  • In 2012, the NIBR started publishing the Journal of Species Research (JSR) as an international specialized journal of biological taxonomy focusing on taxonomic research. JSR Volume 5 Number 3, to be published in October 2016, has been planned as a 'Special Edition on New and Unrecorded Species of Invertebrates in Korea', and so it consists of the reports of 149 new and unrecorded invertebrate species (including protozoa) discovered in Korea. In future, the JSR should further accelerate the use of such methods to generate valid data for new species and effectively support the compilation of 'National List of Species of Korea'. In this way, it will contribute significantly to enrich for biodiversity in Korea.

  • Recent herbarium reexamination and field studies yielded two monocotyledonous plant taxa of the family Poaceae that could be documented in the national inventory list of species of Korea. These species, collected from Jeollabuk-do and Gyeongsangnam-do, were introduced and naturalized in Korea. Two species were identified as Holcus mollis L. and Aira elegantissima Schur. We provided the descriptions and descriptive photos of these species. Keys to the newly recorded species and related taxa were also provided.

  • Four species of opisthobranch molluscs collected from Jeju Island were identified as Pleurobranchus peronii Cuvier, 1804, Pleurobranchus weberi (Bergh, 1905), Aplysiopsis nigra (Baba, 1949) and Stiliger aureomarginatus Jensen, 1993. All of the species and genera examined here are new to Korea. Pleurobranchus peronii and P. weberi were easily distinguished to each species by dorsal tubercles and markings. In this report, we provided descriptions and photographs of these species for identification.

  • Paraplectana sakaguchii Uyemura, 1938 is a ultra rare species belonging to Araneidae worldwide. This species was collected by sweep net between the shrubs at the foot of mountainous region in August, 2012. This species is briefly described and illustrated in this report. The spider genus Paraplectana is also newly recorded to Korean spider fauna.

  • The classification system of Collybiopsis has been updated to contain some species of Collybiopsis, Gymnopus sect. Vestipedes, and Marasmiellus. Recently, we conducted the taxonomic study of Korean Collybiopsis to reflect the current classification system and confirmed 16 species. We propose their Korean names in this research note.
