Objectives & Methods : The purpose of this study is to observe the anti-oxidative effects of electroacupuncture to Yinlingquan(SP9) in AAPH induced oxidative stress of rats. The author performed several experimental items including measurements of body weight, levels of albumin, total bilirubin, LDL-cholesterol, GOT and GPT in serum, levels of SOD, glutathione, catalase, NO and MDA in liver, histological analysis of liver. The conclusions are as follows. Results : 1. In the SP9-EA group, the level of LDL-cholesterol was significantly decreased in comparison with that of the holder group and control group. 2. In the SP9-EA group, SOD activity, glutathione concentration in liver were increased, and NO concentration was decreased significantly in comparison with those of the control group and the holder group. 3. In the SP9-EA group, the density of liver tissue was maintained more similarly to the normal group in comparison with those of the control group and the holder group. 5. The results of the SP9-NR group showed similar tendencies with those of the SP9-EA group, but the effects were lower than those of the SP9-EA group. Conclusion : These results suggest that electroacupuncture at SP9 has an anti oxidative effect through suppressing both the reduction of anti-oxidative enzymes and production of oxidized substances.

본 논문은 제2형 양극성 장애 환자에게 한의학적 변증체계와 함께 IPSRT의 심리 치료 기법을 적용한 증례이다. 제2형 양극성 장애 환자에게 한의치료와 IPSRT를 4개월간 병용한 결과, 환자의 사회적 리듬, 우울증 및 대인관계 능력이 개선되었으며 4개월후 추적조사에서도 호전상태가 유지되었다. 향후 양극성 장애 환자에 대한 높은 근거수준의 한의 임상연구 수행과 한의표준임상진료지침의 개발 등을 통해 양극성장애에 한의치료가 보다 활발히 활용되기를 기대한다.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to establish evidence-based guideline on infrared therapy on acupoints. Methods : We investigated all the articles in websites including Pubmed, China national knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) and medical journals authorized by national research foundation of Korea. The key words are acupoints and infrared. For the first time, we withdrew some papers no relationship to key words by reading titles and abstracts. In the second, we only selected randomized clinical trials(RCT) published from 2000 to 2010. Results : Out of 62 papers, only 2 RCT were analyzed. One (RCT 1) was about depression patients with insomnia(jadad score: 1). The other(RCT 2) was about urimic pruritus patients(jadad score: 5). In RCT 1, experimental group was significantly better than control group. In RCT 2, there was not statistical signification between two groups. Conclusions : In reality, there were not many papers on infrared therapy applications. Further study just like RCTs may be needed to establish evidenced-based guideline on infrared.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of Korean medicine treatment, and to analyze problems and demands to provide basic data on Korean medicine in military medical services. Methods: This survey was completed by 30 volunteer Korean medicine military doctors on service via a web-based questionnaire system. The questionnaire was developed through in-depth interviews with Korean medicine military doctors and consisted of general information on the subject, overall characteristics of the medical environment, current status of Korean medicine care in each workplace, problems and needs, and related clinical evidence and education. Results: Korean medicine military doctors administered acupuncture treatment most frequently in clinical practice. The most common complaints were related to musculoskeletal diseases, which accounted for 86.5% of all diseases, including those of the respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems. Most of the problems in Korean medicine care were pointed out as being due to a lack of awareness of Korean medicine in the military. Many doctors were aware that it is necessary to establish clinical evidence for Korean medicine in the military, and were also positive about the possibility of performing clinical research in the military, but the experience of actual participation in clinical research or related education was uncommon. Conclusions: Korean medicine military treatment differs from private medical care due to the specificity of each workplace and the military medical system. In the future, it will be necessary to establish an appropriate Korean medicine treatment model in the military suitable for these characteristics and strategic plans for clinical evidence.

Lycii fructus is the fruit of Lycium chinense Miller and is part of the Solanaceae family. Lycii fructus produces various effects such as hypotensive, hypoglycemic, anti-pyretic, and anti-stress activities. Lycii fructus is known to contain betaine, carotene, nicotinic acid, zeaxanthin, and cerebroside. In the present study, the effects of Lycii fructus aqueous extract on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in murine raw 264.7 macrophage cells were investigated. In this study we utilized the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), Western blotting, and nitric oxide (NO) detection. Lycii fructus aqueous extract suppressed NO production by inhibiting the LPS-induced expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-$\alpha$) mRNA and iNOS protein in murine raw 264.7 macrophage cells. Also, Lycii fructus aqueous extract suppressed the activation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-${\kappa}B$) in the nucleus. These results demonstrated that Lycii fructus aqueous extract causes an anti-inflammatory effect that was likely produced by the suppression of iNOS expression through the down-regulation of NF-$\hat{e}B$ binding activity.

