  • 3 years and 10 months has passed since the New Citizen Participation in Criminal Trial was first enforced to secure reliability of people by reinforcing democratic legitimacy of jurisdiction and raising transparency. It can be evaluated positive in that procedural democracy as well as fair and prudent trial is realized, enabling people to participate at criminal justice procedure. However, new citizen participation in criminal trial targets only a very few case and recognize hortatory effects of jury's verdict only, not the binding effects. In addition, it still has various problems including limit to target cases, selection system of defendants, exclusion determination system, participation of conference of the judge and verdict by majority vote of the jury. In this regard, this study aims to examine several issues and problems, and to present alternative for this.

  • Determining the Schur stability of a polynomial is one of fundamental steps in many engineering problems including digital control system design or digital filter design. Due to its importance a variety of techniques have been reported in the literature for checking the Schur stability of a given polynomial. However most of them focus on real polynomials, and few results are available for complex polynomials. This paper concerns the Schur stability of complex polynomials. A simplified Jury's table for real polynomials is extended to complex polynomials.

  • Since human listening is very sensitive to sound, a subjective index of a sound quality is required. Therefore, in the analysis for each situation, the sound evaluation is composed with sound quality factor. Many researchers spends their effort to make a more reliable and more accurate of sound in term of sound quality index for various system noise. The previous methods to evaluation of the SQ about vehicle interior noise are linear regression analysis of subjective SQ metrics by statistics and the estimation of the subjective SQ values by neural network. But these are so depended on jury test very much that they result in many difficulties. So, to reduce jury test weight, we suggested a new method using Mahalanobis distance for SQ evaluation. Threrefore, in this study Mahalanobis distance for the vehicle interior noise was derived using the objective SQ except jury test. Finnaly, the results of the SQ evaluation was analyzed discrimination between reference and abnormal group.

  • Since human listening is very sensitive to sound, for evaluating of a sound quality is required. Therefore, in the analysis for each situation, the sound evaluation is composed with sound quality factor. The previous methods to evaluation of the SQ about vehicle interior noise are linear regression analysis of subjective SQ metrics by statistics and the estimation of the subjective SQ values by neural network. So, to reduce jury test weight. we suggested a new method using Mahalanobis distance for SQ evaluation. • This paper presents the HRTF based experimental approach to figure out why the human auditory perception on the interior noise source including the directional tonal components does not well match with the dominant features extracted from recorded acoustic signals in terms of psycho-acoustics. Since the general objective evaluation models for tonalness among various sound attributes are a function of width, frequency, excessive level of tonal components respectively, the directional tonal components cannot be properly evaluated without considering the effects of head-related transfer function on the binaural auditory perception. Thus, the directivity of source is additionally considered to prevent the erroneous conclusions from the same sound source in the process of source identification. The signal synthesis technique is used to solve a little difficulty in measuring all of desired acoustic signals for jury evaluation. The sound attributes of synthetic acoustics signals are analyzed to roughly predict the results of jury evaluation in advance by using sound quality factors such as loudness, sharpness, roughness, fluctuation strength and tonality. The jury evaluation is carefully conducted based on the recommended guideline suggested by N. Ottoet al. Each sound is respectively evaluated by selecting a value between -2 and 2 in intervals of 0.2 point. Through above procedure, based on the results of jury evaluation, it is confirmed that serious problems can be caused in the process of analyzing the dominant sound attributes in terms of psycho-acoustics according to the type of a microphone and a playback system.

  • This paper presents an overview on flutter boundary prediction in tests which is principally based on a system stability measure, named Jury's stability criterion, defined in the discrete-time domain, accompanied with the use of autoregressive moving-average (AR-MA) representation of a sampled sequence of wing responses excited by continuous air turbulences. Stability parameters applicable to two-, three- and multi-mode systems, that is, the flutter margin for discrete-time systems derived from Jury's criterion are also described. Actual applications of these measures to flutter tests performed in subsonic, transonic and supersonic wind tunnels, not only stationary flutter tests but also a nonstationary one in which the dynamic pressure increased in a fixed rate, are presented. An extension of the concept of nonstationary process approach to an analysis of flutter prediction of a morphing wing for which the instability takes place during the process of structural morphing will also be mentioned. Another extension of analytical approach to a multi-mode aeroelastic system is presented, too. Comparisons between the prediction based on the digital techniques mentioned above and the traditional damping method are given. A future possible application of the system stability approach to flight test will be finally discussed.

  • In this paper, we tried to find out sound quality metrics to express discomfort of overload excavator noise and to develop sound quality indexes through multiple regression analysis by using them. For this purpose, the interior noise of cabin under overload condition was recorded for six excavator models with different noise properties and Jury test was carried out by PCM (Paired Comparison Method) and MEM (Magnitude Estimation Method). Jury test result with low consistency was classified into two groups with different preference tendencies by cluster analysis and multiple regression analysis was conducted in order to find out which sound quality metrics have significant effects on discomfort(low preference). As a result, we figured out that the sound quality metrics to express the discomfort were the partial loudness (= $PN_{10Bark}$) between 0 and 10 Bark in case of group1 and the difference between engine noise(= $dB_{EG}$) and hydraulic system noise ($dB_1$) in case of group2. Using the results of preference ranking and tendency analysis of PCM followed by the correlation analysis between PCM and MEM, the more reliable results were adopted by excluding the data with low consistency obtained from Jury test via MEM.

  • The reduction of the Vehicle interior noise has been the main interest of NVH engineers. The driver's perception on the vehicle noise is affected largely by psychoacoustic characteristic of the noise as well as the SPL. And, optimal characteristic values influenced on the result of the SQ evaluation were derived by signal to noise ratio(SN ratio) of the Taguchi method. Finally, the new method to evaluate SQ is constructed using Mahalanobis-Taguchi system(MTS). Furthermore, the MTS method for SQ evaluation was compared by the result of SQ grade table at the previous study and their virtues and faults introduced.
