In the local Universe, the gravitational effects of mass density fluctuations exert perturbations on galaxies' redshifts on top of Hubble's Law, called 'peculiar velocities'. These peculiar velocities provide an excellent way to test the cosmological model in the nearby Universe. In this talk, we present new cosmological constraints using peculiar velocities measured with the 2MASS Tully-Fisher survey (2MTF), 6dFGS peculiar-velocity survey (6dFGSv), the Cosmicflows-3 and Cosmicflows-4TF compilation. Firstly, the dipole and the quadrupole of the peculiar velocity field, commonly named 'bulk flow' and 'shear' respectively, enable us to test whether our cosmological model accurately describes the motion of galaxies in the nearby Universe. We develop and use a new estimators that accurately preserves the error distribution of the measurements to measure these moments. In all cases, our results are consistent with the predictions of the Λ cold dark matter model. Additionally, measurements of the growth rate of structure, fσ8 in the low-redshift Universe allow us to test different gravitational models. We developed a new estimator of the "momentum" (density weighted peculiar velocity) power spectrum and use joint measurements of the galaxy density and momentum power spectra to place new constraints on the growth rate of structure from the combined 2MTF and 6dFGSv data. We recover a constraint of fσ8=0.404+0.082-0.081 at an effective redshift zeff=0.03. This measurement is also fully consistent with the expectations of General Relativity and the Λ Cold Dark Matter cosmological model.
The purpose of this study was to investigate kinetic variables of the lower extremity during walking on three different stair widths in healthy adults. Ten healthy college-aged adults($23.5{\pm}3.5$) recruited for this study. Each stairs with the same height and length(l8cm and 90cm) under the Korean Constructional Law but three different widths(26cm, 31cm and 36cm) were conducted for this study. One force plate(9286AA, Kistler Co.) was put on third stairs. One-way ANOVA was performed to find the stair width effects during stair walking and the following findings ware obtained. There was significantly decreased in ankle resultant joint moment at Pull-Up phase(p<.05) and, significantly increased in knee extension moment during mid-stance phase as stair width increase(p<.05), but there was no significance in ankle resultant joint moment was found at Forward Continuance Phase in Ascending Stair Walking and There was significantly increased in ankle resultant joint moment as stair width increase during mid-stance phase(p<.05) and no significance in knee and hip resultant moments among the stair width in descending stair walking.
The third-rail system is an important device supplying power directly to the Maglev train through physical contact with the collecting shoe. It is directly related to safety and reliability for the running of Maglev. However, most the third-rail system used in Korea depend on foreign product or technologies, Korea Urban Maglev in the development of appropriate power feeding is urgent. In particular, the turnout section is the weakness point in the system because bending force by turnout section movement and fatigue caused by repetitive motion as well as the expansion by temperature, the forces by Maglev collecting shoe is added th the third-rail. Therefore, this paper proposes the third-rail system appropriate for Korean Urban Maglev of turnout section. To verify the structural stability of POSCO ICT third-rail system, the finite element analysis and physical testing was performed. The third-rail is fixed on each side of the turn-out section steel structure by epoxy insulation supporter and the integral behaviors are occurred. Therefore, the maximum horizontal displacements of each support are investigated and then, it is applied to finite element model of the third-rail to investigate the moments and stress. Also, the bending test about one million times and Expansion Joint for the third-rail was performed. The third-rail system safety and reliability was identified by test line on Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials in Deajeon for under the actual usage environment such as the Maglev and turn-out operation.
This paper describes an analytical study on the design approach of PC system with continuous connections at member ends. In multi-ribbed moment resisting slab (MRS) system, double tee members are connected continuously over inverted tee beams with the continuous reinforcements placed within topping concrete. Thus, negative moments are concentrated within the narrow connection area. In order to propose a design method, experimental results of the companion study were examined using detailed nonlinear analysis. Then nonlinear static analysis was used to evaluate the partial continuity effect and the moment redistribution mechanism. Material and cross sectional properties were obtained from experimental results of the companion study. Plastic hinge properties for nonlinear static analysis were modeled with cracking moment, nominal moment, corresponding member deformations, etc. The analysis results showed that a large amount of negative moment of MRS slab can be reduced by applying partial continuity and moment redistribution in MRS joint.

For the elderly, achieving a close-to-normal ambulation is important for activities of daily life. Recent researches of SE(Silver Engineering) restoring physical ability would help the elderly by developing the advanced gait assisting devices and orthoses. For the applications using the advanced technologies, the gait characteristics of the elderly must be understood. However, a few studies were performed to investigate the physiological or pathological gaits. The purpose of this study is to provide the gait analysis data and also to investigate relationships between alignment of the lower limb, foot progression angle and knee joint moments in the healthy elderly. By participating a total of 20 healthy elderly persons in this study, the following facts were found: 1) Cadence showed 114.8 steps/min, gait speed showed 1.05 m/s, time per a stride showed 1.06 sec, time per a step showed 0.53 sec, single-supporting phase was 0.41 sec, double-supporting phase was 0.24 sec, stride length was 1.04m, Step length was 0.56m; 2) The maximum knee flexion angle through swing phase showed left 46.82$^{\circ}$, right 40.19$^{\circ}$ and the maximum knee extension angle showed left -1.32$^{\circ}$, right 2.01$^{\circ}$. Knee varus showed left 26.90$^{\circ}$, right 30.93$^{\circ}$; 3) The maximum knee flexion moment showed left 0.363 Nm/kg, right 0.464 Nm/kg, The maximum knee extension moment showed left 0.389 Nm/kg, right 0.463 Nm/kg. The maximum knee adduction moment showed left 0.332 Nm/kg, right 0.379 Nm/kg. The maximum internal rotational moment showed left 0.13 Nm/kg, right 0.140 Nm/kg; 4) The subjects who had varus alignment of the lower extremity had statistically higher in knee adduction moment in mid stance phase; and 5) The subjects who had large foot progression angle had statistically lower in knee adduction moment in late stance phase.
