  • The solid state cesium ion beam sputter deposition system has been developed for negative carbon ion beam deposition. The negative carbon ion beams are effectively produced by cesium ion bombardment. The C-ion beam current and deposition energy can be independently controlled for the deposition of a-D films. This system is very compact, reliable and high flux without any gas discharge or plasma and has been successfully used in the studies of the ion beam deposited amorphous diamond(a-D)

Numerical analysis of the electromagnetic force for design optimization of a rectangular direct current electromagnetic pump

  • The force of a direct current (DC) electromagnetic pump used to transport liquid lithium was analyzed to optimize its geometrical and electrical parameters by numerical simulation. In a heavy-ion accelerator, which is being developed in Korea, a liquid lithium film is utilized for its high charge-stripping efficiency for heavy ions of uranium. A DC electromagnetic pump with a flow rate of $6cm^3/s$ and a developed pressure of 1.5 MPa at a temperature of $200^{\circ}C$ was required to circulate the liquid lithium to form liquid lithium films. The current and magnetic flux densities in the flow gap, where a $Sm_2Co_{17}$ permanent magnet was used to generate a magnetic field, were analyzed for the electromagnetic force distribution generated in the pump. The pressure developed by the Lorentz force on the electromagnetic force was calculated by considering the electromotive force and hydraulic pressure drop in the narrow flow channel. The opposite force at the end part due to the magnetic flux density in the opposite direction depended on the pump geometrical parameters such as the pump duct length and width that defines the rectangular channels in the nonhomogeneous distributions of the current and magnetic fields.

  • 천연 베릴을 이용하여 $V_20_5$, $Mo0_3$, $Li_2O$계 융제 및 첨가제 조성, 베렬의 용해도 그 리고 결정성장 온도와 같은 결정성창 조건을 제어하여 에메랄드 단결정을 성장시켰다. Flux와 첨가제를 조정하여 저온($1100^{\circ}C$ 이하)에셔 용해성이 높은 과포화 용융체를 만들고 온도 구배 (${\Delta}t 100^{\circ}C$), 열진동 효과 등을 정멀 제어 조정하므로써 고품질의 대형 emerald 단결정을 성장 시킬 수 있었다. 성장된 에메랄드 단결정의 특성은 굴절률 : 1.56 - 1.57, 비중 : 2.65 - 2.67인 6각 주상($c^*m$ : 1000, 1010)의 취록색 투명 단결정이였다.

Effect of Alternating Magnetic Field on Ion Activation in Low Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon Technology

  • Statistical design of experiments was successfully employed to investigate the effect of alternating magnetic field on activation of polycrystalline Si (p-Si) doped as n-type using $\textrm{PH}_3$, by full factorial design of three factors with two levels. In this design, the input variables are graphite size, alternating current, and activation time. The output parameter, sheet resistance, is analyzed in terms of the primary effects and multi-factor interactions. Notably, the three-factor interaction is calculated to be a dominant interaction. The interaction between graphite size and activation time and the main effect of current are important effects compared to the other variables and relevant interactions. Alternating magnetic flux activation is proved a significantly beneficial processing technique.

Estimation of the neutron production of KSTAR based on empirical scaling law of the fast ion stored energy and ion density under NBI power and machine size upgrade

  • Deuterium-tritium reaction is the most promising one in term of the highest nuclear fusion cross-section for the reactor. So it is one of urgent issues to develop materials and components that are simultaneously resistant to high heat flux and high energy neutron flux in realization of the fusion energy. 2.45 MeV neutron production was reported in D-D reaction in KSTAR and regarded as beam-target is the dominant process. The feasibility study of KSTAR to wide area neutron source facility is done in term of D-D and D-T reactions from the empirical scaling law from the mixed fast and thermal stored energy and its projection to cases of heating power upgrade and DT reaction is done.

이온 교환된 NaA형 제올라이트 분리막의 투과증발 특성 (Pervaporation Characteristics of Ion-exchanged NaA Type Zeolite Membranes)

  • 제올라이트 분리막 제조 시 제올라이트 골격 내에 존재하는 $Na^{+}$ 양이온을 $K^{+}$ 이온과 $Ca^{2+}$ 이온으로 교환하여 보다 효율적인 물/에탄올 혼합물로부터 물의 분리를 도모하고자 하였다. NaA형 제올라이트 분리막을 각각의 0.5 M KCI $CaCl_2$, $80^{\circ}C$ 수용액에서 4시간 동안 이온교환 하였다. $Na^{+}$ 이온을 $K^{+}$ 이온으로 교환한 결과, 이온 교환 전 총 투과플럭스는 $900\;g/m^2{\cdot}hr{\sim}2,500\;g/m^2{\cdot}hr$이었으나 이온 교환 후 $600\;g/m^2{\cdot}hr{\sim}2,000\;g/m^2{\cdot}hr$ 정도로 낮아졌으며, 이온 교환 전 $600{\sim}2,200$의 선택도를 나타내던 분리막의 선택도가 이온 교환 후에 $850{\sim}2,500$까지 높아짐을 확인하였다 또한, $Na^{+}$ 이온을 $Ca^{2+}$ 이온으로 교환한 결과, 제올라이트 분리막의 전체 투과플럭스와 선택도 모두 이온 교환 전 후 유사한 결과 값이 나타남을 확인하였다. 따라서 친수성 제올라이트 분리막의 유효세공경을 제어하고 적절한 크기로 조절하여 유기물/물 혼합물 분리에 활용한다면 보다 효과적인 유기물의 선택적 분리가 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

