In-situ Synthesis of Polyamide-6/POSS Nanocomposites

  • In-situ ring opening polymerization of ${\varepsilon}-caprolactum$ was carried out in the presence of aminoethylaminopropylisobutyl POSS and stoichiometric amount of adipic acid. The covalent bond formation of POSS on the polyamide was confirmed by the appearance of FT-IR peak at $1123\;cm^{-1}$ that corresponds to the Si-O stretching of POSS structures. Gradual decrease in melting endotherm peak was observed on loading POSS in PA6/POSS nanocomposites. Sharp increase in intrinsic viscosity was observed upto 2.5 wt % loading POSS in the polyamide 6 nanocomposites. These nanocomposites were further characterized using nuclear magnetic resonance, melt viscosity and X-ray diffraction.

  • According as gradually increasing the demand for eco-friendly at the printing process, it has been progressed fairly development. Especially, the inks are used by soy oil beginning of ink industry for preventing environment, it is possible to make eco-friendly inks with vegetable ester. So it is not necessary to use petroleum-based solvents at all for preventing environment. These eco-friendly inks have a benefits they are able to use the renewable resource. But basically vegetable oils have that reduce the VOC(Volatile Organic Compound) and high viscosity, high solubility properties. So if the vegetable oils use in the ink, set off problem occur on the paper because of slow drying time. In case of vegetable ester, it has similar the molecular weight and kinetic viscosity with hydrocarbon solvent, it is able to control the power of dilution about the resin. So, it has benefit that solve the problem of the existing eco-friendly inks. In this study, different types of ester were made by six types of vegetable oils and used ester in the varnishes and inks properties are comparison with hydrocarbon solvent based ink. By considering the intrinsic properties of vegetable oil, ester used to analyze the changes in ink properties, using ester varnish is applied to study the rheology characteristics and emulsification with inks.

Spinnability and Rheological Properties of Sols Derived from Si(OC2H5)4 and Zr(O-nC3H7)4 Solutions

  • The shape of the polymers in the mixed alkoxide solutions of Si(OC2H5)4 and Zr(n-OC3H7)4 with various water contents (1, 2, 4, and 8 in molar ratio to alkoxide, r) and catalysts was examined by rheological measurements, and its relation with fiber drawing behavior of the solutions was described. It was found that fibers could be drawn in the viscosity range 1~100 P from the acid-catalyzed solutions with lower water contents of the molar ratio H2O/alkoxide, $r{\leq}2$. On the other hand, no fiber could be drawn from the acid-catalyzed solutions including a large amount of water($r{\geq}4$) and the base-catalyzed solutions. The relation between the intrinsic viscosity [${\eta}$] and number average molecular weight ${\bar{M}}n$, namely $[{\eta}]=K{\bar{M}}n{\alpha}$, has shown that the acid-catalyzed spinnable solution (r = 1 and 2) had linear polymers where the exponent a's were about 0.56 and 0.81, whereas non-spinnable solutions (r = 4 and 8) had three dimensional network polymers or spherical particles where the exponent a's were 0.41-0.51 and 0.35.

Characterization and Functional Properties of an Oat Gum Extracted from a Drought Harvested Oat (Avena sativa)

  • An oat gum was extracted from whole seeds of a drought harvested oat (Avena sativa). Oat gum presented a ${\beta}-glucan$ content of 65%(w/w) and an intrinsic viscosity of 141 mL/g. Gelling capability of oat gum at different concentrations was investigated. Gel hardness increased from 0.08 to 0.25 N as the oat gum concentration changed from 5 to 10%(w/v). Whippability, foam stability, emulsion stability, and reduced viscosity of oat gum at different pH were also investigated. Oat gum whippability was maximum at pH 7 (146%), while the higher foam and emulsion stability values were found at pH 9 (88 and 96%, respectively). The gum reduced viscosity increased from 715 to 958 mL/g as the pH changed from 7 to 9. Oat gum shows great potential as a gel forming, thickening, and stabilizing agent.

고점도 다당류생산 미생물의 분리 및 특성 (A Yellow Pigmented Soil Bacterium Producing a Polysaccharide of High Viscosity)

  • 산업용 다당류의 개발을 목적으로 고점도의 다당류생산 미생물을 토양으로부터 분리하였다. 본 세균은 동정한 결과 Pseudomonas mendocina로 생각되었다. 본 세균이 생산하는 다당류는 o-acetyl기를 함유한 ${\beta}-glucan$으로 추정되며 구성당으로서는 포도당과 람노오스가 몰비로 2.2 : 1.0 구성으로 되어 있고 수용액은 의가소성 유체이다. 1% 용액은 428mPa.s의 점도를 나타내며 항복치는 8.89Pa이다. 이 용액은 열안정성은 없으며 pH 안정성과 염안정성은 있었다. 유동활성화에너지는 6.57 Kcal 이다.

밭벼 찹쌀의 겨층 구조와 전분의 호화 성질 (Bran structure and gelatinization properties of upland waxy rice starch)

  • Bran structure and gelatinization property of upland and lowland japonica waxy brown rice were compared. Dimension, weight and number of aleurone layer were similar between upland(Nonglimna 1) and lowland(Shinsunchalbyeo) rices, but the aleurone layer and pericarp of upland rice were thicker. Water uptake rate of upland rice at $60^{\circ}C$ was lower than that of lowland one. There was no difference in intrinsic viscosity between two rice starches. Upland rice starch had lower onset temperature, narrower gelatinization temperature and lower water content lot gelatinization compared with lowland rice starch.

