Purpose: This study was done to identify factors related to job satisfaction according to socioeconomic status and job related factors among community health practitioners. Method: A total of 91 community health practitioners participated in the survey. The survey was performed in November, 2008. The survey instruments included socioeconomic factors, work related factors and job satisfaction. The statistical analysis included frequencies, percentages, means, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test and multiple regression. Results: The mean age was $44.03{\pm}5.21$ years, 35.1% graduated from baccalaureate program. Job satisfactions related to wage level and job description had relatively lower score than other items. Job satisfaction was significantly different by education level, marital status, and motivation for choosing to be a community health practitioner. Conclusion: Characteristics of community health practitioners are changing and the Korean government needs to up-date job descriptions and welfare policies according to the higher quality of public health practitioners.
The objectives of this study were to determine the degree of job satisfaction and need satisfaction of school foodservice employees, and the relationship between Job in General(JIG) and need satisfaction. The six demographic items, the Job Descriptive Index(JDI) and JIG scale, and Need Satisfaction Questionnaire(NSQ) were used to evaluate job satisfaction and need satisfaction of school foodservice employees. The results of this study showed that the employees were satisfied with co-workers(2.52), then supervision(2.48), work(1.86), promotion(0.72) and pay(0.51) in decreasing order. Older employees(Age$\geq$40) tended to be more satisfied in JIG(p=0.0620) than younger employees(20$\leq$Age$\leq$39). Employees were satisfied in social needs, then autonomy needs, self-actualization needs, esteem needs, security heeds in decreasing order. There were no significant differences between demographic factors and five need categories. When the employees were classified by their scores on JIG, Group I having the lowest score tended to be less satisfied(p=0.0627) in security needs than Group II and Group III. The information of study could be useful for foodservice managers in job design to increase the productivity.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of organizational culture on job satisfaction of fire officials. Method : The subjects of this study were 251 fire officials in Gongju and Choengju province and Daejeon City. Data were collected using self-administering questionnaire from February 20 to March 20 in 2006. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 14.0 program. Real number, percentage, mean and standard deviation were calculated, and t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple regression were analyzed. Result : The results of this study were as follows : 1. The job satisfaction was found to be significant positive correlations with full organizational culture(r = .595, p = .000). 2. The job satisfaction was found to be in significant positive with rational goal culture, open system culture and human relation culture. 3. How organizational culture affects the job satisfactions was as follows; 25.2% of core values of manpower, 6.3% of rational goal culture, and 4.9% of job initiative. Conclusion : Enhancing the job satisfaction of fire officials would improve personalized factors and changes rational goal culture.
The objective of this study is to identify factors affecting the job satisfaction of cook(n= 173) employed in school food service and to propose a plan to improve school foodservice quality. The subjects were cook employed by school in Chungchon province, Gwangju area. The average of cook's job satisfaction was 3.06, the rank factor for nature of work(4.25). the co-workers(3.28), the organic environment(3.17), promotion welfare payment(2.31), the physical environment(2.29) shown respectively. The highest satisfaction with nature of work and organic environment was indicated in the areas of the group of higher age, and cooks who received college education showed significantly lower job satisfaction in physical environment. The highest satisfaction for promotion welfare payment, and physical environment shown in the group of higher length of service who receive higher wages. The groups of regular job shown higher result in the nature of work(3.46>2.94), organic environment(3.46>2.94), promotion welfare payment(2.88>1.94) comparing to irregular job. It is necessary to elevate cook's low satisfaction for improving their work efficiency and the quality of elementary school foodservice.
Purpose: This descriptive study was conducted to identify burnout and factors influencing burnout in clinical nurses. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was conducted by administering a structured questionnaire to 195 nurses working at hospitals, from August to September 2017. This study used scales to measure burnout (20 items), job satisfaction (16 items), and perfectionism (40 items). Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Burnout of participants was correlated with job satisfaction and perfectionism. Factors identified to have influence on burnout were job satisfaction (${\beta}=-.35$, p<.001), perfectionism-fail avoidance (${\beta}=.26$, p=.001), perceived health status (${\beta}=-.26$, p<.001), and intention of department relocation (${\beta}=-.23$, p<.001). The regression model explained approximately 48% of nurses' burnout. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to improve job satisfaction and organizational support to decrease dysfunctional perfectionism that could cause burnout in nurses. It is also necessary to establish a psychological support program in hospitals.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic information to school foodservice employees so that they can meet their professional responsibilities by understanding the relationship of job burnout, job engagement, job stress and level of job satisfaction and analyze the influence between these factors according to the general characteristics of the employees. The subjects included employees at 426 school foodservices in Busan. The mean job engagement was significantly different in the reason that cooks chose this profession(p<0.05), and readiness to quit(p<0.001). The mean job stress was significantly different in different age groups(p<0.01), cooking certification(p<0.01), reason that cooks chose this profession(p<0.01), and readiness to quit(p<0.05). In terms of the level of satisfaction of coworkers, the subfactor of job burnout, 'self-confidence' and 'achievement' had positive influences (p<0.01) and for the level of satisfaction of the work, it had positive influences on 'achievement'(p<0.01) and negative influences on 'exhaustion' (p<0.01). In terms of the level of satisfaction of co-workers and work, the subfactor of job engagement, 'absorption' had positive influences(p<0.01). Among the level of job satisfaction, for the level of satisfaction of pay, the subfactor of job stress, 'unstable job' had negative influences(p<0.01) and 'role conflict' had positive influences(p<0.05). For the level of satisfaction of co-workers, the subfactor of job stress, 'role conflict' had negative influences(p<0.01), and for the level of satisfaction of work, 'inappropriate circumstance' and 'unstable job' had negative influences (p<0.01).
