  • This study investigates the presence of the day-of-the-week anomaly in exchange rate for 30 developing countries with free floating exchange rate regimes using daily data from January 2, 2011 to December 31, 2019. First, we apply the GARCH panel to estimate the intraday effect for all the sampled countries. Second, we run poolability test to check whether the coefficients of the GARCH panel are the same for all countries sampled. The result of poolability test rejects the homogeneity assumption. This implies that our sample countries contain heterogeneity. Third, we apply mean-group estimation by averaging the coefficients for all individual GARCH estimations. Fourth, we divided our sample of developing countries into three groups based on capital restriction index for the reason that the effect of monetary policy on the exchange rate depends on the degree of capital account liberalization. The empirical evidence for the return equation suggests that Mondays are connected with lower volatility whereas Thursdays experiences higher return compared to Tuesdays. The lowest estimated coefficient for full sample, group 1 and group 2, is Friday, but for group 2 is Thursday. We find similar result for the volatility equations, which show that Monday returns are lower compared to Tuesday.

  • Purpose - This study examines the information effect of the disclosure of new office investments on the Korean stock market and investigates determinant of performance of sample firms. Design/methodology/approach - The sample consists of companies listed on the Korean Exchange that announced investments in new office construction for eleven-years from January 2007 to December 2017. It analyzes excess return using event study methodology and studies the determinants of abnormal return with multiple regression analysis. Findings - We find that abnormal returns of the short and long window are positive on average and statistically significant. In particular, CAR of high growth subsample is a larger positive return than that of the low one both short and long window. Difference in abnormal returns by investment size is observed only in short time window. But there is not observed difference by cash holding level. Research implications or Originality - This finding is able to be added to the evidence of the theory of corporate value maximization academically. Moreover, it shows the possibility that building a new office can have a positive effect on corporate value. It is expected to help investors make decisions because it can provide useful information to market participants in practice.

  • In this study, the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior (ETPB) was applied to analyze consumers' intention to purchase meal kits. The perception of ESG management practiced by companies was used as a moderating variable to investigate its influence and moderating effects between each variable. An online survey was conducted over 4 days in January 2023 on consumers aged 20 years or older who had purchased meal kits within 6 months. Hypotheses were tested using IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 and AMOS 24.0 programs with an effective sample size of 324 copies (100%). Attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, perceived sustainable package, and price sensitivity of the theory of planned behavior toward meal kit products had a significant positive effect on purchase intention, and all research hypotheses were accepted. The moderating effect of consumers' perceptions of ESG management practiced by companies had a positive and significant effect on attitude and perceived behavioral control.

  • Purpose: The main purpose of this meta-analysis was to identify the degree of effect size and variables for the impact of manual physical therapy on the improvement in the range of motion of frozen shoulder patients. Methods: This study collected 8 studies published between 1st January 2010 and 31st December 2020. The analysis of the results verified 49 effect size data and the random effect model was chosen. Results: First, the full case showed the largest mean effect size of 2.485 (p<0.001). Second, the size of the effect based on manual therapy and modality therapy showed an effect size of 4.178 (p<0.001). Third, the outcome group included 6 variables. The external rotation (2.818) variable group showed the largest mean effect size, followed by internal rotation (2.748), flexion (2.643), abduction (2.356), and adduction (2.356). Six outcomes were significant and the mean effect sizes of all the varied groups were above large size. The number of participants showed a 20 or less effect size of 2.478 (p>0.737). The number of intervention periods showed 4 weeks 20 or more effect size of 2.782 (p>0.294). Finally, the 'Trim and Fill' result confirmed that the calibration effect size was 1.471 (p<0.001). Conclusion: This study verified that manual physical therapy had a substantial effect on the improvement of the range of motion of patients with frozen shoulders and that the effects were dependent on the methods of outcomes.

  • The influence of a marketing mix on the consumer purchasing process is well documented in academic fields; however, studies of when consumers purchase fashion brands or products in terms of the day-of-the-week effect and 10-days-of-the-month effect on various channels to a given brand in practice are limited in the fashion industry. This study empirically describes the purchase timing behavior for athletic shoes using daily sales data from a domestic brand in Korea from January in 2006 to December in 2010. The results show that Saturday and Sunday have significantly higher sales than weekdays. In addition, the first and third 10-days-of-the-month yield a higher sales volume than the second 10-days-of-the-month. The department store's sales volume (compared with discount and franchised stores) was higher in the first 10-days-of-the-month; however, the discount and franchised stores have a higher sales volume in the second 10-days-of-the-month. Three store types have no significant differences in sales volume for the third 10-days-of-the-month. Based on the results, in practice, marketers for a specific domestic brand can develop a new marketing expenditure plan, store supply plan, and cash-in and cash-out plan to maximize profits. This research can introduce constructs such as purchase timing distribution, the day-of-the-week effect, and the ten-days-of-the-month effect for the fashion industry.

  • Background and Objectives: Most of tracheal stenosis is resulted from longstanding endotracheal tube insertion. Treatments of tracheal stenosis are divided conservative and reconstructive treatment. The propose of this study was to evaluate the effect of prosthetic tracheal T-tube insertion on tracheal stenostic patients who can not be operated invasive surgery. Subjects and Method : Nine prosthetic tracheal T-tube insertion were studied from 9 patients from January 2002 to April 2007. The effect of silastic T-tube was analyzed according to the factors that were respiratory difficulty, oxygen saturation, phonation, aspiration and significant complications. Results: Four patients were good for respiration and no complication. But five patients occur various complications. A successful group did not have cartilagenous lesions but failed group had catilagenous lesions, infection and necrosis. • Post-thoracotomy pain is so severe that lead to postoperative pulmonary complications due to the patient`s inability to cough, deep breathing and chest wall motion. Many authors have been trying to reduce the post-thoracotomy pain, but there is no method of complete satisfaction. In 1990, we reported the result that the cryoanalgesia reduce the immediate postoperative pain significantly. We try to compare the effect of cyroanalgesia with the effect of Bupivacain intercostal nerve block for the post-thoracotomy pain control. Ninety patients, who undergoing thoracotomy in Korea University Medical Center Guro Hospital between the January 1993 and September 1993, were evaluated. The patients were divided into three groups : Group A, control, the patients without pain control procedure [N=30], Group B, the patients with Bupivacain intercostal nerve block [N=30], Group C, the patients with cryoanalgesia [N=30]. Postoperative analgesic effects were evaluated by the scoring system which made arbiturary by author. The results were that the Bupivacain intercostal nerve block markedly reduced the immediate postoperative pain compare with two other groups, the cryoanalgesia reduced the immediate postoperative pain significantly compare with control group, the pain reduction effect of the two groups- cryoanalgesia and Bupivacain intercostal nerve block- were not different at postoperative seventh day, probably due to the action time of Bupivacain and the result that there were no significant complications of the procedures.
