The purpose of this study is to measure fundamental data required for the prediction of rice quality and to develop regression models to predict protein, amylose, moisture and fatty acid contents, and Toyo taste meter value (TTMV) of brown and polished rice from hulled rice NIR spectra. NIR spectra of hulled rice measured in transmittance mode (850-1050 nm) and in reflectance mode (400-2500 nm) were used to predicted chemical compositions of brown rice and polished rice. For most chemicals, the transmittance spectra could provide better calibration results than the reflectance ones. Beside the Toyo taste meter value (TTMV), the hulled rice spectra could predict chemical contents with the determination coefficients higher than 0.8. Spectra of hulled rice measured in transmittance mode could be used for the prediction of chemical compositions in brown rice and polished rice precisely. However, taste value of polished rice was a constituent that was hardly to be predicted.
With the use of Agrobacterium and gene-gun, cold regulated gene (BN115) has been injected in Chrysanthemum leaf disc and transgenic plants have been produced successfully on the selection media containing phytohormone. To determine the presence of the transferred cold regulated gene (BN115) in the transgenic Chrysanthemum, PCR-amplification indicated the presence of that gene. Real-Time PCR for confirmation of the putative transgenic plants was established. The copy number of cold regulated gene (BN115) is extrapolated on the basis of a standard curve. Serial dilutions of known number of gene copies were in triplicates. In this diagram, PCR cycles are plotted against the fluorescence intensity. The cycle at which the fluorescence reaches a threshold cycle is inversely proportional to the starting amount of target DNA.
From 2017 to 2019, the ovipositional and the developmental characteristics of Gampsocleis ussuriensis Adelung in the Buan area of Jeonbuk Province were examined. G. ussuriensis were mostly found in the weeded areas around the reservoir, where the adults first appeared in mid-July, showed up where by the early September, and overwintered in eggs. Nymphs appeared in early April to mid-July the next year. The nymphs hatched from early April and adults appeared after molting five times. The ovipositional period of G. ussuriensis was approximately 58 days. The total number of eggs per female was 124. The mean longevity of adults was 95.6 days for females and 84.8 days for males. Ovipositional mats were best with mixed Masato and Coco-Pitt at a ratio of 7:3. Developmental period of G. ussuriensis nymphs was 64.1 days at 24℃ and was longer than at different temperatures. The higher the temperature, the shorter the developmental period. The survival rate of nymphs was the best at 32℃ in 77.8%. The higher the density while rearing, the lower the survival rate, and the faster the development and molting velocity.

This study was examined to establish a conditions for producing Tteokbokki using dry-milling rice flour which can save manpower and labor time. Since the cost of producing rice flour milled in a wet condition is 500 to 700 won/kg, which is more than twice as much as that of 300 won wheat flour, it is necessary to directly make rice flour from raw rice. The dry-milling rice flour used in the experiment was produced by Air mill (Nara machinary co. ltd., Tokyo, Japan) from 5 rice cultivars (Samkwang, Dasan-1, Boramchan, Seolgaeng, Hanareum-2), which were cultivated in A-san in 2015 year. Their particle sizes were 50, 100 and $150{\mu}m$ for each cultivar, respectively. A control was a wet-milled rice flour milled with a roll mill after the rice was soaked in water for 4 hours. The moisture content of dry-milling rice flour based on cultivars was 11 ~ 12%, and added water up to 50~55% of dry-milling rice flour weight. The RVA characteristic of peak viscosity was the highest in Dasan-1 and Hanareum-2, the lowest in Seolgaeng. The setback value used as an indicator of aging was the highest in Dasan-1, therefore Dasan-1 was expected to be quick solidification, resulting in the low tendency of sensory evaluation. The damaged starch was high in Dasan-1 and Boramchan (p<0.05) compared to others. The Hunter color L were no significant among cultivars and b value increased in all cultivars of dry-milling rice flour compared with control. The hardness of dry-milling rice flour was higher than that of the control, especially Dasan-1 and Hanareum-2 were the highest. Based on the sensory evaluation, the best cultivars were Boramchan, Hanareum-2 and Samkwang. The overall preference of dry-milling rice flour was good in particle size of 50~100um.

