epoxy polymer resin and small amount of conductive fillers (less than 10 wt.%). As a result, ACAs have almost the same CTE values as an epoxy material itself which are higher than conventional underfill materials which contains lots of fillers. Therefore, it is necessary to lower the CTE value of ACAs to obtain more reliable flip chip assembly on organic substrates using ACAs. To modify the ACA composite materials with some amount of conductive fillers, non-conductive fillers were incorporated into ACAs. In this paper, we investigated the effect of fillers on the thermo-mechanical properties of modified ACA composite materials and the reliability of flip chip assembly on organic substrates using modified ACA composite materials. Contact resistance changes were measured during reliability tests such as thermal cycling, high humidity and temperature, and high temperature at dry condition. It was observed that reliability results were significantly affected by CTEs of ACA materials especially at the thermal cycling test. Results showed that flip chip assembly using modified ACA composites with lower CTEs and higher modulus by loading non-conducting fillers exhibited better contact resistance behavior than conventional ACAs without non-conducting fillers. Microwave model and high-frequency measurement of the ACF flip-chip interconnection was investigated using a microwave network analysis. ACF flip chip interconnection has only below 0.1nH, and very stable up to 13 GHz. Over the 13 GHz, there was significant loss because of epoxy capacitance of ACF. However, the addition of $SiO_2filler$ to the ACF lowered the dielectric constant of the ACF materials resulting in an increase of resonance frequency up to 15 GHz. Our results indicate that the electrical performance of ACF combined with electroless Wi/Au bump interconnection is comparable to that of solder joint.
A novel average magnitude difference function (AMDF)-based pitch detection scheme (PDS) is proposed to achieve better performance in speech quality. A performance evaluation of the proposed PDS is carried out through both a simulation and a real-time implementation of a speech analysis-synthesis system. The parameters used to compare the performance of the proposed PDS with that of PDSs that are based on either a cepstrum, an autocorrelation function (ACF), an AMDF, or circular AMDF (CAMDF) methods are as follows: percentage gross pitch error (%GPE); a subjective listening test; an objective speech quality assessment; a speech intelligibility test; a synthesized speech waveform; computation time; and memory consumption. The proposed PDS results in lower %GPE and better synthesized speech quality and intelligibility for different speech signals as compared to the cepstrum-, ACF-, AMDF-, and CAMDF-based PDSs. The computational time of the proposed PDS is also less than that for the cepstrum-, ACF-, and CAMDF-based PDSs. Moreover, the total memory consumed by the proposed PDS is less than that for the ACF- and cepstrum-based PDSs.
In this study, synthetic viscose rayon fabric has been used for preparing activated carbon fabric (ACF), impregnated with different concentrations of $H_3PO_4$. The effect of $H_3PO_4$ impregnation on the weight yield, surface area, pore volume, chemical composition and morphology of ACF were studied. Experimental results revealed that both Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area and micropore volume increased with increasing $H_3PO_4$ concentration; however, the weight yield and microporosity (%) decreased. It was observed that samples impregnated at $70^{\circ}C$ (AC-70) give higher yield and higher microporosity as compared to $30^{\circ}C$ (AC-30). The average pore size of the ACF also gradually increases from 18.2 to 19 and 16.7 to $20.4{\AA}$ for $30^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$, respectively. The pore size distribution of ACF was also studied. It is also concluded that the final ACF strength is dependent on the concentration of impregnant.
Chip on glass (COG) bonding using anisotropic conductive film (ACF) is a key technology to assemble a driver IC onto a LCD glass panel. In this paper, an experimental investigation was conducted to investigate the correlation between contact resistance and characteristics of image taken by machine vision based inspection system. The results show that the contact resistance was strongly influenced by the contrast ratio of conductive particle rather than the number of conductive particles. Also, number of conductive particles whose contrast ratio is below 0.75 is crucial for determining the quality of the assembled samples. On the other hand, in the result of high temperature high humidity storage test, the contrast ratio of samples was increased. However, in the case of open-circuit samples after temperature humidity storage test, the number of conductive particles whose contrast ratio is above 0.75 was more than that of the closed-circuit samples.
Oxidative stress is associated with colon carcinogenesis including aberrant crypt foci (ACF) formation and it plays an important role in pathophysiological changes in cancer cells. The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of dietary unpolished Thai rice (UTR) on ACF formation and dysplastic progression in azoxymethane (AOM)-treated rats. Anti-cancer efficacy of UTR regarding apoptotic induction and oxidative redox status in human colon cancer (CaCo-2) cells was also investigated. Rats given 20% and 70% of UTR in the diet showed significantly and dose-dependently decreased total number of ACF. UTR treatment also was strongly associated with the low percentage of dysplastic progression and mucin depletion. In addition, we found that UTR significantly induced cancer cell apoptosis, increased cellular oxidants, and decreased the level of GSH/GSSG ratio in CaCo-2 cells. Our study suggests that UTR supplementation may be a useful strategy for CRC prevention with the inhibition of precancerous progression, with induction of cancer cell apoptosis through redox alteration.
The homozygous deletion allele of the angiotensin converting enzyme gene (ACF/DD), homozygous threonine allele of the angiotensinogen gene (AGN/TT), and the 4 allele of the apolipoprotein E gene (apoE/4) are reported to be associated with ischemic heart disease. Ischemic cerebrovascular disease (ICVD) is another atherosclerotic disease, and the effects of these polymorphisms on ICVD have been confusing. In this study, I investigated whether ACF/DD, AGN/TT, and apoE/4 genotypes are associated with ICVD and whether genetic risk is enhanced by the effect of one upon another. I ascertained these genotypes in patients with ICVD (n=121) diagnosed by brain computed tomography. Control subjects for the ICVD were randomly selected from subjects matched for age, gender, and history of hypertension with patients. Frequency of ACF/DD genotype was somewhat higher in the patients with ICVD than in the controls (18% vs. 15%). Incidence of ICVD was higher in subjects with the apoE/4/4 genotype than in the other genotypes (50% vs. 27-29%). Incidence of ICVD was much higher in subjects with the AGN/TT genotype than in AGN/MM genotype (36% vs. 17%). Furthermore, the AGN/TT genotype greatly increased the relative risk for ICVD in the subjects with ACF/DD genotype (80.0% vs. 20.0%, P=0.089). Finally, incidence of ICVD was much higher in the subjects with both apoE/2/4 and AGN/TT genotype than in the other genotypes (83.3% vs. 16.7%, P=O.095). These results suggest that AGN/TT enhances the risk for ICVD associated with ACF/DD and apoE/2/4.
