Evidence of Vertical Mixing Caused by High Frequency Internal Waves along the Eastern Coast of Korea

  • Internal waves and internal tides occur frequently along the eastern coast of Korea. During the spring-tide period in April 2003, the East Korean Warm Current (EKWC) flowed near the Korean East Coast Farming Forecast System (KECFFS; a moored oceanographic measurement system), creating a strong thermocline at the intermediate layer. Weakened stratification and well-mixed water appeared frequently around the KECFFS, with duration of approximately 1 day. The results suggest the following scenario. Baroclinic motion related to the internal tide generated high frequency internal waves around the thermocline. The breaking of those waves then created turbulence around the thermocline. After well-mixed water appeared, a current component with perpendicular direction to the EKWC appeared within the inertial period. The change in stratification around the KECFFS locally broke the geostrophic balance as a transient state. This local vertical mixing formed an ageostrophic current within the inertial period.

  • At maritime safety committee 78th of IMO, the Norway suggested the development of provisions for installation and operation of gas fuelled internal combustion engine with the exception of LNG carrier. At first, this document decribes gas fuelled internal combustion engine, describes IMO's tredency under FP sub-committee, DE sub-committee and BLG sub-committee's purview. Furthermore, this paper proposes actions requested the development of this provisions in Republic of Korea.

Development of Kiln Schedules to Eliminate the Development of Internal Checking in Radiata Pine Boards

  • Kiln schedule development was based on two schedule phases, the first being to determine the maximum safe kiln temperature during the check prone initial stage of drying, with the second stage determining how to accelerate drying once the danger of checking had passed. This was achieved by using 38 mm thick boards which were pre-screened for susceptibility to internal checking, and then drying matched sample boards over a range of kiln temperatures. Research has shown that below 50% MC there is no further risk of internal checking. However, difference in drying rate due to board width and the increased occurrence of wet patches in wide boards means that it is essential to modify the basic schedule according to the maximum board width. A condition of 52/40 $^{\circ}C$ was selected for the checking-free initial kiln drying step and a 5-step kiln-schedule dried the boards from 109% to 8% MC for 72.5 hours without internal checking.

항공기 내부무장 분리특성 분석을 위한 풍동시험연구 (An Experimental Study on Aircraft Internal Store Separation Characteristics)

  • This study investigates store separation characteristics of an unmanned aerial vehicle having generic stealth configuration over unsteady flow of an internal bay. Free-drop wind tunnel tests are conducted to simulate bomb releases from an internal weapons bay while high-speed camera images are taken. The images are analyzed to examine the effects of flow velocity, angle of attack, flap deflection and the ejector force application on the store separation trajectories. For the free-drop wind tunnel tests, Froude Scaling is applied to match the dynamic similarity for the bomb model, and the ejector force is simulated by using small pneumatic cylinders. The results indicate that the test bomb model safely separates from the internal bay at the given test conditions and configurations. It is also observed that the effects of the flow velocity and ejector force application have greater impacts on the separation trajectories than those of angle of attack and flap deflection.

한의약 건강증진 사업의 현황과 발전방안 연구 (A Study on the Status and Development Plan of the Korean Medical Public Health Program)

  • Objectives: We conducted research on 100 cases of Korean medical health promotion programs to determine how they work. The objective was to report trends in such programs and, by extension, to suggest a development plan for the Korean medical public health program. Methods: To research 100 Korean medical health promotion programs, we analyzed source data published by the Korea Health Promotion Institute in 2014-2018 using 10 criteria. Results & conclusions: Based on effective trends, the development of a Korean medical public health program requires the following options. First, we should complement the systems with related legislation and deal with Korean medical doctors who mainly participate in public health programs. Second, we should improve the infrastructure of the program with internal support from the Korean medical association and clarifying the legal basis of the national budget. Third, we should seek substantiality of public health programs. Korean medical doctors should actively participate in the program, and related agencies should support the public health care center for the development of Korean medical public health programs in which many people can participate.

Fuji 사과의 CA저장중 저장조건이 과육갈변에 미치는 영향 (Effect of CA Storage Conditions on the Internal Breakdown of Fuji Apple Fruits under CA Storage)

  • The internal breakdown of Fuji apple during CA storage classified as watercore breakdown, low temperature breakdown and CO2 injury. This study was undertaken to investigate the watercore breakdown injury factors of Korean Fuji apple during CA storage. The development of internal breakdown was more increased with the larger size, the later harvest time and the hither CO2 gas level. But in internal breakdown fruit of the titratable acidity and soluble solid decreased significantly, the pH of fruit juice and the production of carbon dioxide was greatly increased. The best gas levels of CA storage was 2% oxygen and 3% carbon dioxide. Thus, the predictable parameters of internal breakdown of fruit were increase in pH on decrease titratable acidity within 2 months of CA storage, increase carbon dioxide. So, it was found that the best CA sotrage for internal breakdown control of fruit during CA storage was delayed CA storage methods after low temperature storage immediate harvest of apple and than took a step. The delayed CA storage after low temperature storage for 2 months was more effective in the prevention of development of internal breakdown than immediate CA storage after harvest.

가열 한우육 및 호주산우육 스테이크에서 심부온도에 따른 glucose, lactate 및 핵산 분해 물질 함량 비교 (Comparison of glucose, lactate, and nucleotide degradation products content of cooked Hanwoo and Australian beef steaks by internal temperature)

  • 본 연구는 가열 한우육 및 호주산우육 스테이크에서 심부온도에 따른 glucose, lactate 및 핵산 분해 물질 함량을 비교하고자 실시하였다. 시료로 한우육(거세우, 1등급) 및 호주산우육(Bos indicus, 100일 곡류 비육)의 등심(M. longissimus dorsi)과 우둔(M. semimembranosus)를 약 2 cm 두께로 절단하여 각각 세 그룹으로 나누고, $180^{\circ}C$ 오븐에서 심부온도가 각각 50, 70 및 $90^{\circ}C$가 되도록 가열하였다. Glucose 함량은 심부온도에 관계없이 한우육 스테이크가 호주산우육 스테이크에 비해 현저하게 높았다(P<0.05). 이와 반대로 lactate 함량은 한우육 스테이크가 호주산우육 스테이크보다 낮았다(P<0.05). 핵산 분해 물질 중 Hx 함량은 모든 심부온도에서 한우육 스테이크가 호주산우육 스테이크보다 낮았던 반면(P<0.05), GMP, IMP 및 inosine 함량은 한우육 스테이크가 높았다(P<0.05). 심부온도가 증가함에 따라 쇠고기 스테이크의 glucose 함량은 감소하는 경향을 보였으나, lactate 함량은 일정한 경향을 보이지 않았다. 또한 핵산 분해 물질 함량은 심부온도의 증가에 따라 유의적인 변화를 보이지 않았다. 따라서 가열 한우육 스테이크의 단맛 및 감칠맛 관련 풍미 전구물질 함량이 호주산우육 스테이크보다 높았다.

  • This research aims to evaluated the structure improvement and new product development of valve tester. A valve tester was redesigned for structure improvement and new product development using 3-D design program CATIA. In addition, behavior analysis was conducted on the modeled valve tester using the ANSYS program. The total deformation, stress and strain were obtained by the internal pressure change. This result was applied to the new product development of valve tester.