Being producing and evaluating oat-chocolate were a major goal in this study. There were various steps to make oat-chocolate. First, oat was roasted with an optimum roasting-temperature. Second, discovered the best natural antioxidant to extend storage period and improve quality of goods. Third, developed processing goods and made an evaluation of quality properties. We selected optimum roasting condition of $160^{\circ}C$ for 15 min based on the acid value and the sensory characteristics such as color, taste, smell and overall preference of oat flour. As for natural antioxidants, we made use of 3 kinds of antioxidants (cactus, lavender and green tea) and two concentrations (0.5 and 1%). In investigating antioxidants, an acid value was significantly decreased as the antioxidants were added (p<0.05). Nothing was as low in acid value as a chocolate with 1 % lavender flour in 7 days. Findings showed the sensory characteristics of products containing antioxidants such as green tea and cactus, were higher than those of Cont. in 7 days. A product including 0.5% green tea marked the best sensory score among antioxidants. Compared cost among 3 antioxidants, green tea was the cheapest. In the end, 0.5% green tea was selected as an optimal antioxidant to make high-quality oat chocolate. We made an end product by mixing green tea (0.5%) and oat. With respect to Hunter's color L (whiteness), a (redness) and b (yellowness), as green tea added, L and a level showed an increasing tendency. However, an opposition result was expressed in b level. When compared pH value and total acidity, it was statistically identical between Cont. and product with 0.5% green tea (G-0.5). There was different acid value among specimens. The acid value of G-0.5 was lower than that of Cont. up to 7 days, resulting in lower acid value than a ready-made product (D-Co.). When we assessed the sensory characteristics, G-0.5 was higher than other specimens such as Cont. and ready-made products (D-Co. and H-Co.) up to 6 days after manufacture. Put previous findings together, the addition of 0.5% green tea increased an antioxidative effect as well as the sensory acceptability of oat-chocolate.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect on agricultural environment and crop productivity by different amount of applied fertilizer in consideration of irrigation water quality. N, P and K contents of irrigation water used in this experiment were 6.16, 0.26 and 9.37 mg/L, respectively. N, P and K Concentrations of runoff water were lower than those of inflow water during rice cultivation. N, P and K Concentrations of ponded and percolated water were changed according to the amount and time of applied fertilization. During rice cultivation in paddy soil, nitrogen balance was closed to 0 in SFT 50% (50% level of soil testing fertilization), 0.14 kg/ha, but it was 95.3 kg/ha in CF (conventional fertilization) treatment In SW 50% and STF (soil testing fertilization) treatment yield of perfect rice was not greatly different as compared with CF treatment due to the superiority of ripening rate, 1,000 grains weight and milling characteristics. Mechanical paratability of rice was excellent in NF (non fertilization) treatment, STF 50% treatment showed higher in nutrient availability and fertilizers use efficiency than other treatments.
Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) has been used as a tool for the rapid, accurate and nondestructive assay of the fresh rice leaf in nitrogen content. NIRS used in this study was visible and near infrared spectroscopy type instrument, Foss model 6500. To obtain a useful calibration equation, standard regression between the data was analyzed by chemical analysis and by NIRS method. Accuracy of calibration equation for nitrogen content on fresh leaf of rice were 0.879, 0.858 and 0.819, respectively. Accuracy of calibration equation after outlier treatment increased as 0.017, 0.02 and 0.061 improved each with 0.896, 0.878 and 0.880, respectively. Calibration equation combined using merge function after accuracy of calibration equation more increased by 0.911. Difference analysis value between calibration equation and lab value by kjeldahl showed $0.001\%$. With this as same result is the possibility of closing the deterioration of the sample in order to omit a construction and pulverization process it is judged with the fact that the nitrogen content measurement of the fresh rice leaf which the possibility of reducing an hour and an expense is by a near infrared spectroscopy technique will be possible.
