In order to obtain the superior refractory setter having better spalling resistance, cordierite was synthesized from domestic raw materials. Raw mixtures were fired between 125$0^{\circ}C$ and 140$0^{\circ}C$, and qualitative determination of crytallization was investigated by x-ray diffraction analysis. The results obtained are as follows; 1) The optimum batch composition of synthesized cordierite is 80.5% of Hadong kaolin (pink), 14% of Kyulsung tromolite talc and 5.5% of magnesia clinker, and the firing temperature is 1375$^{\circ}C$. 2) The composition of the refractory setter which exhibits the best values for the thermal properties is 40% of synthesized cordierite, 30% of kaolin chamotte(contains more than 60% of mullite), and 30% of Japanese clay. 3) The optimum particle size distribution of ternary mixture consists of 50% of coarse articles (3.327-1.168mm), 25% of intermediate particles (1.168-0.208mm) and 25% of fine particles (0.208-0.000mm).

This paper attempts to analyze the characteristics of Korean vowel production by 12 Korean native speakers and 36 adult learners. The analyses have been performed with investigations of F1and F2 values. Results showed that there's no significant difference between /ㅔ/ and /H/ and between /ㅗ/ and /ㅜ/ in Korean native speakers' pronunciations. The distinguishing tendencies found in the analyses of foreign learners' pronunciations are fronting and lowering of /ㅗ/ by English speakers, backing and heightening of /ㅓ/ by Japanese speakers and backing and lowering of /ㅏ/ by Chinese speakers. For the limitations of this paper, it has a meaning of a preliminary study and could be developed into further research to show the order of acquisition and L1 transference.

Domestic animals, including ruminants, can synthesize vitamin C (VC) in their liver; as such, the dietary requirement for VC has not been confirmed in these animals. The adequacy of VC has been evaluated by quantifying VC levels in plasma, but the reported values in bovine plasma have been widely variable. Plasma VC concentration is decreased by heat stress, hepatic lesions, fattening, and infectious diseases such as mastitis in cattle. Therefore, VC supplementation is potentially beneficial for cattle with low plasma VC concentration. This review discusses the methods for determination of plasma VC concentration in cattle, VC nutrition, and the efficacy of VC supplementation in calves, dairy cattle, and beef cattle. Additionally I propose a reference range for plasma VC concentration in Japanese Black cattle.

In the preliminary antitumor screening tests of Crude Drugs and collected plants, the methanol ic extract of Forsythia Fruits in Korean marcket showed signif icant cytotoxic activity against Chinese hamster V-79 cells, but that in Japanese market did not. The former was identifid as Forsythia viridissima Lindley and latter as F.suspensa Vahl on the basis of the morphological observation. When an aqueous solution of the extract prepared from the fruits of F. viridissima (Oleaceae) was partitioned successively with n-hexane, methylene chloride, n-butanol, the cytoyoxic activitywas concetrated in the methylene chloride extract. Fractionation of the extract was made with the guidance of bioassay against V-79 cells to give cytotoxic lignans, matariresiol (1) and arctigenin (2). Their ICso values of compounds 1 and 2 were respectively $7.8{\;}\mu\textrm{g}/ml$ 1 and $1.65{\;}\mu\textrm{g}/ml$. Also, their structures were confirmed by comparison of physical and spectral data in the literature.

Based on the success of green tea as a cancer preventive, herbal medicines are now also attracting attention as potential sources of cancer preventive agents. Using inhibition of TNF-$\alpha$ release assay, we studied Acer nikoense (Megusurino-ki in Japanese): Inhibitory potential was found in the leaf extract, and the main active constituents were identified as geraniin and corilagin. The $IC_{50}$/ values for TNF-$\alpha$ release inhibition were 43 $\mu$M for geraniin and 76 $\mu$M for corilagin, whereas that for (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)was 26 $\mu$M.(omitted)

Japanese MSAS (Multi-functional Satellite Augmentation System) satellites have been transmitting GPS satellite orbit and ionosphere correction information since 2005. MSAS coverage includes Far East Asia, and it can improve the accuracy and integrity of GPS position solutions in Korea. This research analyzed the ionosphere correction information from the MSAS ionosphere correction data. The ionosphere delay data observed by a dual frequency receiver is compared with the MSAS ionosphere correction data. The variation of MSAS GIVE values are analyzed in connection with the equatorial anomaly and ionosphere scintillation.

Drying characteristics of fresh Korean-type rehmannia (jiwhang) noodle was investigated to determine drying kinetic parameters under the experimental conditions of 5 temperatures (30, 40, 60, 80, and $90^{\circ}C$). Drying curve of the noodle showed a biphasic pattern of decrease in drying rate with initial rapid drying followed by slow dehydration as the progress in drying. In all drying conditions, only falling drying rate period was observed and the drying rate of the noodle was greatly influenced by the drying temperature. The effective diffusion coefficients ($D_{eff}$) were determined by the diffusion model and their temperature dependency was determined using an Arrhenius equation. The activation energy ($E_a$) values for the drying of the noodle were 19.94 and 21.09 kJ/mol at the initial and the latter stage of dehydration, which were comparable to those of pasta or Japanese udong dehydration.

This study will attempt to show how the marriage customs is Korea have changed due to fluctuations in Korea society and values related to this fluctuation from the Japanese colonial period to the present. The procedures for marriage consists of preparation union and absorption. Before 1960 these mainly conformed to the old marriage customs of traditional society. Nowadays the processes of preparation in marriage have been eliminated in large part the processes of union have been changed to western style and the processes of absorption have been altered to a adegree. Matching the horoscopes of a prospective bride and groom and the "marriage box" still remain from the procedures of old marriages. The meaning of marriages as familism has changed to a form that emphasizes individualism opportunism and materialism.terialism.

In this paper, two new approaches to align English-Arabic sentences in bilingual parallel corpora based on the Multi-Class Support Vector Machine (MSVM) and the Hidden Markov Model (HMM) classifiers are presented. A feature vector is extracted from the text pair that is under consideration. This vector contains text features such as length, punctuation score, and cognate score values. A set of manually prepared training data was assigned to train the Multi-Class Support Vector Machine and Hidden Markov Model. Another set of data was used for testing. The results of the MSVM and HMM outperform the results of the length based approach. Moreover these new approaches are valid for any language pairs and are quite flexible since the feature vector may contain less, more, or different features, such as a lexical matching feature and Hanzi characters in Japanese-Chinese texts, than the ones used in the current research.

The sign-language tan be used a9 an auxiliary communication means between avatars of different languages. At that time an intelligent communication method can be also utilized to achieve real-time communication, where intelligently coded data (joint angles for arm gestures and action units for facial emotions) are transmitted instead of real pictures. In this paper we design a gesture-emotion keyframe editor to provide the means to get easily the parameter values. To calculate both joint angles of the arms and the hands and to goner-ate the in keyframes realistically, a transformation matrix of inverse kinematics and some kinds of constraints are applied. Also, to edit emotional expressions efficiently, a comic-style facial model having only eyebrows, eyes nose, and mouth is employed. Experimental results show a possibility that the editor could be used for intelligent sign-language image communications between different lan-guages.