The objective of this study is to report an accidental detection of colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis to spine during conservative treatment for lumbar disc herniation. We treated a 65-year-old female who was diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation on September 2019 by acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, cupping treatment, chuna manual therapy, herbal medicine treatment, medicine treatment and physical therapy. After that we analyzed medical record from December 12, 2019 to February 11, 2020. The patient was diagnosed with CRC and received tumor resection in 2014. After 2 times of chemotherapy, she arbitrarily interrupted the treatment. Since she stated that CRC treatment was terminated, we had difficulty in finding connection between symptom and CRC. During the treatment period, compression fracture at L3 body was found, which was caused by CRC metastasis. Rigorous question, appropriate radiological and clinical tests are required to patients who have history of malignant tumor.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report about a mid-40's female patient with Prurigo Nodularis, whose symptoms were relieved after Korean medicine treatment alone with Whidam's Su-Gi Therapy. Methods : the patient in this study received only Korean medicine treatment such as herbal medication, acupuncture treatment, cupping therapy and specially Whidam's Su-Gi therapy. Results : After the treatment, the symptoms of Prurigo Nodularis were relieved. Contact Itching Index fell from 10 to 5, and Non-Contact Itching Index fell from 10 to 4. On the whole the Body Heat has risen and skin condition has improved visually. The significance of Meridian Function Check(based on HRV) and skin syndrome is remarkable., Conclusions : This study showed that Whidam's Su-Gi therapy added with Korean Medicine treatment can be an effective choice for Prurigo Nodularis. So, wasting disease, especially immune-reduced syndrome such as Prurigo Nodularis, may also be treated with Korean Medicine alone without side effects.

Purpose : Thermographic inspection of infrared thermographic inspection of recent papers Western Medicine and Korean traditional medicine in the Department of infrared thermographic inspection purposes, the method is studied and compared. Methods : "Infrared thermographic inspection" was found searching paper side 51 centered below the contents of the retrieved articles were conducted. Results : In Western medicine. mainly associated with pain and neurological disorders in sensory evaluation after treatment was more frequent in the paper about a topic anesthetic primarily due to the nature of medicine is estimated to be actively used. Mainly in the Oriental sense of pain and neurological disorders are used to evaluate whether treatment is proven to be widely used in Acupuncture was demonstrated. But Western medicine, disease. mainly confined to the sense of pain and nerve pain and nerve sensations in Korean traditional medicine, but not only disease. as well as an assessment tool to observe the physiological changes of the body also was great. Conclusion : Thermographic inspection and further more for coverage of Western and Korean traditional medicine for the use of the infrared thermographic inspection methods and could see that there were some differences.

Objective: This clinical study reports on the effect of traditional Korean medicine on a patient with generalized anxiety disorder.Method: A patient who suffered from generalized anxiety disorder was treated with herbal medicine (Guibiondamtang-gami), acupuncture, moxibustion, and pharmacopuncture. We assessed the changes of anxiety-related symptoms with the state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) score, the Beck anxiety inventory (BAI) score, a heart rate variability (HRV) test, and a second derivative of photoplethymogram waveform (SDPTG) test.Results: After taking Guibiondamtang-gami for 22 days, the patient’s STAI score, BAI score, and LF/HF (low-frequency/high-frequency heart rate variability) ratio decreased, while the differential pulse wave index and stress power in the SDPTG test increased.Conclusion: This clinical case study has demonstrated that traditional Korean medicine may be an effective option for treating generalized anxiety disorder.

Objective: Diabetic neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes mellitus. Patients with this disease suffer from various peripheral sensory symptoms that are not easily alleviated. We report on a case of a patient with diabetic neuropathy whose symptoms were alleviated after traditional Korean medical treatment.Methods: A patient with hand and foot numbness and coldness diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy was treated with Palmijihwang-tang (Bai Wei Di Huang Wa, 八味地黃湯) three times a day. The progress was evaluated with the numerical rating scale (NRS), neuropathy disability score (NDS), and neuropathy symptom score (NSS).Results: The improvement of symptoms appeared to be faster and more effective than that of conventional treatment. The improvement was observed from the second day of the treatment.Conclusions: This case study shows that Palmijihwang-tang may be an effective treatment for diabetic neuropathy.
