  • In this study, we developed the trial product on 3D magnetic inversion tentatively named 'KMag3D'. Also, we briefly introduced its own function and graphic user interface on which especially focused through the development in the form of user manual. KMag3D is consisted of two fundamental frame for the 3D magnetic inversion. First, algebraic reconstruction technique was selected as a 3D inversion algorithm instead of least square method conventionally used in various magnetic inversion. By comparison, it was turned out that algebraic reconstruction algorithm was more effective and economic than that of least squares in aspect of both computation time and memory. Second, for the effective determination of the 3D initial and a-priori information model required in the execution of our algorithm, we proposed the practical technique based on the assemblage of 2D forward modeling and inversion results for individual user-selected 2D profiles. And in succession, initial and a-priori information model were constructed by appropriate interpolation along the strke direction. From this, we concluded that our technique is both suitable and very practical for the application of 3D magentic inversion problem.

  • Chogye basin, which is surrounded by country rock, has a closed-basin form. In such a basin, incident seismic energy can form multiply reflected waves, thus causing energy concentration to occur at this closed-basin area. Microtremor measurement survey was performed at the Chogye basin, which is located in Chogye-myeon and Jeokjungmyeon, Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, Republic of Korea. Microtremor data were transformed into the frequency domain, and then the horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratios (HVSR) were calculated. Fundamental resonance frequencies were estimated from the HVSR results for every observation point. Using the empirical relationship between site period and thickness for sediment sites in Korea known from the previous study, the distribution of sediment thickness of the Chogye basin was estimated from the fundamental resonance frequencies. Being compared with the mountainous rim with steep slope, the measurement points inside the basin have low values of the fundamental resonance frequency with the minimum of 1.03 Hz, which corresponds to the thickness of sedimentary layer with the maximum depth of about 100 m. A three-dimensional basin model was constructed for bedrock topography of the Chogye basin by an interpolation of basin depths estimated at each measurement site.

  • In this study, GIS method has been used to get fractal characteristics. Using the projected area and surface area, 2 dimensional fractal characteristic of terrain was found out. Correlation of fractal dimension and mean slope were also checked over. Results are as below. 1) To get a fractal dimension, the method which is using the surface area is also directly proportional to complexity of the terrain as other fractal dimension. 2) Fractal dimensions using the surface area, that is proposed in this thesis are carried out as below : Uiseong : $2.02{\sim}2.15$ Yeongcheon : $2.10{\sim}2.24$. These values are in a range of fractal $2.10{\sim}2.20$ dimensions which has known. 3) Correlation of mean slope and fractal dimension is diminished about 30% in a region which is more than $25^{\circ}$ of mean slope. So, in this region using the fractal dimension method is better than using the mean slope. From this study, on formula using the projected area and surface area is still good to get a fractal dimension that has been found. But to confirm this method the region of research should be wider and be set up the correlation of mean slope, surface area and fractal dimension. It can be applicable to restoration of terrain and traffic flow analysis in the future research.

  • Fermented soy sauce was dehydrated by spray drying to form powder, and moisture sorption properties of powdered soy sauce with or without cover of the flexible films were examined on different relative humidity by using saturated salt solutions at $30^{\circ}$. The results obtained were summarized as follows: The equilibrium moisture content of spray-dried soy sauce containing 18.3% moisture was determined to 52% by graphical interpolation method, and E.M.C. of powdered soy sauce covered with plastic films decreased at low relative humidity whereas sharply increased curves were seen at high relative humidity. The rate constant of moisture adsortion K for the power covered with films were $66.2{\times}10^{-5}\;to\;225{\times}10^{-5}/hr$., and K' became greater when film having higher water vapor transmission rate was used. The shelf-life of powdered soy sauce covered with Al. foil/P.E. film by Brown formula at the accelerated condition of $38^{\circ}$, 92% R. H. was the longest period, 164 days compared with any other films used, and the shortest period, 18 days in P.V.C. film.

  • Temperature lapse rate within the planetary boundary layer shows a diurnal cycle with a substantial variation. The widely-used lapse rate value for the standard atmosphere may result in unaffordable errors if used in interpolating hourly temperature in complex terrain. We propose a simple method for estimating hourly lapse rate and evaluate whether this scheme is better than the conventional method using the standard lapse rate. A standard curve for lapse rate based on the diurnal course of temperature was drawn using upper air temperature for 1000hPa and 925hPa standard pressure levels. It was modulated by the hourly sky condition (amount of clouds). In order to test the reliability of this method, hourly lapse rates for the 500-600m layer over Daegwallyeong site were estimated by this method and compared with the measured values by an ultrasonic temperature profiler. Results showed the mean error $-0.0001^{\circ}C/m$ and the root mean square error $0.0024^{\circ}C/m$ for this vertical profile experiment. An additional experiment was carried out to test if this method is applicable for the mountain slope lapse rate. Hourly lapse rates for the 313-401m slope range in a complex watershed ('Hadong Watermark 2') were estimated by this method and compared with the observations. We found this method useful in describing diurnal cycle and variation of the mountain slope lapse rate over a complex terrain despite larger error compared with the vertical profile experiment.