The sustained economic growth cannot be expected without the balanced development in all the realms of industries. Korea has recorded the continuous high growth rate of economy, but it is now facing some difficulties in keeping the normal economic growth, because industrial workers do not like to work in some fields, the typical one of which is the fishery works. This thesis aims at studying the determinants of fishermen's job satisfaction(FJS) and the determinants of affecting the fishermen's trunover intention(FTI) to obtain and maintain the man power for fishing boats. This study assumes that the determinants which affact FJS are fishermen's work values, job characteristics, the attitude of accepting their fishery work, and that the determinants which affect FTI are FJS and their perceptions of labor market. This study concerns two kinds of Job satisfaction : one is an intrinsic satisfaction which comes directly from the work itself, and the other is an extrinsic satisfaction comes from the compensation for the work, but in this study “Pollnac's work satisfaction factor” is added as an additional determinant of FJS. There is a difference in job satisfactions between the individuals who have different work values. Some feel more satisfacttion than the others, which can be explained by the internal work values which assume the work is only a means for another objective of life. This study applies Hackman and 014ham's studies to the job characteristics that a worker's job satisfaction is positively related to the core job characteristis of the job. In addition, this study transformed their studies into variables. A job enrichment to reduce the simplicity of a work and make it more valueable can increase a job satisfaction, but an existing organization has limitation in redesigning the job for its enrichment. Purpose: This study were carried out to investigate the difference employment characteristics and job satisfactions by gender and to explore the influences of demographic status and employment characteristics on job satisfaction. Method: Social statistics survey data collected by Ministry of Statistics in 1998 were used for the secondary analysis in the study. Job satisfaction was measured by questionnaire which were consisted in 12 items such as task, promotion, placement, wage, benefits, future in the work, working environment, human relationship, working hours. Result: The results show that more than 50% of women were working as a part-time employees. Their education level were lower than men. Women workers were unmarried at higher percents than men. Men were showed more satisfaction significantly in their job than women. Men also had higher job satisfaction with work task, promotion, placement, and human relation. Women had shown higher job satisfaction with wage, working environment, and employer-employee relationship. Employment status had the most important factor on the job satisfaction. And, living status satisfaction, education, age, occupation, marital status, employment status and sex were significant for the job satisfaction. 33.34% of the variance in the job satisfaction were accounted for by these variables. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that there were difference of job satisfaction between gender and employment status was the most predictive factors on the job satisfaction. Women had more unstable employment status such as part-time, employment on probation, or family employer without wage than men. Stability of employment could be considered as a strategy for enhancing job satisfaction for women.
The purposes of this study were to: (a) measure the levels of job satisfaction with five facets of a job: the work itself, promotion, pay, supervision and co-workers and (b) investigate relationships between job characteristics and job satisfaction levels of the dietitians in school foodservice. Subjects consisted of 151 dietitians, with 91 in Seoul and 60 in KyoungKi-Do. The survey form was developed on modifying Job Descriptive Index developed by Smith, Kendall, Hulin and Job Characteristics Inventory developed by Sims, Szilagy, Keller. The responding rate was 81.7%. Data were analyzed for frequencies, means, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation and multiple regression using SPSS PC Package. The results of this study were as follows: 1) Less than a half of the sample(40.9%) were 31 to 35 years, married were 62% and junior college graduates were 33.9%. 2) A striking majority of the respondents(81.7%) ranked work itself as the the most important aspect of their jobs. 3) The dietitians were the most satisfied with work itself, then supervision, co-workers, wage and promotion in decreasing order. 4) In relations of demographic factors to the job satisfaction, satisfactions with wage and co-workers were found significantly related to education. 5) Task identity was the most prevalent job characteristics. 6) The $R^2$ for the multiple regression model was 0.26, indicating that 26% of the variance in job satisfaction could be accounted for the job characteristics. This model showed that friendship of job characteristics made the greatest contributions. The second was variety and the third was dealing with others. Especially dealing with others was negatively related to job satisfaction.
Volunteerism is an emerging issue in public resource management such as forest recreation management. As volunteers, forest interpreters play a significant role in supporting and educating visitors to forest recreation areas. The purpose of this study was to examine forest interpreters' motivation and their job satisfaction. To collect data, a set of self-administered questionnaire was sent to 250 members of Chungbuk Forest Interpreters' Association during August and September of 2005. 152 completed questionnaires were returned. Principal component factor analyses yield five motivation factors and four satisfaction factors. All the factors were highly correlated.
