In order to obtain the basic data concerning the optimal lasing conditions in using Nd:YAG laser as an adjunctive modality of periodontal therapy of root planing without irreversible structural deterioration of cervical cementum, the author selected 36 human teeth having no cervical abrasion and caries (; 12 anteriors, 12 premolars. 12 molars) extracted due to periodontal diseases, and divided them into 4 groups as Group I, II, III and IV (; each group of 3 anteriors, 3 premolars, 3 molars), and prepared a cementum specimen with thickness of $1.0mm{\pm}0.2mm$ sectioned longitudinally at the middle of mesio-distal thickness (; Group I) or horizontally at 1mm-2mm below the cemento-enamel junction (; Group II, III, IV) from each tooth of each group by low speed diamond wheel saw, and treated them with 0.5 M ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (; EDTA, pH=7.4) for 2 minutes for elimination of remnants during tooth-sectioning. And the author applied the laser energy from a fiberoptic delivered, free running, pulsed Nd:YAG laser (; wavelength 1064nm. pulse duration $120{\mu}sec$, fiber diameter $320{{\mu}m}$) to cementum surfaces in triplicates of one experiment under the following lasing conditions: 1. stationary mode of fiber in contact to cementum surfaces without air-spray (; Group I )/with air-spray (; Group II), 2. unidirectional moving mode of fiber in contact to cementum surfaces under speed of 3mm-4mm/sec without air-spray (; Group III)/with air-spray (; Group IV), 3. energy per pulse (mJ/pulse) [; energy density ($J/cm^{2}$)] in order of 1.0W/10Hz (100J/pulse); $124J/cm^{2}$, 0.5W/10Hz (50mJ/pulse); $62J/cm^{2}$, 0.4W/10Hz (40mJ/pulse); $50J/cm^{2}$, 0.3W/10Hz (30mJ/pulse); $37J/cm^{2}$, 4. exposure time of 1 second. And the author applied the platinum coating on surfaces of cementum specimens, and evaluated the characteristics of ultrastructural change on surfaces of cementum using the scanning electron microscopy. In general the ultrastructural loss of cervical cementum irradiated under the same lasing condition of laser energy density occurred least in specimens of Group IV. And especially, the ultrastructural loss of cervical cementum irradiated under the laser energy density of $37J/cm^{2}$ almost did not occur in specimens of Group IV. Therefore, it is considered that the pulsed Nd:YAG laser should be applied with the lasing conditions of unidirectional moving mode of fiber in contact to cementum surfaces under speed of 3mm-4mm/sec with air-spray and of laser energy density within $37J/cm^{2}$ as an adjunctive modality of periodontal therapy of root planing without irreversible structural deterioration of cervical cementum.
Polyphenylvinylketone (PPVK) having a carbonyl group at the side chain was blended with polystyrene (PS) to investigate the effect of vinylketone polymers on the photodegradability of the blend as a function of U.V. irradiation time. Hydrogenated polyphenylvinylketone (PPVK(H)) which is made by hydrogenation of some of the carbonyl groups in PPVK was also blended with PS to check the role of carbonyl carbonyl group in the process of photodegradation. Photodegradability was also investigated for blends of PS with polymethylvinylketone (PMVK) and for copolymers of styrene and methylvinylketone (SMVK) to compare the effect of copolymerization versus blending on photodegradability. PPVK showed higher photodegradability than PPVK(H), which followed that the blends of PS with PPVK gave higher degradability than with PPVK(H). In view of the fact that PPVK(H) is a partially hydrogenated version of PPVK, carbonyl group was confirmed to be involved in the photodegradation mechanism. When polymethylvinylketone (PMVK) was blended with PS, this blend showed a higher degradability than PS/PPVK blend. Therefore the highest photodegradability was achieved when PS was blended with PMVK followed by PPVK and PPVK(H) in order. When SMVK was UV irradiated, it showed the highest photodegradability than any blends mentioned above. Therefore, copolymerization was proved to be the better means of photodegradation than blending.