The purpose of this study was to measure fundamental data required for the prediction of milling ratios, and to develop regression models to predict the head rice ratio of milled rice using NIR spectra of hulled rice. A total of 81 rice samples used in this study were collected from Jeongeup, Jeonbuk province in 2006. NIR spectra were measured using one mode of measurement, reflection. The reflectance spectra were measured in the wavelength region of 400-2500 nm with an NIR spectrophotometer "NIRSystems 6500" (Foss, Silverspring, USA). Calibration equations were developed by the modified partial least squares (MPLS), partial least squares (PLS), and principal components regression (PCR). Math treatments were 1-4-4-1, 1-10-10-1, 2-4-4-1, and 2-10-10-1. The software used was WinISI (Infrasoft International, State College, USA). Automatic head rice production and quality checking system used was "SY2000-AHRPQCS" (Ssangyong, Korea). The calibration was made with the first derivative and the spectrum designated was in 8 nm interval. The determination coefficients of head rice ratios were 0.8353, 0.8416 and 0.5277 for the MPLS, PLS and PCR, respectively. Those obtained with 20 nm interval were 0.8144, 0.8354 and 0.6908 for the MPLS, PLS and PCR, respectively. The calibration was made with second derivative that spectrum designated was 8 nm in interval. The determination coefficients of head rice ratios were 0.7994, 0.8017 and 0.4473 for the MPLS, PLS and PCR, respectively. Those with 20 nm interval were 0.8004, 0.8493 and 0.6609 for the MPLS, PLS and PCR, respectively. These results indicate that the accuracy of determination coefficient for MPLS and PLS is higher than that of PCR.
BACKGROUND: Organic fertilizers in watermelon cultivation are widely used to supply nutrient and organic matter. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of application rate of organic fertilizer on the watermelon growth and soil chemical properties in greenhouse METHODS AND RESULTS: The organic fertilizers used in this experiment were mixed expeller cake (MEC) and mixed organic fertilizer (MOF). The treatments were conducted with 4 levels (1.0 N, 0.7 N, 0.5 N and 0.3 N) on the basis of soil testing nitrogen fertilization (STNF) using MEC or MOF as the basal dressing, and using chemical fertilizers (CF) as the additional dressing on the rest of STNF. These fertilizations were compared to CF 1.0 N (0.3 N as the basal and 0.7 N as the additional dressing) and non fertilization (NF). The leaf area of watermelon in treatment 0.5 N and 0.3 N using MEC or MOF was similar to CF treatment. The absorbed nutrient amounts by leaf, weight and sugar contents of fruit in the 0.5 N and 0.3 N treatments were higher than other treatments. In 0.5 N and 0.3 N treatments using MEC or MOF on the basis of STNF, soil chemical properties such as electrical conductivity (EC), available $P_2O_5$ and exchangeable K concentrations after experiment showed tendency to decreasing or similar level before experiment. CONCLUSION(s): These results suggest that the MEC or MOF application as the basal dressing at the 30~50% level of STNF and CF application as the additional dressing on the rest of STNF be best to maintain adequate nutrient of soil and to increase marketable yield for watermelon.

This study was carried out to determine the economic injury level and economic threshold level on beet (Beta vulgaris L.) infested with Spoladea recurvalis in the plastic greenhouse condition in 2010. The second instar larvae of S. recurvalis were inoculated with 7 different density levels on the each 10 beet plants as a replication. Injury levels of beet leaves and density of S. recurvalis were increased with the inoculation density of S. recurvalis. However, yield and marketable commodity of beet were decreased. Linear relationship between the percent yield reduction (Y) of beet leaves and different infestation densities of S. recurvalis (X) was estimated by the following equation Y = 1.226x + 3.36. Based on the relationships between the densities of S. recurvalis larvae and yield index of beet leaves, the number of second instar larvae which caused 5% loss of yield, economic threshold level was estimated as 1.1 larvae/10 plants for the planting 10 days. The percent yield reduction (Y) of beet roots infested with different densities of S. recurvalis (X) estimated by the following equation Y = 1.537x + 1.4634 after inoculation for 10 days at 3rd harvesting of leaves. Based on the relationships between the densities of S. recurvalis larvae and yield index of beet roots, the number of second instar larvae which caused 5% loss of yield, economic threshold level was estimated as 6.4 larvae/10 plants for the planting 10 days.