유도용액으로 혼합비료를 사용한 정삼투식 해수담수화에서 혼합비료의 성능평가 (The Performance Evaluation of Blended Fertilizers as Draw Solution in Forward Osmosis Desalination)

  • 본 연구는 비료를 이용한 정삼투식 해수담수화에서 가장 적합한 유도용액을 찾기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위하여 삼투압, 용해도 및 pH를 고려하여 20종의 혼합 비료를 선정하고, 수투과선속과 질소, 인 및 칼륨의 역용질선속과 비역용질선속을 측정하여 각 혼합비료 유도용액의 성능을 평가하였다. KCl을 함유한 혼합비료의 수투과선속이 다른 혼합비료에 비해 높게 나타났다. ${NO_3}^-$를 함유한 혼합비료 유도용액의 질소 역용질선속과 비역용질선속은 ${NO_3}^-$를 함유하지 않은 혼합비료 용액에 비해 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 또한 $NH_4H_2PO_4$$KNO_3$를 각각 함유한 혼합비료 유도용액의 인 및 칼륨에 대한 역용질선속과 비역용질선속은 $NH_4H_2PO_4$$KNO_3$를 함유하지 않은 혼합비료 용액에 비해 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$와 KCl의 혼합비료 유도용액은 비료의 필수성분인 질소, 인 및 칼륨을 모두 포함하고 있고, 수투과선속이 클 뿐만 아니라 질소, 인 및 칼륨에 대한 역용질선속이 작아 정삼투식 해수담수화용 유도용액의 유도물질로서 가장 적합하다고 판단된다.

$MgB_2$ 결정립 나노브릿지 특성에 관한 연구 (Properties of $MgB_2$ Intragrain Nanobridges)

  • Inter-grain nanobridges of the $MgB_2$ superconductor have been fabricated by focused-ion-beam(FIB) and their electrical transport properties were studied. The $MgB_2$ film was prepatterned into microbridges by a standard argon ion milling technique and then FIB-patterned into 100 nm$\times$100 nm bridges. Current-voltage characteristics showed a strong flux-flow type behavior at all temperatures with a trait of Josephson coupling near $T_c$. At low temperatures, the curves showed a two-step resistance-doubled transition with occasional hysteresis. The resistance-doubling transition is believed to be due to a two-channel flux-flow effect. The temperature-dependent critical current data showed $I_c(T){\propto}(1-T/T_c)^2$ near $T_c$, same as a normal barrier junction, and $I_c(T){\propto}(1-T/T_c)^{1.2}$ at low temperatures, similar to that of a film.

Ion Flux Assisted PECVD of SiON Films Using Plasma Parameters and Their Characterization of High Rate Deposition and Barrier Properties

  • Silicon oxynitride (SiON) was deposited for gas barrier film on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) using octamethylycyclodisiloxane (Si4O4C8H24, OMCTS) precursor by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) at low temperature. The ion flux and substrate temperature were measured by oscilloscope and thermometer. The chemical bonding structure and barrier property of films were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), respectively. The deposition rate of films increases with RF bias and nitrogen dilution due to increase of dissociated precursor and nitrogen ion incident to the substrate. In addition, we confirmed that the increase of nitrogen dilution and RF bias reduced WVTR of films. Because, on the basis of FT-IR analysis, the increase of the nitrogen gas flow rate and RF bias caused the increase of the C=N stretching vibration resulting in the decrease of macro and nano defects.

Vanadate가 심근막을 통한 $Ca^{++}$의 유입 및 유출에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Vanadate on the Calcium Flux of Cardiac Muscle)

  • Since it was proposed that vanadate may be an ‘ideal endogenous regulator of the $Na^+,\;K^+-ATPase$ activity (Cantley et at, 1979), vanadate has been a subject of intensive research and a variety of its physiological effects have been described (Nechay, 1984). In isolated guinea pig heart muscle vanadate shows a positive inotropic effect on ventricular muscle, while it induces a negative inotropic effect on atrial muscle. But its underlying mechanism has not been elucidated so far. Therefore, in this study the flux rates of calcium ion into and from guinea pig heart muscle were measured to throw some light on the underlying mechanism, because those rates have been known to be closely related to the cardiac contractility and the results are summarized as follows: 1) Calcium efflux rates from the intracellular $Ca^{++}$ pool (compartment 4) of both guinea pig left atrium and right ventricle were significantly reduced by vanadate and their pool sizes were significantly increased by vanadate. 2) The magnitude of calcium influx into left atrium was reduced by vanadate, While the magnitude of calcium influx into right ventricle was not affected by vanadate. From these results, it may be concluded that the positive inotropic effect of vanadate on the ventricular muscle was due to a reduced efflux rate of calcium ion and its negative inotropic effect on atrial muscle was resulted from a reduced influx of calcium ion.
