To support UDP-based real-time multimedia applications over the Internet, it is necessary to provide a certain amount of bandwidth within the network so that the performance of the applications will not be seriously affected during periods of congestion. Since the flow rates of some of these applications do not back of during periods of congestion, it is also necessary to protect flow-controlled TCP flows from unresponsive or aggressive UDP flows. To achieve these goals, we propose a simple queue policy to support multimedia applications, called threshold-based queue management (TBQM). TBQM isolates UDP flows efficiently from TCP flows to protect TCP flows while supporting bandwidth requirements of UDP applications that require QoS. In addition, TBQM supports drop fairness between TCP flows without maintaining per-flow state. We also present some experimental results to show that the proposed queue policy can work well.

인터넷 기술이 반전함에 따라서 인터넷을 통한 서비스에 대한 관심도가 증가되고 있다. 특히 멀티미디어 서비스인 경우 QoS(Quality of Service)를 보장해야 만다. 그런데 제한된 대역폭 내에서 전송량이 급격히 증가하는 경우 네트워크 자원의 이용도와 서비스의 품질에 큰 영향을 준다. 이에 스무딩 기법은 가변 비트율(VBR : Variable Bit Rate)을 가진 비디오 스트림(Stream)을 전송할 때 네트워크 자원의 이용도와 서비스의 품질 저하를 막기 위해 전송률(Transmission rate)을 일정하게 유지시키는 기법으로 서버와 네트워크 사이의 중간노드에서 수행된다. 본 논문에서 스무딩 알고리즘을 프레임 단위로 저리할 경우 해당자원의 과부하가 탄생하므로 이를 개선한 스무딩 알고리즘을 제안하고, 기존 스무딩 알고리즘의 시간 복잡도와 성능을 중심으로 비교 분석하였다.

This paper proposes a quality-of-service(QoS)-adaptive proxy-switching scheme for multimedia streaming over the Internet. characteristic of multimedia-object about that effect on weight and transport-time causes Streaming Application is restricted to high-quality-service. But using of Proxy or Cache can reduce restraint of media stream. However previous scheme propose only structure of proxy and skill of streaming-object. It couldn't propose proper scheme about limited cache and proxy error occasion. We propose adaptive-proxy-switching mechanism for solution about some problems that caused by single-proxy and limited cache in case of streaming service.

Smart metering is one of the most implementable internet-of-thing service. In order to implement the smart metering, a wireless communication network should be newly designed and evaluated so as to satisfy quality-of-service of smart metering. In this paper, we consider a wireless network for the smart metering implemented with multi-purpose wireless chips and channel coding-functioned micro controllers. Especially, channel coding is newly adopted to improve successful frame transmission probability. Based on the successful frame transmission probability, average transmission delay and delay violation probability are analyzed. Using the analytical results, service coverage expansion is evaluated. Through the delay analysis, service feasibility can be verified. According to our results, channel coding needs not to be utilized to improve the delay performance if the smart metering service coverage is several tens of meters. However, if more coverage is required, chanel coding adoption definitely reduces the delay time and improve the service feasibility.

The trend of Next Generation Networks' (NGN) evolution is towards providing multiple and multimedia services to users through ubiquitous networks. The aim of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is to integrate mobile communication networks and computer networks. The IMS plays an important role in NGN services, which can be achieved by heterogeneous networks and different access technologies. IMS can be used to manage all service related issues such as Quality of Service (QoS), Charging, Access Control, User and Services Management. Nowadays, internet technology is changing with each passing day. New technologies yield new impact to IMS. In this paper, we perform a survey of IMS and discuss the different impacts of new technologies on IMS such as P2P, SCIM, Web Service and its security issues.

음성 데이터를 IP기반의 패킷망을 통해 전송하는 기술인 VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) 기술은 음성 데이터를 기존의 PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network)망을 통해 전송하는 방식에 비해 비용 절감 등의 장점을 가지고 있다. 그러나 VoIP가 기존의 PSTN망을 대체하기 위해서는 QoS(Quality of Service)의 보장과 보안이 제공되어야 한다는 문제점을 가지고 있다. VoIP망에서 보안을 위해서는 사용자간에 전송되는 음성 데이터에 대한 보안과 초기의 세션 연결 시 사용자를 인증하는 과정이 고려되어져야 한다. 실질적인 대화 내용인 음성 데이터의 보안도 중요한 부분이지만 대화에 참여하는 사용자를 인증하는 과정이 선행되어야 한다. VoIP에서는 세션 연결 설정을 위해 H.323과 SIP를 사용하고 있으며, 최근에는 H.323에 비해 간단한 SIP가 주목을 받고 있다. RFC3261에서는 SIP를 이용해 세션 연결을 하는 과정에서 사용자를 인증하기 위한 몇 가지 인증 메커니즘을 제시하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 SIP를 이용하여 세션을 연결하는 과정에서 사용자의 인증을 위해 사용되는 인증 메커니즘 중 한 가지인 HTTP Digest Authentication의 취약점을 분석하고, 이를 보완하기 위한 새로운 인증 메커니즘을 제시한다.