Increasing clinical demand for carbon-11 labeled radiopharmaceuticals has triggered technological advances in fields of radiochemistry and automated modules. Even though carbon-11 has a short half-life ($t_{1/2}=20.4min$), the consecutive second production of carbon-11 labeled radiopharmaceutical in one $^{11}C$-synthetic module should be delayed at least over 4 h to avoid the high radiation exposure. We herein aimed to produce two different carbon-11 labeled radiopharmaceuticals ([$^{11}C$]PIB and [$^{11}C$]methionine) by sharing of [$^{11}C$]methylation source in one $^{11}C$-synthetic module. The synthesis of $^{11}C$-labeling reagents ($[^{11}C]CH_3I$ or $[^{11}C]CH_3OTf$) is fully automated using the commercial TRACERlab $FX_{C-pro}$ module and is readily adaptable to $^{11}C$-labeling reactor for [$^{11}C$]PIB as well as another $^{11}C$-labeling apparatus for [$^{11}C$]methionine via the three-way valve. After completing the [$^{11}C$]PIB production, the re-synthesized $[^{11}C]CH_3I$ was passed through the three-way valve connected the polyetheretherketone (PEEK) line and loaded into the C18 Sep-Pak cartridge including the methionine precursor. The labeled product [^${11}C$]methionine was purified by a simple cartridge separation and reformulated into saline. The radiochemical yield of [$^{11}C$]PIB and [$^{11}C$]methionine were $5.3{\pm}0.6%$ and $18.7{\pm}0.8%$ (n.d.c.), respectively, with over 97% of radiochemical purity. The specific activity of [$^{11}C$]PIB was over $110GBq/{\mu}mol$. Total production time of two radiopharmaceuticals needs about 2 h from $1^{st}$ beam irradiation including quality control tests. Final [$^{11}C$]PIB and [$^{11}C$]methionine were satisfied all quality control test standards.

Hydrophobic/hydrophilic patterned substrates were fabricated on a glass substrate by a liquid phase deposition (LPD) method. Hydrophobic surface was obtained by modifying ZnO thin films with a rough surface using a fluoroalkyltrimethoxysilane (FAS) and hydrophilic surface was prepared by decomposing FAS on an exposed to UV light. The hexagonal ZnO rods were perpendicularly grown by LPD method on glass substrates with a ZnO seed layer. The diameter and thickness of hexagonal ZnO rods were increased as a function of increases of immersion time. The surface morphology, thickness, crystal structure, transmittance and contact angle of prepared ZnO thin films were measured by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-visible spectrophotometer (UV-vis) and contact angle measurement. Hydrophilic ZnO thin films with a contact angle of $20^{\circ}{\sim}30^{\circ}$ were changed to a hydrophobic surface with a contact angle of $145^{\circ}{\sim}161^{\circ}$ by a FAS surface treatment. Prepared hydrophobic surface was pattered by an irradiation of UV light using shadow mask with $300\;{\mu}m$ or 3 mm dot size. Finally, the hydrophobic surface exposed to UV light was changed to a hydrophilic surface.

Reclaimed lands, expected as high-tech export horticultural complex, have unusual light environments due to sea fog. For adequate greenhouse design at reclaimed land, spatial light distributions in greenhouse should be required considering diffusive and direct lights. The objectives of this study were to analyze light environments and estimate spatial light distributions in greenhouse at reclaimed land by 3D greenhouse models. Total and diffusive lights were compared between reclaimed land and inland. For verification of the 3D greenhouse models, spatial light distributions and measured light intensities in greenhouse were compared with the estimated ones. Light environments at reclaimed land showed a higher diffusive irradiation than at inland, especially near sunrise and sunset. The estimated spatial light distributions in greenhouse showed good agreements with the measured ones. By using this method, we could estimate the average light intensity with time and spatial light distributions in greenhouse at specific outside light conditions. This result will be useful for analysis of light environments but also estimation of crop light inception in greenhouse at reclaimed land.
The goal of a radiation treatment plan is to deliver a homogeneous dose to a target with minimal irradiation of the adjacent normal tissues. Dose uniformity is especially important for stereotactic radiosurgery using a linear accelerator. The dose uniformity and high dose delivery of a single spherical dose distribution exceed 70%. This also results with a similar stereotactic radiosurgical plan using a Gamma Knife. The dose distribution produced in a stereotactic radiosurgical plan using a Gamma Knife and Linear accelerator is spherical, and the application of the sphere packing arrangement in a real radiosurgical plan requires much time and skill. In this study, we found a characteristic of dose distribution with transformation of beam parameters that must be considered in a radiosurgical plan for effective radiosurgery. First, we assumed a cylinder type tumor model and a cube type tumor model. Secondly, the results of the tumor models were compared and analyzed with dose profiles and DVH_(Dose Volume Histogram) representative dose distribution. We found the optimal composition of beam parameters_(i.e. collimator size, number of isocenter, gap of isocenters etc.), which allowed the tumor models to be involved in the isodose curve at a high level. In conclusion, the characteristics found in this study are helpful for improving the effectiveness and speed of a radiosurgical plan for stereotactic radiosurgery.
