There is a considerable gap in the level of the Internet access charges among countries because of the history of the Internet use, current status of the Internet infrastructure, the Internet penetration rate, and so on. Low Internet access charge increases the number of the Internet users and the Internet penetration rate, which boosts economic activities. This paper empirically explores the impacts of the internet access charges on economic activities using a cross-country analysis based on data from 76 countries for the year 1998-2001. To this end, several versions of the neoclassical growth models, explicitly including the internet access charges, are estimated with the GDP used for a proxy for economic activities and the level of Internet access charges considered as an input to production. Subject to the appropriate caveats, the results show that the level of the Internet access charges make a significantly negative effect on economic activities. In other words, it is concluded that low Internet access charges of a county increase economic activities and the increased economic activities in turn raise the real income of the county.

This study empirically investigates the impact of informatization on China's inbound tourism development. The analysis utilizes data on the number of inbound tourist arrivals in 30 Chinese provinces from 13 tourist origin countries between 2004 and 2016. The regional informatization level is measured by the internet penetration rate. It is found that informatization in tourist destination provinces has a significant positive impact on inbound tourism. Moreover, the local public service supply plays a moderating role. The positive effect of informatization is stronger in regions with better public services. The study results imply that China can boost its inbound tourism by further improving the level of informatization as well as local public services.

Recently, the web index of Korea peaked at the top 10 among the eighty six countries, and Korea became the only Asian country ranked at the top level. Korea also has been on the top in the field of Internet penetration rate, in terms of both high-speed broadband and wireless Internet. However, such achievements did not guarantee the national level for the effective use of information utilizing Internet. According to OECD, the national informatization index of Korea has not been free from the middle of the OECD countries. Despite of the heightened pressure in practically enhancing effective information use utilizing Internet, the previous research interests and efforts to develop the Internet-related framework or to identify Internet capabilities rarely existed. The study aims to propose the framework, named "Internet Information Orientation" that illustrates the relationship between Internet capabilities and national competitiveness on Internet. The research identified the specific Internet capabilities, reclassified the capabilities based on the research issues provided at the 6th international conference on Internet held in December 2014, and finally described the rigorous research endeavors on the issues. As a result, 16 papers presented and selected as the outstanding papers at the conference handle issues to be brought together, which include: Wireless Network, Internet of Things, Green Computing, Multimedia Processing, Big Data and Text Mining, Database in Cloud Environment, Business Intelligence, Software Engineering, IT Strategy & Policy, and Social Network Services.
The rapid increase in the use of mobile devices is changing consumers' online shopping behavior. However, the difference in the effect on the conversion rate according to the time when consumers switch from a small screen to a large screen has not been sufficiently studied. In addition, the differences in the effect of device conversion on purchase performance according to the characteristics of each country's infrastructure have not been sufficiently studied. Against this background, this study aims to analyze whether the timing of switching from mobile devices to PC devices and the country's mobile Internet penetration rate are moderating the positive effect of device switching on purchase performance. For empirical analysis, Google Merchandise Store data was collected and 101,466 data from 130 countries were analyzed with a multilevel model. As a result of the analysis, consumers' device switching (i.e., mobile to PC) had a positive effect when it occurred in the middle of the consumer journey. However, it was analyzed that when device switching occurred at the later stage of the consumer journey, it had a negative effect on purchase performance. In addition, it was analyzed that the higher the mobile Internet penetration rate, the weaker the positive effect of consumer device conversion on purchase performance.
In the first quarter of 2004, there were about 1 billion 348 million mobile phone users worldwide with a penetration rate of only 29%. Korea ranks among the highest in the use of mobile communication, having over 36 million mobile phone subscribers with a mobile phone penetration rate of 75% as of May 2004. Since the introduction of wireless Internet service in May 1999, the number of subscribers rose to 34.5 million with 95.3% of the total mobile phone subscribers using wireless Internet services in May 2004, largely due to continued investments by telecommunication service providers, improvement of mobile handsets (color and digital camera phones) and implementation of policies on mobile number portability. In the Korean wireless Internet market, there are many user complaints since the service providers are competing with each other through TV commercial sales and phone discounts rather than improving their call quality, services and billing systems. therefore there is a growing need to improve the billing systems through means such as the implementation of reasonable payment plans according to consumer use, development of a wireless Internet billing system that can predict the number of users and establishment of pricing standards for controlled data (head, tail, etc...) as well as menu information by testing the texts. multimedia, video and other types of content provided by the three major mobile communication companies. The purpose of this study is to promote wireless Internet services and protect user rights by proposing a reasonable way to improve the billing systems for wireless Internet services after conducting a comparative analysis of file size and billing data of each of the service providers through a verification test on a packet billing system for wireless Internet services.
This study examines online social media diffusion across different countries that will help to provide a picture of current global online social network services (SNSs). Analyzing country-level data drawn from 78 nations, we find that non-technological factors such as culture and language as well as technological factors including Internet penetration rate and smartphone adoption rate have significant effects on online social media diffusion. These findings, derived from a broad range of different countries, not only provide theoretical insights into understanding critical factors that enable successful global expansion of online social media services but also help practitioners plan their marketing strategies more effectively in a global context.
Information system has been at center of economic development in several developed countries, and as Africa envision to improve its global economic competitiveness it is important to assess penetration rate the digital divide and catch-up effect over the years. This paper examined whether there exists digital divide and if so, is it narrowing over time and whether the ICT is converging with time in the African countries. Three technologies namely mobile-cellular, internet and fixed broadband were used to measure the digital divide and the catch-up effect. Gamma and sigma convergence methodology together with averaged penetration ratios were used to assess the cross-country performance of each technology. This study confirms both the narrowing of digital divide and convergence of ICT in all three technologies for both total group and subgroups. The digital gap was narrowing over time and the low-income countries were catching up faster to the middle-income countries in all three technologies. However, there are marked differences exhibited in the speed of narrowing digital divide and the speed of convergence between the total groups and the subgroups of countries. Some policy implications were discussed in the conclusion and they can be utilized in designing developmental ICT policies in each technology case for individual countries.

