  • We studied the effect of methanol extract of Carpopeltis affinis (CA) on atopic allergic reaction. CA dose-dependently inhibited interleukin (IL)-8 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-$\alpha$ secretion from the PMA- plus A23187- stimulated HMC-1. CA also dose-dependently inhibited the histamine and $\beta$-hexosaminidase release from mast cells. CA had no cytotoxic effect. (omitted)

  • In this paper, range measurement performance of LRF (Laser Range Finder) module and image contrast of color CCD camera are evaluated under the aerosol (high temperature steam) environments, which are simulated severe accident conditions of the LWR (Light-Water-Reactor) nuclear power plant. Data of LRF and color CCD camera are key informations, which are needed in the implementation of SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) function for emergency response robot system to cope with urgently accidents of the nuclear power plant.

  • A transportation problem is a serious theme to be solved urgently in the motor era of 20 million vehicles. Recently ITS has been introduced to optimize the efficiency of the current roads, because a excess budget and a long term construction are necessary to build new roads.   • We demonstrate 4-in QVGA active-matrix electrophoretic display based on ink-jet printed organic transistors on glass substrates. Our TFT array had a bottom-gate, bottom-contact device architecture. The organic semiconductor and gate dielectric were solution processed. The field-effect mobility of the printed devices, calculated in the saturation region, was $0.1{\sim}0.3cm^2/Vs$ at Vg=-20 V.

  • 200m 이하의 전송거리를 가지며 송신기와 수신기가 일체화된 단거리 무선 광통신용 트랜시버를 제작하고, 그 성능을 평가하였다. 이러한 단거리 무선 광통신 트랜시버는 가격이 저렴한 저출력의 레이저를 광원으로 사용할 수 있고, 능동 정렬이 필요 없을 뿐만 아니라, 작은 구경의 렌즈를 사용할 수 있기 때문에 크기가 작고, 가벼우며, 설치가 쉽다는 장점을 가진다. 특히 패키징 개념을 사용하여 송신기와 수신기의 광축을 미리 수평으로 정렬한 후 영구고정함으로서 기계공작이 최소화되고, 송신기 부분의 정렬만으로 수신기가 정렬되므로 링크의 정렬이 매우 간단하며, 저렴한 무선 광통신 시스템의 구성이 가능하다.

  • 155Mbps 단거리용 무선 광통신 모듈을 120m 의 짧은 거리에 설치하였다. 그 결과 99.98% 이상의 error free availability와 99.99% 이상의 severely error free second rating을 가졌다. error의 요인을 분석한 결과 30mm/h 정도의 비에도 크게 영향을 받지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 맑은 날에도 error가 발생하였는데 그 원인은 날아가는 새와 같은 물체가 링크를 가리기 때문이었다.

  • We describe a detailed numerical scheme to calculate electron transport in quantum wires using the Green function formalism combined with tight-binding orbital basis. As an example of the application, we study the electron transport in a Si nanowire containing a finite potential barrier. The effects of nonzero bias, temperature, and disorder on the barrier-induced oscillatory conductance are investigated within the context of coherent transport model. The oscillatory behavior of the conductance as a function of the Fermi energy is found to be highly sensitive to sample disorder and limited to a very low temperature and a small bias range.

  • Biosafety has become quite sensitive issues according to dramatic development of biotechnology and LMO(Living Modifying Organism) is one of the key issue in biosafety. This study is an exploratory research for investigating the activation strategy of biosafety training management in LMO research field. Based on the survey data, main results are derived through various statistical analysis methodology such as descriptive analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, analysis of variance and regression analysis. According to the analysis results, some activation strategies are required to reach the target such as extension of specialized biosafety training program, enhancement of safety consciousness from the undergraduate courses, introduction of appropriate safety regulations, unification of safety management and establishment of safety management system.

  • A novel driving technology of PDP, which enables to decrease the sustain voltage of conventional technology by half without lowering the gas discharging voltage. This technology, realizable without much increased cost of the semiconductor devices, gives a significant improvement in the power efficiency, essential for the design of a drive circuit for PDP. A comparative analysis and experimental results are presented to show the validity of the proposed driving technology.
