This paper proposes a study measuring productivity improvement by using a type of technology called "Machine Guidance" through work sampling in earthwork. Earthwork is the activity typically on the critical path, indicating that productivity for the activity is critical for managing schedule on time. Thanks to the development of sensing and information system technologies, productivity for earthwork has been improved. While there have been many studies investigating the application of a certain type of technology to earthwork, few studies have measured the productivity improvement and presented how the technology leads to productivity improvement. Based on the thorough literature review, it is hypothesized that Machine Guidance contributes to improving productivity of earthwork by reducing indirect workhours spent for information waiting and inspection. In addition to the literature review, this paper presents a research model to test the hypothesis by using the work sampling technique. By proving and quantifying the productivity improvement from the technology use, this study can help practitioners justify the investment for technology use, which will contribute to the deployment of technology and more effective execution of earthwork.

Cloud computing services has gained increasing popularity in recent years for supporting various on demand and scalable services for IT consumers where there is a need of less investment towards infrastructure. While storage architecture of cloud enjoys a more robust and fault-tolerant cloud computing network, such architecture also poses a number of security challenges especially when applied in applications related to social networks, Financial transactions, etc. First, as data are stored and maintained by individual virtual machines so Cloud resources are prone to hijacked. Such attacks allow attackers to create, modify and delete machine images, and change administrative passwords and settings successfully. hence, it is significantly harder to ensure data security. Second, Due to dynamic and shared nature of the Cloud, data may be compromised in many ways. Last but not least, Service hijacking may lead to redirect client to an illegitimate website. User accounts and service instances could in turn make a new base for attackers. To address the above challenges, we propose in this paper a distributed data access control scheme that is able to fulfil fine-grained access control over cloud data and is resilient against strong attacks such as compromise and user colluding. The proposed framework exploits a novel cryptographic primitive called attribute-based encryption (ABE), tailors, and adapts it for cloud computing with respect to security requirements
This study was carried out to the actual conditions and improvement of the eco-forests master plan in South Korea, and suggested its problems and improvement direction. Results from survey and analysis of limiting factors or constraints in the construction plans of eco-forests in Korea revealed that there were highly frequent problems involving site feasibility, topographic aspect, and existing vegetation. The results of survey on the status of land use indicated that the average ratio of the use of private estate was 29.7%, so then it was estimated that a great amount of investment in purchase of eco-forest site would be required. Results from survey on major introduced facilities showed that there was high frequency of introduction of infrastructure, building facility, recreational facility, convenience facility, and information facility, and that there was low frequency of introduction of plant culture system, ecological facility, structural symbol and sculpture, and the likes. There was just one eco-forest park where more than 500 species of plants grew, and the result of investigation indicated that the diversity of plant species in 11 eco-forest parks was lower than the standards for construction of eco-forest. Results from analysis of the projects costs revealed that investment cost in facilities was higher than planting costs, and that a large amount of investment was made in the initial stage of the project. There was no planned budget for the purpose of cultivating and maintaining the plants and vegetation after construction of eco-forest. The basic concepts in construction of eco-forests were established according to the guidelines presented by the Korea Forest Service; however, the detailed work of the project was planned with its user-oriented approach. Then the construction of eco-forest was being planned following the directions, which would lead to development of a plant garden similar to arboretum or botanical garden. Therefore, it is required that the architect who designs eco-forest as well as the public officer concerned firmly establish the concepts of eco-forest, and that, through close analysis of development conditions, a candidate site to fit the purpose of constructing eco-forest be selected, and also a substantive management plan be established upon completion of construction of eco-forest.
The purpose of this study is to assess the sustainability in 45 cities of all over Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk using weights and assessment system developed in leading research. The materials of assessment used statistical data and spatial data were standardized for the systematic result. The assessment score was established using the normal distribution from 25 to 125 for removal of the very smallest and maximum value. According to the results, Tongyeong was assessed the highest by 82.5 score in environmental sustainability index. In economical sustainability index, Pohang, Gumi, Changwon, Yangsan were more than 79 score but Busan, Daegu, Andong were less than 70 score. Ulsan, Geoje, Yangsan were assessed higher in society-institutional sustainability index and Jinju, Munkyeong, Changnyeong were showed higher than other cities by more 79 score in quality of life(QOL)'s sustainability index. In case of integrated sustainability index, Jinju that was the highest sustainability in QOL was assessed by first city. However, Ulsan was assessed the lowest city among others. Therefore cities which have high sustainability will prepare a politic investment program for maintaining current conditions. Cities which have low sustainability will grasp closely the environmental characteristics of urban and present the improvement direction through monitoring continuously. Overall, these results can be used as tools to assess the current cities and predict the future one. It is also necessary to establish a systematic urban planning for livable and sustainable city.
This paper introduces emergy(spelled with "m") that is a new environmental indicator in architecture, aiming to clarify conflicting claims of building design components in the process of energy-retrofit. Much of design practitioners' attention on low energy use in operational phases, may simply shift the lowered environmental impact within the building boundary to large consumption of energy in another area. Specifically, building energy reduction strategies without a holistic view starting from natural formation, may lead to the depletion of non-renewable geobiological sources (e.g. minerals, fossil fuels, etc.), which leaves a building with an isolated energy-efficient object. Therefore, to overcome the narrow outlook, this research discusses the total ecological impact of a building which embraces all process energy as well as environmental cost represented by emergy. A case study has been conducted to explore emergy-driven design work. In comparison with operational energy-driven scenarios, the results elucidate how energy and emergy-oriented decision-making bring about different design results, and quantify building components' emergy contribution in the end. An average-size ($101.9m^2$) single family house located in South Korea was sampled as a benchmark case, and the analysis of energy and material use was conducted for establishment of the baseline. Adoption of the small building is effective for the goal of study since this research intends to measure environmental impact according to variation of passive design elements (windows size, building orientation, wall materials) with new metric (emergy) regardless of mechanical systems. Performance simulations of operational energy were developed and analyzed separately from the calculation of emergy magnitudes in building construction, and then the total emergy demand of each proposed design was evaluated. Emergy synthesis results verify that the least operational energy scenario requires greater investment in indirect energy in construction, which clearly reveals that efficiency gains are likely to be overwhelmed by increment of material flows. This result places importance on consideration of indirect energy use underscoring necessity of emergy evaluation towards the environment-friendly building in broader sense.
The purpose of this study is to make practical application of the results as basic data of National Park management-policy by surveying and analyzing management goals, management missions, land zoning, numeral of visitors, management organization, management staff and revenue and Expenditure budget of 1992 and 2004 those are main factors to know the management system well. The main management missions was found not only to put value on developing nature program but also to prepare for keeping and renewing of nature resources. The change of zoning land was researched to be controlled and nature preservation area was showed to be enlarged. While management missions and visitors have been increased, there weren't raise of organization and staffs at all. And expenditure budget had management formation by manpower. Although there are progressive changes in park management system during the period, several improvements are needed in details. They are as follows; To be sustainable preservation and usage which are the intrinsic roles of National Park by increasing the government investment than own revenue.

