관객의 생체신호 분석을 통한 감성 변화 (Measurement of Emotional Transition Using Physiological Signals of Audiences)

  • 영상을 주의 깊게 시청하는 관객은 보이는 영상의 성격에 따라 여러 심적 변화를 경험한다. 기쁨, 슬픔, 놀람 등 관객이 느낄 수 있는 다양한 감정 상태는 심리학에서 많이 활용되는 제임스 러셀(James Russell)이 정의한 감정 원형모형을 통해 정리된다. 관객이 느낄 수 있는 감정들 중에서도 특히 지그문트 프로이트(Sigmund Freud)가 언급한 언캐니(uncanny)는 기존의 명료한 정서적 개념들의 틈새에 존재하는 첨예한 중간자로 대변된다. 언캐니 현상은 비윤리적으로 인식되는 영상을 시청하는 관객이 보편적으로 느끼는 불쾌한 부분이 쾌로 수용되는 상태, 즉 사회적 금기에 대해 긍정적인 상태이기 때문에 이는 사회윤리적인 해석과 더불어 명확한 수리적 분석이 후행될 때 비로소 첨예한 심리상태로서 분석 가치를 지닌다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 감정 원형모형과 언캐니 상태를 분석하고, 관객의 언캐니 상태에 관한 가설을 설립하여 ECG(Electronic Cardiogram)와 GSR(Galvanic Skin Response) 신호 측청과 같은 생체신호 실험을 수치화한 결과를 러셀의 감정 원형모형을 기반으로 분포, 거리, 시간 등을 분석하는 방향으로 진행된다.

Flow of a low concentration polyacrylamide fluid solution in a channel with a flat plate obstruction at the entry

  • Flow in a channel with an obstruction at the entry can be reverse, stagnant or forward depending on the position of the obstruction. These flow phenomena have potential applications in the control of energy and various flows in process engineering. Parameters that affect this flow inside and around the test channel are the gap (g) between the obstruction geometry and the test channel, the Reynolds number (Re) and the length (L) of the test channel. The influence of these parameters on the flow behavior was investigated using a flat plate obstruction at the entry of the channel. A low concentration polyacrylamide solution (0.018% by weight) showing a powerlaw fluid behavior was used as the fluid in this investigation. The flow phenomena were investigated by the velocity measurement and the flow visualization and their results were compared with numerical simulation. These results of low concentration polyacrylamide solution are also compared with the results of water published elsewhere (Kabir et al., 2003). The maximum reverse flow inside the test channel observed was 20% - 30% of the outside test channel velocity at a g/w (gap to width) ratio of 1 for Reynolds numbers of 1000 to 3500. The influence of the test channel length (L) and the Reynolds number (Re) on the velocity ratio ($V_i$/$V_o$: inside velocity/outside velocity in the test channel) are also presented and discussed here.

제임스 터렐의 작품에 나타난 기하학적 공간구성, 시지각적 역동성 그리고 존재론적 의미에 관한 연구 - '웨지워크', '스페이스 디비전', '스카이스페이스' 프로젝트를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Geometrical Space Composition, Dynamic Visual Perception and Questions of Existence found in the Works of James Turrell - Focusing on 'Wedgework', 'Space Division', 'Skyspace' Projects -)

  • Since 1966 when James Turrell completed his studies on Art, he has been working on the consistent theme of Art. For the 46 years of time, site contexts, scales, methods of light have been changed and they made Turrell's unique 'project series'. Each series has different spatial, visual-perceptual forms and characteristics from other series. The differences were caused by the given situations, but also Turrell intentionally pursued it. However, there are essential theme of art that has not changed in most of Turrell's projects. Target of this paper is to study the unchanged theme as well as the differences. The study starts with three questions: first, what is the geometrical space composition?, second, what is the visual-perceptual phenomenon?, third, what is the hidden consistent theme? This research focuses on three case projects: Wedgework, Space Division Constructions, Skyspaces. These project series are in between the early small object-like installations and the late mega-scale outdoor projects. The study found that geometrical space composition has important role to give visual-perceptual dynamism to the viewer. The phenomenological perception is connected to the questions of relationship between human and space, ultimately human and the world. Although the Merleau-Ponty's philosophy has been related to the work of Turrell in various previous studies, Cartesian 3-dimensional geometry has also crucial role to experiment a viewer's perceptual boundaries. Image of infinity is another aspect of three cases, especially Space Division Constructions and Skyspaces. Through these structure, Turrell's work lead to an ultimate question of meaning for human existence in infinite space. It is hoped that this paper is helpful for Architecture and Interior design field in which light and space are essential.