Total Skin Electron Beam Therapy (TSEBT) of linear accelerator has become use so as to be useful, 2~9 MeV of energy territories came to be used with mycosis fungoides and cutaneous lymphomas in the superficial lesion treatment which covers the major portion of the body. I treat a patient to Stanford technique in this study, and it is $60^{\circ}$ around the patients whom Stanford technique irradiated electronic beam to a linear accelerator in horizontal directions and there is a way a standard of TSEBT treat it to six located field (anterior, posterior, and four obliques) becoming. An each field does horizontally it and consist to beam of the two component which fitted the center to a suitable angle. a patient treats it to three dual field a day in order to make short treatment time. when a first day, we treat one dual field at anterior position and two dual field at posterior position. when the second day, treat one dual field at posterior position and two dual field at anterior position. Therefore, six dual field is finished in perfect periodic two days. we made cylindrical acrylic phantom, and I inserted a dosimeter film between phantom. in order to measure a dose distribution calculation before treat a patient, and a patient checked it in six field directions that got from a treatment. It is after that thermoluminescent dosimetry (TLD) as it uses Rando phantom and then measurement dose distribution in six field directions after attaching at chest, the right and left flank, a back after irradiation.
Delayed luminescence from human hands after illumination by light at different wavelength bands was studied. A delayed luminescence measurement system equipped with photomultiplier tube (PMT), fiber optics and automatic mechanical shutter system was developed. Three spectrum band-pass filters, fer which transmissions are on 350${\~}$450 nm, 450${\~}$550 nm and 550${\~}$650 nm, were used to select irradiation wavelength, and 150W metal-halide lamp was used as an illumination source. Six volunteers put their palms (dorsa) onto the measurement system, and after light illumination, delayed luminescence were measured for 10 minutes. The results show that delayed luminescence after shorter wavelength illumination was higher than that a(ter longer wavelength one. These results indicate the existence of accepters in human skin which can be excited at short wavelengths. Furthermore, each subjects showed different delayed luminescence curve patterns. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are known to have important roles on delayed luminescence, and this research suggests that ROS concentration can be measured noninvasively with optical methods.
This study was conducted to establish the optimum LED light source and quality for growth of Wasabia japonica seedlings in the LED chamber plant factory system. The light treatments were combined with four colors LED (red, blue, white, far-red), irradiation time ratio of the red and blue LED per minute(1:1, 2:1, 5:1, 10:1), and duty ratio of mixed light (100%, 99%, 97%). The growth response of W. japonica was the greatest in the R + B mixed light treatment, and seedlings grown in the red LED alone was higher than blue LED alone in the monochromic radiation treatments. In the R + B mixed LED, 1:1 ratio of R and B was the best for total biomass and tiller production. In mixed light treatments, the growth response of W. japonica was highest in the 100% duty ratio with R + B mixed light, while that was highest in the 97% duty ratio with R + B + W mixed light. Leaf area and dry weight were increased in the red light treatment alone, while specific leaf area was increased in the blue light alone. With the increasing red LED light ratio, leaf area and dry weight of W. japonica was significantly increased under the R + B mixed light treatment. In mixed light treatments, the leaf growth responses of W. japonica was highest in the 97% duty ratio with R+B mixed light, while that was highest in the 100% duty ratio with R + B + W mixed light. For cultivating W. japonica in a plant factory, treating red LED supplemented with a blue light or higher ratio of the red to blue LED was benefit to promote the growth of W. japonica.
This study was intended to identify the effectiveness of Lithospermum erythrorhizon in the UVB-irradiated mouse skin. The C57BL mice were divided into three groups; the control group, the UVB irradiated group(UVB group), and the group treated with Lithospermum erythrorhizon extracts after UVB irradiation(UVB+Le group). 10 mouses were collected and sacrificed at 24 hrs, 48 hrs, 72 hrs, 120 hrs, and 168 hrs, respectively. In the result, the transepidermal water loss (TEWL) was decreased the UVB+Le group than UVB groups by time. At the 168 hrs group was significantly lower(p<0.05). In the result, the melanin value was decreased in the UVB+Le group than UVB group, but meaningless(p>0.05). In the result of erythema index, the UVB+Le group was meaningfully lower at 24 hrs, 48 hrs, and 72 hrs group than UVB group(p<0.05). In the result of scanning electron micrograph observation, the UVB+Le group was allevited swelling than UVB group at the 24 hrs, formation of the scab at the 48 hrs, regular plate shap at the 72 hrs, new keratin observated at the 120 hrs partially, and fine fiber covered epidermis surface at the 168 hrs. In the result of transmission electron micrograph observation, the UVB+Le group was facilitation of increased lamellar bodies and reformation lamellar bodies than UVB group at the all groups. Almost all the structures were recovered at the 160 hrs group. In conclusion, Lithospermum erythrorhizon extracts may recovery on the UVB-irradiated mouse skin.