Like most OECD countries, Korea is experiencing a decline in population and demographic changes, deterioration of public facilities, and limited investment in public facilities maintenance due to low economic growth and increased welfare budgets. In this case, not only the inconvenience of using the public facilities can lead to the occurrence of an accident due to the damage of the facilities. However, as the importance of the management of public facilities has not been recognized yet, new policies are being promoted. Korea is expected to reduce the total population since the late 2020s, and there will be a large difference in population reduction between the cities, towns, and towns within the same administrative districts. Therefore, it is necessary to change the management policy regarding the change in demand of public facilities due to population change such as population decrease and aging. Accordingly, this study analyzes the management policies and actual conditions of public facilities in Korea, and suggests the implications for public facilities management by analyzing Japan's public facilities management policies that faced population change and deterioration of public facilities before Korea. The key change in Japan's public facilities management policy is the transition from new to maintenance, which has managed public facilities in terms of existing safety management and asset management.
Since some decades ago, there has been a concern for resource depletion and environmental pollution associated with building properties. In addressing such impact of the built environment, there is a recognition of the existence of alternative building materials, fuels for energy supply as well as technologies for waste handling and disposal. Nevertheless, for long time, the choice between such alternatives was dictated by factors such as differences in prices and aesthetic values. A new important dimension in discriminating between different options is the environmental dimension. This aspect is important since buildings are one of the spatially big new additions to the natural environment that consume a lot of materials and energy during their long lifetime. Thus, with the environmental dimension kept in mind, a existing cost estimation needs to be changed. A new cost assessment method, Life Cycle Cost, should calculate overall costs with dimensional factors: investment and utility costs as well as maintenance costs over the lifetime of the building. Aiming to give an overview of the present status of Building Life Cycle Assessment(LCA) tools as a basis for further research and development including economic performance, this paper describes and compares 3 different tools for Life Cycle Assessment(LCA) and economic analysis of the green buildings. This paper compared these approaches based on various aspects. These include economic analysis method, evaluation duration, data of results(index). Use of the comparison analysis is to produce a better picture and indicate profits and shortcomings for the tools as a group; thus providing important direction improvement of LCA tool as well as further research and development of this group of tools.

Recently, a logistics between south and north Korea is rising rapidly by increasing of economical exchange between two Korea and growth of Gaeseoung Industrial Complex. Considering this trend of economic cooperation between two Korea, in addition to a land transportation route it is necessary to secure various logistics and transportation route. A barge transport system which has merits such as a little initial investment and convenience of harbor loading/unloading has been also used to transport freight widely in the EU and USA. In this paper, firstly, a social and economical feasibility study is performed about a shipping route which is using barge transportation system between Incheon and Gaesung. And also we propose several candidate shipping route and investigate a technical feasibility on a realistic possibility of shipping service by some investigation activities. Finally, the optimized shipping route and barge transportation system are proposed in this paper.

And also we investigate a technical feasibility on a realistic possibility of shipping routes by some investigation activities. Finally, a suitable barge system of candidate shipping route(1) and(2) is proposed in this paper.
