The Effect of Soleus Passive Stretching on the Range of Motion of the Ankle Joint

  • In this study, 20 men and women in their 20s were divided into a footboard passive stretching group and a manual passive stretching group. After stretching was applied to the soleus for 5 weeks, a comparative analysis was performed on the range of motion(ROM) of the ankle joint to determine changes in the flexibility of the soleus. Both the footboard stretching group and manual stretching group first performed stretching for 15 sec, followed by a 10-sec break. One set consisted of performing the above process twice consecutively, and each group had to perform five sets in total. A goniometer was used as a measuring instrument. The results of the experiment were analyzed using a nonparametric analysis, Wilcoxon signed rank test, and Mann-Whitney test. SPSS WIN 18.0 was employed for the statistical analysis. In terms of the comparison of the flexibility before and after the experiment according to the different interventions, the application of footboard stretching to the soleus for 5 weeks resulted in $3.2^{\circ}$ right dorsiflexion (p=.009), $6.98^{\circ}$ right plantar flexion(p=.008), $4.14^{\circ}$ left dorsiflexion(p=.005), and $10.97^{\circ}$ left plantar flexion(p=.007), which were all statistically significant increases. The application of manual stretching led to $6.04^{\circ}$ right dorsiflexion(p=.005), $12.14^{\circ}$ right plantar flexion(p=.005), $7.00^{\circ}$ left dorsiflexion (p=.008), and $16.38^{\circ}$ left plantar flexion(p=.005). Therefore, both footboard stretching and manual stretching were effective in enhancing the flexibility of the soleus. However, statistically significant larger increases in the ROM of the ankle joint were observed in the manual stretching group.

Comparison on the Effects of Masseter Muscle Tension on Restricted Movement in the Temporomandibular Joint

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the level of masseter muscle tension according to the levels of restricted movement and pain in the temporomandibular joint(TMJ), thereby verifying the fact that excessive masseter muscle tension can be a cause for restricted movement and pain in the TMJ. The subjects of this study were 81 men and women in their 20s and 30s, who feel uncomfortable with their masticatory function on the preferred chewing side. The subjects were measured in terms of the range of motion (ROM) and deviation of the TMJ and the degree of pain in the affected region. The ROM and deviation of the TMJ were measured using the Global Posture System(GPS) after instructing each subject to open his/her mouth to the fullest and taking photos of the subject with a digital camera. The tension of the masseter muscle was measured with a Pressure Threshold Meter(PTM). After the measurements, in order to compare the ROM of the TMJ, the subjects were divided into two groups based on the ROM of above 35mm and below 35mm. For the deviation and pain, based on the average of total subjects, the subjects were divided into two groups of above and below average. Thereafter, the levels of masseter muscle tension were compared between each pair of groups. According to the results, when each variable was compared between the respective two groups, in terms of the deviation, the pressure pain threshold(PPT) of the masseter muscle revealed a statistically significant difference(p<.05). However, the ROM and pain showed no statistically significant difference. Consequently, masseter muscle tension may cause restricted movement in the TMJ. In particular, the deviation and tension in the masseter muscle is considered to be a factor that causes deviation in the TMJ.

Effects of Combined Wedge on Angle and Moment of Ankle and Knee Joint During Gait in Patients With Genu Varus

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of combined wedge on the range of motion in ankle and knee joint, ankle eversion moment and knee adduction moment, and center of pressure excursion of foot for genu varus among adult men during gait. This study was carried out with 10 adult men for genu varus in a motion analysis laboratory in J university. The subjects of the experiment were measured above 5cm width between the knees on contact of both medial malleolus of ankle while standing. The width of their knees in neutral position was measured without the inversion or eversion of the subtalar joint by the investigator. The subjects of the experiment were ten who were conducted randomly for standard insole, insole with $10^{\circ}$ lateral on rear foot wedge, insole at $10^{\circ}$lateral on rear foot and $5^{\circ}$ medial on fore foot wedge. Before and after intervention, changes on the range of motion in ankle and knee joint, ankle eversion moment and knee adduction moment, and center of pressure excursion were measured. In order to compare analyses among groups; repeated one-way ANOVA and $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ post hoc test were used. As a result, combined wedge group was significantly decreased compared to control wedge group in terms of knee varus angle in mid-stance(p<.05). Combined wedge group was significantly decreased compared to lateral wedge group in terms of ankle eversion moment in whole stance(p<.05). Combined wedge group was significantly decreased compared to lateral wedge group in terms of knee adduction moment in whole stance(p<.05). Combined wedge group was significantly decreased compared to lateral wedge in terms of center of pressure excursion in whole stance(p<.05). The results of this study suggest that combined wedge for genu varus decreased ankle eversion moment and knee adduction moment upon center of pressure excursion. We hypothesize that combined wedge may also be effective in the protection excessive ankle pronation.