  • The lethal concentration(LC50) of several micropollutants for three species of the fish Paralichthys olivaceus, Mugil cephalus and Sebastes schlegeli were determined by acute toxicity tests. For the determination of definitive test concentrations, the fish were exposed to three test material concentrations spaced at order-of-magnitude intervals based on a logarithmic ratio in range finding tests. LC50 was determined by five concentrations of test material in a geometric progression by means of range finding tests. The 96hr-LC50 values(mg/l) were estimated by the graphical interpolation of probability-logarithm transformations. These indicated that the order of sensitivities to three kind of micropollutants was Mugil cephalus > Paralichthys olivaceus > Sebastes schlegeli.

  • In this paper, we propose the input image selection-method to improve the reconstructed high-resolution (HR) image quality. To obtain ideal super-resolution (SR) reconstruction image, all input images are well-registered. However, the registration is not ideal in practice. Due to this reason, the selection of input images with low registration error (RE) is more important than the number of input images in order to obtain good quality of a HR image. The suitability of a candidate input image can be determined by using statistical and restricted registration properties. Therefore, we propose the proper candidate input Low Resolution(LR) image selection-method as a pre-processing for the SR reconstruction in automatic manner. In video sequences, all input images in specified region are allowed to use SR reconstruction as low-resolution input image and/or the reference image. The candidacy of an input LR image is decided by the threshold value and this threshold is calculated by using the maximum motion compensation error (MMCE) of the reference image. If the motion compensation error (MCE) of LR input image is in the range of 0 < MCE < MMCE then this LR input image is selected for SR reconstruction, else then LR input image are neglected. The optimal reference LR (ORLR) image is decided by comparing the number of the selected LR input (SLRI) images with each reference LR input (RLRI) image. Finally, we generate a HR image by using optimal reference LR image and selected LR images and by using the Hardie's interpolation method. This proposed algorithm is expected to improve the quality of SR without any user intervention.

  • Nowadays, flood hazard maps have been generated to minimize the damages from the flooding. To generate such flood hazard maps, LiDAR data can be used as data source with higher data accuracy. LiDAR data, however, requires relatively higher cost and longer processing time. In this background, this study proposed DEM generation using NGIS digital topographic maps. For that, breaklines were processed to count directions of water flows. In addition, the river profile data, unique data source to represent real topography of the river area, were integrated to the breaklines to generate DEM. City of Kuri in Kyunggi Province was selected for this study and 1:1,000 and 1:5,000 topographic maps were integrated to process breaklines and river profile data were also linked to generate DEM. The generated DEM showed relatively lower vertical accuracy from mixing 1:1,000 and 1:5,000 topographic maps since 1:1,000 topographic maps were not available for some portion of the area. However, the DEM generated demonstrated reasonable accuracy and resolution for flood map generation as well as higher cost saving effects. On the contrary, for more efficient utilization of NGIS topographic maps, periodic map updating needs to be made including technical consideration in building breaklines and applying interpolation methods.

  • Since the resolution of the 2-D hole-to-hole seismic traveltime tomography is affected by the limited ray transmission angle, various methods were used to improve the resolution. Linear traveltime interpolation(LTI) ray tracing method was chosen for forward-modeling method. Inversion results using the LTI method were compared with those using the other ray tracing methods. As an inversion algorithm, SIRT method was used. In the iterative non-linear inversion method, the cost of ray tracing is quite expensive. To reduce the cost, each raypath was stored and the inversion was performed from this information. Using the proposed method, fast convergence was achieved. Inversion results are likely to be affected by the initial velocity guess, especially when the ray transmission angle was limited. To provide a good initial guess for the inversion, generalized regression neural network(GRNN) method was used. When the transmitted raypath angle is not limited or the geological model is very complex, the inversion results are not affected by initial velocity model very much. Since the raypath angles, however, are limited in most geophysical tomographic problems, the enhancement of resolution in tomography can be achieved by providing a proper initial velocity model by another inversion algorithm such as GRNN.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a data transformation method for visualizing the statistical information based on the grid system which has regular shape and size. Grid is better solution than administrator boundary or census block to check the distribution of the statistical information and be able to use as a spatial unit on the map flexibly. On the other hand, we need the additional process to convert the various statistical information to grid if we use the current method which is areal interpolation. Therefore, this paper proposes the 3 steps to convert the various statistical information to grid. 1)Geocoding the statistical information, 2)Converting the spatial information through the defining the spatial relationship, 3)Attribute transformation considering the data scale measurement. This method applies to the population density of Seoul to convert to the grid. Especially, spatial autocorrelation is performed to check the consistency of grid display if the reference data is different for same statistic information. As a result, both distribution of grid are similar to each other when the population density data which is represented by census block and building is converted to grid. Through the result of implementation, it is demonstrated to be able to perform the consistent data conversion based on the proposed method.