  • At intermediate mass transfer rates, accretion disks in binary star systems undergo a thermally-driven limit cycle instability. This instability leads to outburst episodes when the disk is bright and the flow through the disk is rapid separated by long intervals when the disk is dim and the flow through it is low. This intrinsic outburst mechanism can help to understand a wide range of astrophysical phenomena from dwarf novae to soft X -ray transients involving white dwarf, neutron star, and black holes. and to a deeper understanding of the mechanism of angular transport and viscosity in the accretion disk.

고검화도의 폴리(비닐 알코올)/디메틸설폭사이드 용액에서의 점성도 특성과 탐침입자의 확산 (Probe Diffusion and Viscosity Properties in Dimethyl Sulfoxide Solution of Poly(vinyl alcohol) with High Degree of Hydrolysis)

  • 고검화도(98%이상)의 폴리(비닐 알코올)(PVA)를 디메틸설폭사이드(DMSO) 용매에 녹인 뒤 PVA 준희박 용액 대에서 농도 $C{\simeq}0.14\;g/mL$까지 점성도를 측정하였으며, 이 시스템을 매트릭스로 하여 폴리스티렌(PS) 라텍스 입자의 확산운동 지연을 동적 광산란법으로 조사하였다. PVA/DMSO계의 점성도를 고유점성도 $[{\eta}]$로 스케일된 환산농도 $C[{\eta}]$에 대하여 도시하였을 때 C$[{\eta}]$ >2에서는 분자량 의존성이 강하게 나타났으며, 그 원인은 PVA 용액 내에 존재하는 불균일 영역때문인 것으로 추정하였다. 그러나 매트릭스 내에서 탐침입자의 확산운동은 모든 측정농도에서 단일모드로 관찰되었고, 용액상 및 용매상에서의 확산계수의 비인 D/Do를 $C[{\eta}]$로 도시할 때 전체 농도 범위에서 분자량 의존성은 전혀 나타나지 않았으나 신장지수함수의 적용 한계는 C$[{\eta}]$ >2.5인 것으로 관찰되었다.

염석법에 의한 타라검 분획들의 분자량 및 리올로지 특성 (Rheological Characteristics and Molecular Weight of Ammonium-Sulfate Fractions of Tara Gum)

  • $(1{\rightarrow}4)-{\beta}-{\small{D}}-mannopyranosyl$ 골격에 $(1{\rightarrow}6)-{\alpha}-{\small{D}}-galactopyranosyl$ 곁사슬을 갖는 직선사슬로 구성된 다당류로 강한 점성을 나타내는 타라검을 황산암모늄 침전법을 사용하여 분획하였다. 황산암모늄 농도에 따라 얻어진 침전물을 원심분리 및 투석 후 동결상태에서 건조시켜서 첫 번째 분획물을 얻고 동일한 방법으로 각 단계별 분획물을 얻어 F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6으로 표기하였다. 각 분획물들의 묽은 농도범위 0.05 g/dL 이하에서 우베로드 점도계로 흐르는 시간을 측정하여 본성 점도를 구하였으며 그 값은 F1: 12.24, F2: 9.38, F3: 12.44, F4: 11.14, F5: 10.51, F6: 10.17dL/g이었다. F1과 F2 분획물이 갖는 본성 점도는 기대 값보다 작았고 그 원인은 단백질 성분이 비교적 많이 포함되어 분자 간 상호작용으로 생긴 용해도에 미치는 영향으로 판단되었다. 또한 고분자 물질의 용질-용매간의 상호작용과 응집상태에 의존하는 상태를 나타내는 Huggins 계수(k')값을 측정한 결과 점도 값이 클수록 k'값이 커지는 경향을 나타내었다. 원뿔 평판 점도계로 겉보기 점도를 측정하여 전단속도가 증가함에 따라 점도가 감소하는 전단 묽어짐 현상을 확인하였다. SEC 측정으로 중량평균 분자량, 수 평균 분자량, 회전 반경 및 본성 점도 값들이 $c_p=0.5mg/mL$, dn/dc=0.145의 RI 피크면적으로 계산되었다. 본성 점도 값은 F3:1 0.93, F4: 10.01, F5: 9.33, F6: 9.33 dL/g이었고 Mw: 658.52-776.71, Mn: 318.04-495.78 및 Mz: 952.74-1126.00 kg/mol이었다. 타라검 분획물들의 분자량과 유변학적 성질에 관한 연구로부터 화학물질에 대한 안정제 및 식품첨가제로서의 효과를 높이고 점성 강화제로 사용되는 범위가 확대될 것으로 기대된다.

셀루라아제에 의한 면직물의 유연가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on Softening Finish of Cotton Fabric using Cellulase)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the softening effect of cellulase-treated cotton fabric and the damage on the fabric which is accompanied by the treatemnt. Cotton fabric is treated with cellulase under various concentrations and time, and the weight loss, hand values (by KES), surface characteristics, moisture regain, tensile strength, copper number and intrinsic viscosity of the treated samples and untreated samples have been compared. The results are as follows: 1. The weight loss of cotton fabric increased as the concentration of cellulase and the treating time increased. 2. The enzyme treatment had little effect on the stiffness of the treated samples but anti- drape stiffness decreased for the treated samples. Fullness and softness of the treated samples increased and crispness decreased with the lowest level reaching after two hours of the treatment for all concentrations. Scrooping feeling of the treated samples increased and flexibility with soft feeling increased as the treating time and the concentration of cellulase increased. 3. Moisture regain of the samples decreased as the treating time and the concentration of the enzyme increased and the treated fabric showed cracks on the fiber surface, and much surface fibers on the fabric have been removed after the treatment. 4. Tensile strength of the samples decreased as the treating time and as the concentration of cellulase increased, and the copper number increased while the intrinsic viscosity decreased as the treating time increased, but cellulase concentration had a little effect.