선화주 균형발전을 위한 해운법 및 독점규제법의 개정방향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Direction for Revision of Korea Shipping Act and Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act)

  • Korea Shipping Act admits shipping conferences' joint actions like rate agreement, sailing agreement in some degree for development of shipping transport industries for decades. Meanwhile, EU has prohibited all kinds of shipping conferences' joint actions since October 2008, and many advanced countries also have similar position on shipping conference. The balance development between shippers and ship owners is very important in terms of national economic growth. So it is appropriate time to revise related laws such as Shipping Act and Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act. First, It is direction for revision of Korean Shipping Act. The act has to define precisely the criteria of "unfairness" in case of admitting of shipping conferences' joint actions. Shipping conferences have a conference with shipper or shipper's delegation substantially on freight and transport conditions and so on. Second, It is direction for revision of Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act. The fair trade commission has to perform fair roles between shippers and ship owners. The judgement of fairness has to confirm according to the spirit of not Korea Shipping Act but Korea Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act itself.

Applying PKI for Internet Voting System

  • We have designed an Internet voting system applicable for worldwide voting which is based on Ohkubo et. al,'s scheme[9] combined with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first trial to serve secure Internet voting system to the world. In our system, voter's privacy is guaranteed by using blind signature and mix-net, and robustness is provided through the threshold encryption scheme. By employing Java technology, we propose a way of typical implementation for internet voting system. Furthermore, PKI permits worldwide key distribution and achieve “one certificate/one vote” policy. Therefore, anyone can participate in the voting if he gets a certificate from Certificate Authority (CA). By the joint work between Korean and Japanese teams, the implementation aims to select MVPs in 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea-Japan$\^$TM/ in easy and friendly manner for any Internet user to participate and enjoy Internet voting.

우리나라 기업 국제공동연구 참여전략에 관한 연구 -EU의 EUREKA Cluster를 중심으로- (The Strategy for Participation of international R&D Cooperation for Korean Companies -specially EU Cluster Program-)

  • 정부는 2008년에서 2012 과학기술 577전략을 발표하고 세계적인 과학 기술력을 가지기 위해 꾸준한 노력을 기울이고 있다. 하지만 공동연구 사업은 총 예산 중 전체 예산의 1.3% 만이 투입되었다. 특히 EU권과의 국제공동연구에 대한 성과는 정부의 노력에 비해 크지 않다. 본 논문에서는 우리나라 기업들이 국제 공동연구 참여전략 방안을 찾는데 연구의 목적을 둔다. 그 중에서 특히 EU권 EUREKA를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 본 논문은 6장으로 구성되어 있다. 제 2장에서는 우리나라 기업들의 국제 공동연구 참여현황을 살펴보았다. 이어서 제 3장은 국제공동연구에 대한 이론적 배경 그리고 제 4장에서는 연구방법 그리고 제 5장에서는 본 논문의 핵심인 EU의 EUREKA 공동연구 참여방안이 제시되었으며 제 6장에서는 결론 및 정책적 제안점을 도출하였다.

BFL형의 매설형 신축이음장치의 내구성 평가 (Durability Evaluation of a Buried Expansion Joint of Buried Folding Lattice Type)

  • 국내 대부분을 차지하고 있는 노출형 신축이음장치는 주행 시 소음과 충격을 발생시켜 주행성을 떨어뜨리며, 많은 유지관리비가 소요되고 있다. 이에 미국과 유럽 등에서 적용되었던 매설형 신축이음장치인 Asphalt Plug Joint(APJ) 시스템을 기본으로 하부 구조를 개량한, 새로운 매설형 신축이음장치 Buried Folding Lattice Joint(BFLJ) 시스템이 제안되었다. 본 연구에서는 실험을 통해 매설형 신축이음장치의 상부포장 혼합물에 따른 내구성 및 신축 특성을 비교하였으며, 포장가속시험을 통해 실제 차량 하중에 대한 BFLJ 시스템의 내구성을 평가하였다. 실험결과 개발된 BFLJ 시스템은 기존 APJ 시스템에 비해 신축성능이 우수하며 접합부에서의 응력 집중을 완화시켰다. 또한 차량 하중에 의한 BFLJ 시스템의 표면 처짐이 크게 발생하지 않았으며, 신축이음장치 내의 하부 구조의 손상이 없었던 점에서 기존 APJ 시스템의 문제점을 극복하고 조기파손을 예방할 수 있을 것이라 판단되었다.

