  • The purpose of this study was to examine what caused bakery employees at tourist hotel to leave their job. It's basically meant to lay the foundation for increasing personnel management efficiency and reducing turnover rate, as an attempt to prevent workers from quiting their jobs would be a successful way to take advantage of human resources more efficiently. Both theoretical and experimental approaches were utilized to serve the purpose of this study. First, concerning salaries, their turnover intention was under the influence of whether they were properly paid or gained a sufficient living. Second, as for environmental factors, their turnover intention was affected by performance appraisal and interpersonal trust with colleagues. Third, regarding job-related factors, their turnover intention was impacted by whether their job was clearly defined, how much they were satisfied with their job and whether their posts were suitable. Forth, the change of job was subjected to the influence of the desire for job in another region, job in another company and another kind of job. And there should be a clear distinction between sales and other works, and they should carefully be treated so that they could find their job more satisfactory.

The Influence of Social Support on Job Satisfaction of Migrant Workers (외국인 근로자의 사회적 지지가 직무만족에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: In Korea, the number of migrant workers is increasing. However, migrant workers have low job satisfaction due to poor working environment, and insufficient social support. This study aimed to investigate the role of social support for job satisfaction of migrant workers. Method: We have analyzed the survey data of 397 migrant workers collected from free clinic for migrant workers located in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheong-do. Result: When the migrant workers received monetary and emotional supports from supervisors and colleagues, their job satisfaction turned out to be significantly high. The factors that influence job satisfaction of migrant workers are as follows: involvement in manufacturing industry, over 9 hours of daily sleep, monetary and emotional support from supervisors. Their job satisfaction strongly influenced by these factors. Conclusion: Social support will increase job satisfaction of migrant workers and it will subsequently decrease job turnover rate and increase productivity as well as quality of life.

The Analysis of Regional Stressor Level on Personal Factor and Reaction According of Radiological Technologist (방사선사의 개인요인과 반응에 따른 지역별 스트레스원 수준 분석)

  • The present study was conducted to analyze the causes of stress on the part of Korean radiological technologists depending on their working environments. For this purpose, 890 questionnaires were distributed to and collected from radiological technologists who were working at 44 general hospitals in 16 cities and provinces of Korea during the period from the mid July to the end of August 2003. The collected data were compared between regions, divided into the capital, metropolitan, medium and small cities, whose results are as follows: 1. As factors affecting working conditions, drinking was found to exert more influence on radiological technologists in small- and medium-sized cities, while loyalty to immediate seniors and organizations was the one producing greater influence on them in metropolitan cities than other cities. Overall, position, job satisfaction and physical condition seemed to have a great effect on them (p<0.001).2. In terms of factors related to their roles, job satisfaction and physical condition played in general a greater role for radiological technologists (p<0.001). Immediate seniors and behavioral conducts were also found to have a lot influence on them (p<0.01).3. As for job conflicts, the kind of medical institutions seemed to exercise a great deal of impact on radiological technologists (p<0.05), while colleagues, immediate seniors, job satisfaction and physical conditions also produced a lot of influence on them as a whole (p<0.001).4. Regarding job autonomy, radiological technologists were found to have been less influenced by position in metropolitan cities and by immediate seniors in the capital city (p<0.01). As a whole, however, age and job satisfaction acted as decisive factors of influence on them (p<0.001). 5. Among factors related to job burden, gender played a bigger role for radiological technologists in metropolitan cities as the kind of medical institutions did in small- and medium-sized cities. Centrally, job satisfaction and behavioral conducts exercised a great impact on them (p<0.001).6. Job stability seemed to be more immensely linked to gender and physical conditions in metropolitan cities whereas position did more in the capital city. In general, how ever, job satisfaction produced a far-reaching (p<0.001).

Relationship between Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment According to Employment Types : Focusing on the Moderating Effect of Employment Types (고용형태별 직무만족과 조직몰입의 관계 : 고용형태의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational commitment according to employment types. As a result of this study, firstly, while there is a significant difference in the job itself satisfaction between regular and contingent workers, there is no significant difference in the organizational commitment between regular and contingent workers. Concretely, a job itself satisfaction degree is higher in contingent workers rather than in regular ones, and the level of organizational commitment is no difference between regular and contingent workers. Secondly, there is no moderating effect according to employment types in job satisfaction influencing on organizational commitment. In addition, there is a partially difference in the job satisfaction factor having influence on regular and contingent workers' organizational commitment. That is, it is confirmed that the satisfaction of job itself in regular workers has influence on organizational commitment positively, and the satisfaction of job itself, promotion, and supervisor in contingent workers has influence on organizational commitment positively.

The Influence of Leadership of Head Nurses on Job Satisfaction and Job Performance of Staff Nurses (수간호사의 리더십 유형이 일반간호사의 직무만족도와 간호업무성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the leadership of head nurses on the job satisfaction and job performance of staff nurses. The leadership styles of head nurses were classified to "authority-oriented" and "benevolence-oriented" based on korean traditional culture. The subjects of this study were 450 staff nurses working at medical-surgical units, intensive care units, emergency units of general hospitals in Kyungbuk area. Data were collected from March 13 to March 25 with several scales for the measurement of leadership styles of head nurses, job satisfaction and job performance of staff nurses. The Cronchbach alphas for the scales were. 79 in "authority-oriented" leadership style, 90 in "benevolence-oriented" leadership style, .91 in job satisfaction, .97 in job performance. Data were analyzed with SAS program using statistics of percentage, means, standard deviation, Pearson correlation, ANOVA and ANCOVA. The results were : 1. There were significant correlations between benevolence-oriented leadership style and job satisfaction, job performance of staff nurses(r=.24, p=.000 ; r=.12, p=.008), authority-oriented leadership style of head nurses and job satisfaction of staff nurses(r=.12 ; p=.024). 2. There were significant differences in job satisfaction of staff nurses by age and clinical career(F=10.36, p=.000 ; F=7.63, p=.000). Also there were significant differences in job performance of staff nurses by age, religion, marriage and clinical career(F=17.79, p=.000 ; F=2.89, p=.035 ; F=4.41, p=.036 ; F=14.33, p=.000). 3. There was significant differences in job satisfaction by the leadership style of head nurses. The job satisfaction of staff nurses with benevolence-oriented head nurses was higher than those with authority