Generally, the plate load test and the field density test are conducted for compaction quality control in earthwork, and then additional analysis. Recently developed that the DCPT (Dynamic Cone Penetration Test) equipment for smart compaction quality control its the system are able to get location and real-time information about worker history management. The IoT-based the DCPT system improved the time-cost in the field compared traditional test, and the functions recording and storage of the DPI (Dynamic Cone Penetration Index) were automated. This paper describes using these DCPT equipment on in-situ and compared to the standards of the DCPT, and the compaction trend had be confirmed with DPI as the field test data. As a result, the DPI of the final compaction decreased by 1.4 times compared to the initial compaction, confirming the increase in the compaction strength of the subgrade compaction layer 10 to 14 cm deep from the surface. A trend of increasing compaction strength was observed. This showed a tendency to increase the compaction strength of the target DPI proposed by MnDOT and the results of the existing plate load test, but there was a difference in the increase rate. Therefore, additional studies are needed on domestic compaction materials and laboratory conditions for target DPI and correlation studies with the plate load tests. If this is reflected, it is suggested that DCPT will be widely used as smart construction equipment in earthworks.

The urinalysis, which is universally accessible to the general public, has disadvantages of being less objective using sight and purchasing a separate portable urinalysis machine. However, due to the high penetration rate and performance improvement of smartphone created by the development of mobile communication technology, research on urinalysis services using smartphone has been conducted. In this paper, a new urinalysis screening application based on smartphone was developed by supplementing the limitations of the previously studied urinalysis services. The key technology of the application is urinalysis recognition algorithm and urinalysis pad color determination algorithm through image-processing and contour detection. In order to confirm the performance of the developed application, urinalysis strip was photographed and analyzed from various backgrounds and angles.
Despite the phenomenal growth of Internet users in recent years, the penetration rate of B2C electronic commerce(EC) is still low. According to previous studies, one of most often cited reasons is the lack of consumers' trust. Although trust is an important concept in B2C EC, there is a lack of theory-based empirical research in this area. In this paper, influencing factors are proposed for investigating the nature of trust in the specific context of B2C EC. Thirteen hypotheses are empirically tested. The results show that most of hypotheses are supported except for perceived size, perceived competence, perceived reputation, familiarity and third party recognition. In addition trust was found to have a strong positive effect on intention to purchase. Finally, trust was found to have a mediation effect between on influencing factors and intention to purchase. Implications of these findings are discussed for researchers and practitioners.
