  • This paper studies the restoration of Jeongeup notated in Daeakhubo to a singable song. Firstly, the melody of Jeongeup was restored by finding the rhythm of Jeongeup. Secondly, Jeongeup lyric written in Akhakgwebeom was added to the restored melody. Lastly, the musical style of restored Jeongeup song was investigated. The rhythm of Jeongeup was found to be the same as Jinjak's rhythm whose measure consists of four ternary subdivided beats. It is because the Jangdan of Jeongeup contains that of Jinjak. The Jangdan of Jeongeup is played one touch in a measure. Such ternary subdivided beat and one Janggo's touch in a measure were transmitted to today's Sujecheon. The lyric of Jeongeup was added to the restored melody of Jeongeup by following the lyric rules of Jinjak1,2 and Hoengsalmun. The lyric rules of Jinjak 1,2 and Hoengsalmun are as follows. One syllable is sung in two measures, Eodanseongjang 語短聲長 appears, long lasting tunes are mostly applied to Jang of Eodanseongjang 語短聲長, and syllables begin at the first beat in a measure. The musical style of Jeongeup is basically similar to that of Jinjak1, but there are some differences. They are similar in the sense that the melody is very long compared to the lyric and Eodanseongjang 語短聲長 appears. They are different in the sense that Jeongeup uses grace notes rather than Sigimsae when one tune lasts long. Jeongeup in Daeakhubo seems to have undergone changes, and its rhythm is likely to have been expanded two to four times in order to match Mugo dance after being used as an accompaniment to Mugo dance.

  • Many studies have reported that bleomycin, anti-cancer drug, induces pulmonary fibrosis as a side effect. However, few investigations have focused on the dose-response effects of bleomycin on pulmonary fibrosis. Therefore, in the present study, we investigated the effects of different doses of bleomycin in male mice. ICR mice were given 3 consecutive doses of bleomycin: 1, 2, or 4 mg/kg in bleomycin-treated (BT) groups and saline only in vehicle control (VC) groups. The animals were sacrificed at 7 and 24 days postinstillation. The severity of pulmonary fibrosis was evaluated according to inflammatory cell count and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity in the broncho alveolar lavage fluid (BALF), and lung tissues were histologically evaluated after hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), and Masson's trichrome staining. BT groups exhibited changed cellular profiles in BAL fluid compared to the VC group, which had an increased number of total cells, neutrophils, and lymphocytes and a modest increase in the number of macrophages at 7 days post-bleomycin instillation. Moreover, BT groups showed a dose-dependent increase in LDH levels and inflammatory cell counts. However, at 24 days after treatment, collagen deposition, interstitial thickening, and granulomatous lesions were observed in the alveolar spaces in addition to a decrease in inflammatory cells. These results indicate that pulmonary fibrosis induced by 4 mg/kg bleomycin was more severe than that induced by 1 or 2 mg/kg. These data will be utilized in experimental animal models and as basic data to evaluate therapeutic candidates through non-invasive monitoring using the pulmonary fibrosis mouse model established in this study.

  • This survey was carried out to investigate the seroprevalence of antibodies to Neospora caninum in Korean indigenous cattle that was representative livestock raised in Jeongeup province Jeonbuk Korea. A total of 1,162 sera were tested for N caninum antibodies using ELISA (Herdcheck anti-Neospora. IDEXX Laboratories Inc., Westbrook, Maine USA). $15(1.3\%)$ sera were positive by ELISA. A total of 290 farms were tested. $11(3.8\%)$ farms were positive. Among the seroprevalence of cattle according to the areas, 8 of 44 counties were infected N caninum. Sero-positive 11 farms of N caninum antibodies using ELISA test and 62 of 301 sera $(20.6\%)$ were infected to N caninum. We found that cattle be raised in Jeongeup province was slightly infected to N caninum. It seems to be infected of N caninum an early stage. but the positive rates was variable that it was $6\%\~62\%$. It was supposed to the highest positive rate of 3 farms had some factors to be infected. The factors were supposed to keep dogs yearly, located the base of hills, and almost feed with imported dried grass. Farmers suppose to the cause of abortion was not the neosporosis but also broke out an accident or was infected Brucella spp. The results of Brucella Rose Bengal Test (RBT) were all negative.

  • In recent decades, titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) nanoparticles have been used in various applications, including paints, coatings, and food. However, data are lacking on the toxicological aspects associated with their use. The aim of this study was to assess the inhalation toxicity of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles in rats by using inhalation exposure. Male Wistar rats were exposed to $TiO_2$ nanoparticles for 2 weeks (6 hr/day, 5 days/week) at a mean mass concentration of $11.39{\pm}0.31mg/m^3$. We performed time-course necropsies at 1, 7, and 15 days after exposure. Lung inflammation and injury were assessed on the basis of the total and individual cell counts in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), and by biochemical assays, including an assay for lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). Furthermore, histopathological examination was performed to investigate the lungs and nasal cavity of rats. There were no statistically significant changes in the number of BALF cells, results of biochemical assays of BALF and serum, and results of cytokine analysis. However, we did observe histopathological changes in the nasal cavity tissue. Lesions were observed at post-exposure days 1 and 7, which resolved at post-exposure day 15. We also calculated the actual amounts of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles inhaled by the rats. The results showed that the degree of toxicity induced by $TiO_2$ nanoparticles correlated with the delivered quantities. In particular, exposure to small particles with a size of approximately 20 nm resulted in toxicity, even if the total particle number was relatively low.

  • SBovine tuberculosis is a chronic bacterial disease of animals and humans caused by Mycobacterium bovis. Besides the classical intradermal tuberculin test, a number of blood and serum tests have been used. The purpose of this study was to establish seroprevalence of M. bovis. The sera were screened using the ELISA technique. A total seroprevalence of 65.8% in positive cattle, suspect 36.0%, negative 5.9% in TB-infected herds by PPD and dairy cattle is 3.0%, Hanwoo is 1.6% in TB-free herds. The deer of seroprevalence is 55.0% in TB-infected herd and 7.7% in TB-free herds.