Influence of Job Stress and Professional Self-concept on Job Satisfaction among Nurses in Rehabilitation Units (재활병동 간호사의 직무 스트레스와 전문직 자아개념이 직무만족에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to define the relationships between job stress, professional self-concept, and job satisfaction among nurses in rehabilitation units and to identify factors that influence job satisfaction. Methods: This study surveyed 240 nurses working at the rehabilitation units of 10 hospitals located in G City. To collect the data, nurses' job stress, the professional self-concept of nurses instrument (PSCNI), and the Korean-Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (K-MSQ) were used. The data were analyzed through t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: The scores for job stress, professional self-concept, and job satisfaction were $3.34{\pm}0.61$, $72.36{\pm}8.64$ and $3.17{\pm}0.39$, respectively. Job satisfaction and job stress showed a low-level negative correlation with statistical significance (r=-.13, p=.042), whereas a medium-level positive correlation was found between job satisfaction and professional self-concept (r=.46, p<.001). Job stress, professional self-concept, total career length and size of working hospital explained approximately 25.8% of job satisfaction (F=17.52, p<.001). Conclusion: Considering the results in this study, it is necessary to develop a practical educational program to establish positive professional self-concept for nurses in rehabilitation units. Such efforts must be supported by clinical nursing administrations through policies aimed at reducing job stress and increasing job satisfaction.

The Effects of work and psychosocial stress on job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and leaving intention in general hospital female office workers (종합병원 사무직 여성의 직무 및 사회심리적 스트레스가 직무만족, 조직몰입, 이직의향에 미치는 영향)

  • This study tires to examine affects that job and socio-psychological stresses of female office workers influence job satisfaction, organization commitment, and leaving intentions. A complete data are collected by conducting a survey with 240 female office workers from 9 medical institutions regarded as almost general hospital in Seoul. It is analyzed that the relation between socio-psychological stress and job satisfaction, organization commitment, and leaving intentions by using t-test; analysis of variance; correlation analysis; principal component analysis; linear structural equation modeling; etc. The results of this study are summarized as following. First, as it was comprehended by specific characteristics of subjects that the female office workers' level of job and socio-psychological stress, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and leaving intention, there were statistically significant distinctions from their age, marital status, presence of children, position in the organization, type of employment, and monthly average income. Second, this study regarded relationship between the female office workers' level of job and socio-psychological stresses, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and leaving intention. Job and socio-psychological stresses were negatively correlated with job satisfaction and organizational commitment, but the stresses were positive with leaving intention. Third, after evaluating effect that 8 features related to the job stress could influence job stress, the most effective valuables were in order to unfairness in organizational structure, workplace culture, inadequate compensation, and relationship conflict. Fourth, when looking at the overall effects of the job and sociopsychological stresses on job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and leaving intention, work autonomy was the most influencing factor of work stress levels. The level of the job stress seemed to be a prevalent impact on the leaving intention and it showed the most negative relationship that path coefficient from leaving intention to organizational commitment and also from organizational commitment to job satisfaction. Based on these findings, it can be defined that the job and socio-psychological stresses strongly influence job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and leaving intention.

  • Purpose of this study was to comprehend the influence that worker's lob stress caused by the distinct characteristics of construction work affect on construction management. Proven through previous studies of job stress measurement method, physical environment, job demands, job autonomy, interpersonal conflict are derived as typical factors. We analyzed causal relationships between the factors using structural equation modeling under the hypothesis that job stress have effect on the construction management. As a result, successful job stress management for construction management plan is proposed.

  • Job characteristics have influence on the organizational effectiveness. The job characteristics are the core job dimension and organizational effectiveness. Aptitude and personality also act on job characteristics. In this study, we investigate chinese characters by province and city. The purpose of this study is to develop the job characteristics and organizational effectiveness model for chinese by province and city. Consequently, we suggest to be applied the model to korean finns strategically, which push into China, by view of improvement of organizational effectiveness and adaptation in China.

The Influence of Satisfaction with Workplace Child-Care on the Parenting Stress, Job Commitment, and Job Satisfaction of Parents (부모의 직장보육시설만족도가 양육스트레스, 직무몰입과 직무만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of satisfaction with workplace child-care on the parenting stress, job commitment, and job satisfaction of parents. The questionnaires survey of this study was conducted on 185 parent-employees (97 fathers & 88 mothers) who used employer-supported child-care in the province of Kyungki-do. The results of this study were as follows: As the level of satisfaction with workplace child-care became higher, the level of parenting stress became lower. And as the level of satisfaction with workplace child-care became higher, the level of job commitment and job satisfaction became higher. Among five components of satisfaction with workplace child-care, satisfaction with the environment for child-care had an independent influence on parenting stress. And satisfaction with the management of child-care facility had an independent influence on job commitment and job satisfaction. This study suggested that education programs that target employers need to raise employers' awareness about the importance of workplace child-care in order to reduce parenting stress and to enhance job commitment and job satisfaction of parent-employees.