In this study, specimens were produced with a column member and a wooden gusset only by inserting an wooden gusset which is a substitute for steel plate into the center of a slit-processed column member. The moment resistance performance of the specimens was compared with that of control specimens that used a steel plate. The measured maximum moments of the specimens produced with GFRP-reinforced wooden laminated gussets and pins were lower by 24% on average compared to the steel plate-inserted specimens, but they showed good toughness. The fracture shape suggests that it was fractured along the annual rings between the pin and the end of the column member. The rigid specimen that integrated a laminated wood and a wooden laminated gusset with adhesive showed 2.8 times greater initial rigidity and 40% greater maximum moment on average compared to the control specimen. The rigid specimens mainly fractured on a glulam around glue line.
This study performs an experimental investigation to evaluate the behavior of RC flat plate interior joints specimens. Three 60 percent scale Flat Plate interior specimens assemblies representing a portion of a Flat Plate Apartment Structural System subjected to simulated seismic loading (unbalanced moments) under constant axial load were tested, including one specimens with ordinary shear reinforcement and two specimens with folded bend type shear reinforcement. Test results are shown that (1) the design code KBC 2009 is accurate estimate the behavior of specimens. (2) Two types shear reinforcement have a similar structural behavior, but construction work of rebar with folded bend type shear reinforcement is easier than that of ordinary shear reinforcement. (3) In moderate seismic region, RC Flat Plate interior joint with folded bend type shear reinforcement is apply to structural design of Flat Plate.

The purpose of this study was to investigate possibility of a forward gait with backward mechanism(dance gait) as rehabilitation and/or walking exercise by means of biomechanical variables. Thirteen professional women dancers(age, $21.1{\pm}1.3yrs$; height, $159.3{\pm}7.2cm$; body mass, $45.1{\pm}8.4kg$)participated in this study. We found that speed, stride length and double limb support time of a dance gait were more greater than backward gait, but stride width of dance gait less than a backward gait. Maximum RoMs, moments and powers of the lower limb joints on a dance gait were more frequent than a backward dance. These results were judged to be sufficient by the possibility of dance gait as rehabilitation and walking exercise.
Purpose: This study compared the effects of non-cold and cold conditions on the viscoelastic properties of tendon structures in vivo. Methods: Seven male subjects perfomed plantar flesion exercise with maximal isokinetic voluntary contraction, which consisted of muscle contraction for 6 see and relaxation for 60 secs, 10 times for 1 set, Totally 10 sets were repeated. Before and after each task, the elongation of the tendon and aponeurosis of the medial gastrocnemius muscle (MG) was directly measured by ultrasonography. (The relationship between the estimated tendon force and tendon elongation.) Tendon cross-sectional area and ankle joint moment arm were obtained from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The tendon force was calculated from the joint moments and the tendon moment arm and stress was obtained by dividing force by cross-sectional areas (CSA). The strain was measured from the displacements normalized to tendon length. Results: After cooling, the tendon force was larger in cold than non-cold. The value of the tendon stiffness of MVC were significantly higher under the cold condition than under the non-cold condition. The maximal strain and stress of $7.4{\pm}0.7%$ and $36.4{\pm}1.8$ MPa in non-cold and $7.8{\pm}8.5%,\;31.8{\pm}1.1$ MPa in cold (P<0.05). Conclusion: This study shows for the first time that the muscle endurance in cooling increases the stiffness and Young's modulus of human tendons. The improvement in muscle endurance with cooling was directly related to muscle and tendon.
Artificial joint replacement is one of the major surgical advances of the 21th century. The primary purpose of a TKA (Total Knee Arthroplasty) is to restore normal knee Auction. Therefore, ideally, a TKA should: (a) maintain the natural leverage of the knee joint muscles to ensure generating adequate knee muscle moments to accomplish daily tasks such as rising from a chair or climbing stairs;(b) allow the same range of motion as an complete knee; and (c) provide adequate knee joint stability. Four individuals (2 peoples after surgery one year and 2 peoples after surgery three years) participated in this study. All they were prescreened for health and functional status by the same surgeon who performed the operations. Two days of accommodation practice occurred prior to the actual strength testing. The isometric strength (KIN-COM III) of the quadriceps and hamstring were measured at 60$^\circ$ and 30$^\circ$ of knee flexion, respectively. During isokinetic concentric testing, the range of motion was between 10$^\circ$ to 80$^\circ$ of knee flexion (stand-to-sit) and extension (sit-to-stand). for a given test, the trial exhibiting maximum torque was analyzed. A 16-channel MYOPACTM EMG system (Run Technologies, Inc.) was used to collect the differential input surface electromyographic (EMG) signals of the vastus medialis (VM), vastus lateralis(VL), rectus femoris (RF) during sit-to-stand and stand-to-sit tests. Disposable electrodes (Blue SensorTM, Medicotest, Inc.) were used to collect the EMG signals. The results were as follows; 1. Less maximum concentric (16% and 21% less for 1 yew man and 3 years mm, respectively) and isometric (12% and 29%, respectively) quadriceps torque for both participants. 2.14% less maximum hamstrings concentric torque for 1 year man but 16% greater torque for 3 years mm. However, 1 year man had similar hamstring isometric peak torque for both knees. 3. Less quadriceps co-contraction by 1 year man except for the VM at 10$^\circ$-20$^\circ$ and 30$^\circ$-50$^\circ$ range of knee flexion.