기상과 재료 특성에 의한 공항 콘크리트 포장 팽창줄눈 간격의 적정성 검토 (Propriety Examination of Expansion Joint Spacing of Airport Concrete Pavement by Weather and Material Characteristics)

  • PURPOSES : In this study, the propriety of expansion joint spacing of airport concrete pavement was examined by using weather and material characteristics. METHODS : A finite element model for simulating airport concrete pavement was developed and blowup occurrence due to temperature increase was analyzed. The critical temperature causing the expansion of concrete slab and blow up at the expansion joint was calculated according to the initial vertical displacement at the joint. The amount of expansion that can occur in the concrete slab for 20 years of design life was calculated by summing the expansion and contraction by temperature, alkali-silica reaction, and drying shrinkage. The effective expansion of pavement section between adjacent expansion joints was calculated by subtracting the effective width of expansion joint from the summation of the expansion of the pavement section. The temperature change causing the effective expansion of pavement section was also calculated. The effective expansion equivalent temperature change was compared to the critical temperature, which causes the blowup, according to expansion joint spacing to verify the propriety of expansion joint applied to the airport concrete pavement. RESULTS : When an initial vertical displacement of the expansion joint was 3mm or less, the blowup never occurred for 300m of joint spacing which is used in Korean airports currently. But, there was a risk of blow-up when an initial vertical displacement of the expansion joint was 5mm or more due to the weather or material characteristics. CONCLUSIONS : It was confirmed that the intial vertical displacement at the expansion joint could be managed below 3mm from the previous research results. Accordingly it was concluded that the 300m of current expansion joint spacing of Korean airports could be used without blowup by controling the alkali-silica reaction below its allowable limit.

  • 급변하는 환경에서 지속 가능한 경쟁우위를 확보하기 위해 기업들은 끊임없이 새로운 지식을 획득해야 한다. 인수합병이나, 지식재산권의 구매 등이 이를 위한 대표적인 수단이나, 합작회사의 설립도 보완자산을 내재화하기 위한 효과적인 지식 획득 방법으로 주목받고 있다. 그러나 모든 합작회사가 새로운 지식을 성공적으로 획득하는 것은 아닌데, 이는 기업들이 획득하고자 하는 지식의 특성에 맞는 적절한 학습전략 및 조직 구조를 갖추지 못했기 때문인 경우가 많다. 본 연구는 이 같은 문제의식 하에 상황이론 관점에서 지식의 특성을 다차원 적으로 구분하고 지식 특성에 맞는 학습전략과 조직구조의 필요성을 자동차 부품분야의 국제 합작회사 사례를 통해 살펴보았다. 하드웨어 기술에 최적화된 사례 회사(국제합작회사)는 다른 성격의 지식인 소프트웨어 기술을 습득하기 위해 차별화된 학습 전략과 조직구조를 갖추지 못했고, 이러한 미스매치로 인해 합작회사를 통한 새로운 지식(엔진제어시스템 기술)의 흡수에 실패하였다. 본 연구는 기업이 성공적 지식흡수를 위해 고려해야 할 요소들을 이론적 프레임워크를 통해 제시하고 실증분석을 통해 이를 검증함으로써 합작회사 설립, 인수합병 등 조직 변화를 통해 동태적 역량을 확보하고자 하는 기업들에게 실무적 시사점을 제공하고 있다.

  • Objectives : This study is performed for proposing reasonable clinical study protocol at International standard clinical study of osteoarthritis of Knee Joint. Methods : We gave the eighteen oriental medicine doctors the questionnaire and the video about female patient who diagnosed Knee joint of osteoarthritis above 60 years old and they tested same patients using differentiation of symptoms and signs. Then they retested it after We educated them with diagnosis education text. Conclusion : The improvement of diagnosis agreement can be possible by developing standardized the same patients using differentiation of symptoms and by reeducation about it.
