  • Global Positioning System (GPS) is used in various fields such as communications systems, transportation systems, e-commerce, power plant systems, and up to various military weapons systems recently. However, GPS receiver is vulnerable to jamming signals as the GPS signals come from the satellites located at approximately 20,000 km above the earth. For this reason, various anti-jamming techniques have been developed for military application systems especially and it is also required for commercial application systems nowadays. In this paper, we proposed a dual-channel Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) RF ASIC for digital pre-correlation anti-jam technique. It not only covers all GNSS frequency bands, but is integrated low-gain/attenuation mode in low-noise amplifier (LNA) without influencing in/out matching and 14-bit analogdigital converter (ADC) to have a high dynamic range. With the aid of digital processing, jamming to signal ratio is improved to 77 dB from 42 dB with proposed receiver. RF ASIC for anti-jam is fabricated on a 0.18-μm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology and consumes 1.16 W with 2.1 V (low-dropout; LDO) power supply. And the performance is evaluated by a kind of test hardware using the designed RF ASIC.

  • In this paper, a cooperative jamming network with multiple relays and multiple eavesdroppers is investigated. Among the relays, one best relay is selected to amplify and forward the signal to destination through two phases. To confuse eavesdroppers, the destination transmits a jamming signal in the first phase and the source transmits jamming signal in the second phase. Secrecy rate of this system is derived, and based on the available channel state information (CSI), relay selection schemes are proposed, respectively. Numerical results show that the performance of the proposed relay selection scheme outperforms than that of random relay selection scheme.

  • In this paper, I design a linear array antenna simulator for anti-jamming GPS systems and perform various performance analysis by simulation. First, I generate simulated transmission signals through the analysis of GPS satellite signal structure, and analyze SNR(Signal to Noise power Ratio) performance of linear array antenna according to number of arrays under noise environments. In addition, I analyze the performance of the anti-jamming beam pattern using MMSE(Minimum Mean Square Error) signal processing method, and also analyze the anti-jamming performance considering antenna calibration problem when there are different delays between arrays.

  • A distributed zero-beamforming based cooperative jamming technique is useless when an eavesdropper detects the sharing seed. In addition, the currently alternatives are very limited when the eavesdropper is located nearby a source for wiretapping. This letter presents a solution to this extreme case. Relay randomly generates and transmits a binary jamming message to both source and destination in the first phase. When these two receivers securely and correctly decode the message, the source creates and transmits another message based on the use of exclusive-or for its information message and the decoded message. Consequently, the next transmission can avoid the eavesdropping.

  • A key difference between a tactical military and commercial satcom system is that the military system is expected to provide a service in the presence of ECM threats such as jamming. In this paper, we analyzed the three different type of link system applicable to the military satellite and directly compared to each system in order to find system performance according to the maximum jammer power. For the analysis, we modeled and simulated the SHF satellite system based on uplink jamming. From the results, it is found for each different type of link the maximum jammer power that can be tolerated with link operating at its suggested nominal rate. Also, we studied to the survivability level against the jamming condition through the performance comparison in shipborne and portable terminal consistent with frequency.

  • Jamming is an important factor in the military satellite communication system. In this paper, link capacity and jamming margin of the DS-CDMA(Direct Sequence-Code Division Multiple Access) military satellite communication system are analyzed and calculated under a multitone jamming. The analysis was performed with two types of transponders loaded on a geosynchronous satellite. Calculation methods for link capacity and jamming margin were obtained. The results of the analysis show that capacity of a transponder which does modulation/demodulation, decoding/encoding in addition to despreading/respeading is twice as much as that of a tranponder which does despreading /respreading only.

  • In this paper, a new technique and cost function which can be to classify jamming signal and target signal from the spectral distribution of received signal in order to minimize the main beam distortion of target signal and to form nulls in the direction of jamming signal in array antennas of single port system is proposed. The proposed cost function is applied to the adaptive algorithm which has the fast convergence and stable nulling performance through the combination of the PSO(Particle Swam Optimization) algorithm and the gradient-based perturbation algorithm, which shows stable nulling performance adaptively even under the moving jamming signal where the incident direction of the jamming signal is changing with time.

  • We analyze the jamming/deception performance of an active decoy against ground tracking radars on dynamic combat scenarios. Based on the movement and the interference flow of an airborne platform, the trajectories of the active decoy is accurately calculated by solving 6-degree of freedom equations of motion. On realistic combat scenarios, numerical simulations are examined to analyze the jamming performance of the decoy for various movements of the platform and RF specifications of the active decoy. Effective jamming/deception area against the ground tracking radars is estimated from the simulation.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of Follower Noise Jamming(FNJ) considering three practical tracking parameters such as tracking bandwidth, tracking time and tracking success probability. The performance of FNJ is compared with that of Partial-Band Noise Jamming(PBNJ) in terms of Symbol Error Rate(SER) at the communication receiver under the assumed typical operation model. It is observed that the performance of FNJ is non-linearly dependent on the tracking bandwidth, the tracking time and the tracking success probability. As we can easily expect, it is also observed that the performance of FNJ is better than that of the PBNJ. Finally, it is shown that, for a fixed tracking bandwidth, the combinations of the required tracking time and the tracking success probability which satisfy a certain required SER.

  • We propose an adaptive decoding scheme for a concatenated codes with frequency-hopped spread-spectrum communication system in the presence of a pulse-burst jammer and its performance is analyzed. Concatenated coding system employing binary inner code and Reed-Solomon outer code is investigated and the use of side information is allowed to decode both erasures and errors. Our scheme makes the decoder adapts to the level of jamming by switching between two decoding modes such that the overall block error probability can be reduced. It is shown that the proposed decoding scheme yields a significant performance improvement over a conventional decoding scheme.
