A Study on the Management Criteria of Chemiclas Impurities for Drinking Water Treatment by Risk Assessment (건강위해성 평가에 의한 정수용 수처리제의 불순물 관리 기준 설정 방법에 관한 연구)

  • The principle and methodology of risk assessment was applied to establish the quality standard of potential impurities of drinking water treatment chemicals. The impurities(arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury, etc.) are regulated as the contained quantity of chemicals in Korea while they are regulated as the quality standard with the idea of 10% of the national safety drinking water standard in U.S.A(NSF) and Japan(JWWA). According to risk assessment of the current standard implemented in Korea, the excess cancer risk of arsenic and lead were determined in around $10^{-5}$ and the hazard quotient(HQ) of cadmium and chromium were below $10^{-2}$, respectively. And the standard concentration of the impurities are regulated as much as 2%~6% of the national drinking water quality standard. The values are more enforced rather than the standards in U.S.A(NSF) and Japan(JWWA) regulating the concentration of impurities the 10% of the national drinking water quality standard. We conclude that the impurities standard of drinking water treatment chemicals should be reconsidered comprehensively concerning the national safety drinking water quality standard and risk assessment.

  • The valve is used on control of flow in a ship. Flow coefficient of valve is very importance in the design of valve. In this paper, three-dimensional computer simulations by commercial code CFX were conducted to observe the valve type and to measure flow coefficient when valves with various angles and uniform incoming velocity were used in a piping system. By contrast, a group of experimental data is used to compare with the data obtained by CFX simulation to investigate the validity of numerical method.

  • 설비분야(設備分野)에서 어느 용도(用途)에 어떤 재질(材質)의 배관재(配管材)를 사용하는 것이 가장 효과적(效果的)인가 하는 것은 관계 기술자(技術者)들의 관심사항중 하나이다. 특히 상수도(上水道) 분야(分野)는 정부(政府)가 주도하는 관계로 특별한 경우가 아니면 외국(外國)의 사례(事例)를 조사(調査)할 기회가 거의 없다. 본고(本稿)는 일본수도협회(日本水道協會)(JWWA)가 상수도(上水道) 기술정보(技術情報) 교환사업(交換事業)의 일환으로 미국의 주요 도시(都市)와 유럽의 주요 국가(國家)를 대상으로 실시한 상수도(上水道) 배관재(配管材) 사용실태(使用實態) 조사결과(調査結果)를 조사(調査)팀에 참가(參加)했던 관계기관(關係機關)을 통하여 입수(入手)하여 정리한 것이다. 조사(調査) 대상(對象)이 된 국가(國家)는 미국(美國), 스웨덴, 네델란드, 서독(西獨) 및 프랑스이며, 관계기관(關係機關)으로는 각국의 수도협회(水道協會)와 이와 유사한 9개 단체(團體)이다.

  • SWG(Smart Water Grid)는 한정적인 수자원을 효율적으로 이용하고 사용자 입맛에 맞춰 물을 안정적으로 공급하고자 하는 양방향 개념으로 수자원 분야에서 각광받는 실정이다. SWG의 성능을 평가하는 연구사례는 많지 않으며 현재 국내의 경우 실증단지를 구축하고 있는 단계이다. 그러므로 성능평가를 수행하기 위한 실측자료가 부재하므로 성능평가 지표선정에 활용 할 수 있는 자료가 제한적이다. 따라서 미국의 Leed, 영국의 BREEAM, 일본의 CASBEE, 호주의 Green Star의 인증 기준에서 수자원에 대한 항목과 기존의 IWA, World Bank, AWWA, JWWA, OFWAT 같은 해외 상수도 수행능 지표와 상수도 및 정수장 기술진단에서 제시하는 기준을 바탕으로 성능평가지표를 선정 보완하여 Water Facility Index, Smart Index, Optimum System Index로 분류하여 각 세부의 성능평가지표를 선정하였다. 선정된 지표는 AHP기법를 활용하여 1-4단계에 걸쳐 계층화를 실시하고 Bottom-up방식으로 4단계에서부터 1단계로 평가를 진행하도록 구성했다. 4단계에서는 계층 별 쌍대비교 결과를 바탕으로 중요도에 따른 가중치를 부여하고 차등 점수를 적용하며, 이는 3단계에서 필수적으로 만족해야하는 지표들을 설정하고 평가하기 위해 사용된다. 3단계에서는 지표평가 후 "보통" 이상의 점수를 획득해야 2단계로 진행할 수 있고, 2단계에서는 3가지 큰 지표를 설정 후 총점 기준 60%이상의 최소득점 기준을 만족해야 1단계로 진행할 수 있도록 구성했다. 이러한 절차를 바탕으로 마지막 1단계에서는 100점을 만점으로 하는 6단계의 최종성능을 평가하는 결과를 제시할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 국외 성능평가 사례 중 SWG와 관련된 지표를 구성하여 성능평가를 수행할 수 있는 기법을 제안하였다. 향후 지속적인 연구 진행 결과와 실측자료를 수집하여 수정 및 보완이 수행될 예정이다.

Development of Carbonization Technology and Application of Unutilized Wood Wastes(II) - Carbonization and it's properties of wood-based materials - (미이용 목질폐잔재의 탄화 이용개발(II) - 수종의 목질재료 탄화와 탄화물의 특성 -)

  • Objective of research is obtain fundamental data of carbonized wood wastes for soil condition, de-ordorization, absorption of water, carrier for microbial activity, and purifying agent for water quality of river. The carbonization technique and the properties of carbonized wood wastes(wood-based materials) were analyzed. Proximate analysis showed the wood-based materials contains 0.37~2.27% ash, 70~74% volatile matter, and 17~20% fixed carbon. As carbonization temperature was increased, the charcoal yield was decreased. However, no difference in charcoal yield was found due to time increase. The specific gravity after the carbonization decreased about 30~40% comparing to green wood. The charcoal had 1.08~4.18% ash, 5.88~13.79% volatile matter, and 80.15~90.94% fixed carbon. The pH of plywood and particleboard(pH 9 at $400^{\circ}C$, pH 10 at $600^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$) made charcoals was higher than that of fiberboard. The water-retention capacity was not affected by the carbonization temperature and time. The water-retention capacity within 24h was about 2~2.5 times of sample weight, and the Equilibrium moisture content(EMC) became 2~10% after 24h. EMC of charcoal from the thinned trees were 9.40~11.82%($20^{\circ}C$, RH 90%), 6.87~7.61%($20^{\circ}C$, RH 65%), and 1.69~2.81%($20^{\circ}C$, RH 25%). EMC of charcoal from the wood-based materials under $20^{\circ}C$, relative humidity(RH) 90% was similar to EMC of charcoal from the thinned trees(9~11 %). However, under $20^{\circ}C$, RH 25.65%, EMC of charcoal from the wood-based materials were higher(2~3%) than EMC of charcoal from the thinned trees. Every charcoal from the wood-based materials fulfilled the criteria in JWWA K 113-1947.