최근, 데이터 트래픽이 폭발적 증가와 함께 전통적인 전화 트랙픽을 양적으로 넘어서게 됨에 따라 정보 통신망은 이를 수용하기 위해서 전반적인 큰 변화를 겪고 있는 중이다. 가입자의 인터넷 요구 대역폭 및 QoS를 만족시키면서 패킷 전송과 라우팅이 처리되며, 경제적이고 단순한 광 네트워크를 구축하기 위해서는 IPOW(Internet Protocol Over WDM)가 가장 적합한 기술이라고 일반적으로 생각되고 있다. 초기에는 주로 장거리 점대점 간 대용량 전송에 기여하던 WDM(wavelength division multiplexing) 기술이 최근 들어 동적인 파장 및 대역 할당을 통해서 망 구성의 유연성과 생존성을 향상시키는데 적용됨에 따라, 광 전송기술과 더불어 광 스위칭 및 라우팅 기술의 중요성이 부각되고 있고 이에 관한 표준화 작업도 빠르게 진행되고 있다. 본 고는 IPOW 기술 및 동향을 간단히 살펴 보고, 광 스위칭/라우팅과 관련한 표준화 동향과 전망에 대하여 살펴 본다.

멀티미디어 시대로의 진입에 따른 인터넷에서의 실시간 데이터 전송을 위한 어플리케이션의 요구에도 불구하고 현재의 인터넷은 최선형 서비스만을 제공할 뿐 QoS(quality of service)를 제공하지 못하고 있다. 이에 인터넷 표준화 기구에서는 종합서비스(IS : integrate service)모델을 정했다. 〔5〕 그러나 기존의 shared LAN 환경에 이를 적용하기에는 자원의 공유로 인한 어려움이 있다. 반면. 직렬 버스의 표준으로 자리잡은 IEEE 1394 고속 직렬 버스〔1〕〔2〕는 예약된 대역폭을 보장할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 고속통신이 가능하여 IS 모델의 적용에 적합한 기술이라고 할 수 있다. IS over 1394 프로토콜〔8〕은 IS 모델을 IEEE 1394 고속 직렬 버스에 적용하기 위한 프로토콜로써 본 논문에서는 이의 구현을 위한 구조를 고찰하였다.

Multiprotocol Label Switching is an initiating IETF that integrated Layer2 information network links(bandwidth, latency, utilization) to Layer 3(IP) with a particular autonomous system(or ISP) in order to simplify and improve IP-packet exchange. MPLS gives network operators a grate deal of flexibility to divert and route traffic around link failures, congestion, and bottlenecks. The MPLS has advantages that will be able to solve existing problem of Network that ISP have had IP, QoS, Gigabit forwarding and traffic engineering. The purpose of this study is to measure Access-list and the capacities of PE Router that would operate as MPLS. Many ISP using MPLS service to handle high-speed internet traffic with apply to firewall in future.

광대역 멀티미디어 응용에 필수적인 높은 대역폭과 다양한 서비스 품질(QoS)을 지원할 수 있는 ATM 망의 초기 도입 단계로서 기존 LAN 환경의 데이터 통신 응용들을 우선적으로 수용하기 위한 노력이 국제 표준화 기관들을 중심으로 활발히 진행되었다. IETF(Internet Engineer Task Force)의 IP over ATM(IPOA)과 ATM 포럼의 LAN Emulation(LANE)은 초기에 제안된 대표적인 규격이다. 이 고전적 모델은 이미 많은 곳에 구축되어 있으며 이들 망은 점차 확장되어 서로의 모델간의 통신을 필요로 하고 있다. 그러나 제 3계층에서 연동하는 IETF와 제 2계층에서 연동하는 ATM 포럼의 시각 차이로 인해 두 모델간의 통신은 복잡한 경로를 통해야만 가능하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존의 망 구조를 유지하면서 효율적이고 경제적으로 서로 다른 두 모델간의 통신을 할 수 있는 ATM BRouter를 이용한 방법을 제안하고 제안된 방법에 사용될 ATM BRouter의 구성 및 기능, 구현에 관한 내용을 기술한다.
