내부혼합 동축 와류형 분사기를 장착한 액체로켓엔진용 축소형 연소기의 연소시험 (Combustion Tests of Sub-scale Combustor for a Liquid Rocket Engine with Internal Mixing Swirl Injector)

  • 액체로켓엔진용으로 내부혼합 동축 와류형 분사기를 장착한 축소형 연소기에 대한 설계 및 연소시험결과를 기술하였다. 추진제는 액체산소 및 케로신이며 연소기는 분사기 헤드, 삭마냉각방식의 연소실 그리고 물냉각 노즐부로 구성되어 있다. 분사기 헤드는 액체산소 매니폴드, 연료 매니폴드, 중앙 분사기 그리고 내부혼합 형태의 18개 분사기로 이루어졌다. 축소형 연소기 연소시험은 성공적으로 이루어졌으며, 분사기의 손상이 발생하지 않았고 연소특성속도는 설계점에서 1756 m/sec을 나타내었다. 고주파 연소불안정은 나타나지 않았지만 탈설계점에서 압력의 저주파 섭동이 기준치를 넘는 결과를 보여주었다.

CWM 단일액적의 연소특성에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Combustion Characteristics of CWM Single Droplet)

  • As the combustion process of CWM consists of the water evaporation, the release and combustion of volatile matter, and the combustion of char for every particle, it is more complex than that of existent liquid fuel. Though the many studies on CWM combustion have been carried out by the single droplet using hanging methods or the multiple droplet using atomization methods, any report don't presents definite solution about the effects by the initial water evaporation and combustion of volatile. When CWM is suddenly exposed in the high temperature surroundings, the internal water evaporates and then each droplet builds up pores. Besides, porosity rate changes along the temperature of surroundings, the composition ratio of CWM, and the initial diameter of droplet. In result, because it affects the whole combustion rate, the combustion of CWM has complex mechanism as compared with the combustion of liquid or gas fuel. Therefore, concentrating on porous structure of CWM, this study has proceeded to acquire the basic data on the CWM injection combustion and closely examines the effects of the first stage combustion on the whole combustion by measuring the diameter variations, pore rate, mass fraction burned, and the internal temperature changes of CWM droplet. The results demonstrate that $60{\sim}70%$ of initial mass is reduced during water evaporation and volatile combustion period, and swelling rate, mass faction burned, and density variation are greatly concerned with atomization of CWM etc.

KOHONEN NETWORK BASED FAULT DIAGNOSIS AND CONDITION MONITORING OF PRE-ENGAGED STARTER MOTORS

  • In this study, fault diagnosis and monitoring of serial wound pre-engaged starter motors have been carried out. Starter motors are DC motors that enable internal combustion engine (ICE) to run. In case of breakdown of a starter motor, internal combustion engine can not be worked. Starter motors have vital importance on internal combustion engines. Kohonen network based fault diagnosis system is proposed for fault diagnosis and monitoring of starter motors. A graphical user interface (GUI) software has been developed by using Visual Basic 6.0 for fault diagnosis. Six faults, seen in starter motors, have been diagnosed successfully by using the developed fault diagnosis system. GUI software makes it possible to diagnose the faults in starter motors before they occur by keeping fault records of past occurrences.

주행 상황에 따른 전기차와 내연기관차의 에너지 소비 비교 (Energy Consumption of the Electric Vehicle and Internal Combustion Engine Vehicle for Different Driving Cases)

  • In this paper, the electric vehicle (EV) and internal combustion engine vehicle (ICEV) are compared for different driving cases. The EV exhibits a lower powertrain efficiency when driven on the aggressive driving cycle than when driven on the moderate cycle. In particular, EV powertrain efficiency is low when the battery state of charge (SOC) is low, but ICEV efficiency increases when the driving cycle changes from the moderate cycle to the aggressive cycle. Based on these results, attempts can be made to increase EV powertrain efficiency. EV charging before the battery power drops to a low charging state can reduce energy consumption by 2.7% for an urban area. Furthermore, ECO driving has a more significant effect on EVs than on ICEVs.

  • Due to the rise in energy consumption and natural resource prices, the demand to improve energy efficiency in the construction machine has been highlighted. Even though many researchers have contributed to the development of the technology, CO2 gas emissions of heavy machinery remains high. One of the most significant problems of the novel excavator with internal combustion engines is the emission of harmful gas. To reduce emissions in the construction machine, it is necessary to replace the internal combustion engines with the alternative one. To overcome those problems, this paper focuses on the adoption of PEMFC hybrid engine for the excavator system. An internal combustion engine is replaced by new structures with fuel cell, battery and ultra capacitor. The proposed system has been designed and modeled using Simcenter Amesim software and compared with the conventional one through simulation results.

  • In this paper, the component loss models of the electric vehicle(EV) and the internal combustion engine vehicle(ICEV) are developed to analyze the losses and efficiencies of these two types of vehicles. The EV powertrain efficiency decreases as the vehicle velocity increases over most of the vehicle velocity range because the battery efficiency decreases. Especially, the EV powertrain efficiency decreases significantly when the battery SOC is low. But the ICEV powertrain efficiency increases as the vehicle velocity increases. This is because the efficiencies of both the transmission and engine increases.

  • In this paper an optimal method based on fuzzy logic for controlling parallel hybrid electric vehicles is presented. In parallel hybrid electric vehicles the required torque for deriving and operating the on-board accessories is generated by a combination of internal-combustion engine and an electric motor. The powersharing between the internal combustion engine and the electric motor is the key point for efficient driving. This is a highly nonlinear and time varying plant and its control strategy will be implemented with the use of fuzzy logic controller. The fuzzy logic controller will be designed based on the state of charge of batteries and the desired torque for driving. The output of controller controls the throttle of the combustion engine. The main contribution of this paper is the development of an optimal control based on fuzzy logic, which maximizes the output torque of the vehicle while minimizing fuel consumed by the combustion engine.

  • Spark plug ionization signal could be useful in an internal combustion engine as a feedback signal for combustion diagnostics such as misfire detection, knocking detection and lambda control, but the signal has high level of cyclic fluctuation in an internal combustion engine due to residual gas, pressure, temperature, mixture composition in the spark gap. Because of this reason it is very difficult to apply ion signal to commercial engine control. In this Study, a correlation between A/F and spark plug ionization signal was studied in a constant volume chamber. Constant volume chamber with gas phase fuel(Propane) has homogeneous fuel composition , no mixture flow, same pressure and temperature on each test. The results show that mean chemi-ion signal has the highest correlation with A/F and intial pressure change has on effect on the thermal-ion signal and not on chemi-ion signal.

다단 공기 공급 저 NOx 버너의 선회유동 및 연소특성에 관한 실험적 연구 - 다단공기공급에 의한 연소특성(I) - (A Study on Swirl Flow and Combustion Characteristics of Air Staged Low NOx Burner)

  • The objective of this research is to determine generally applicable design principles for the development of internally staged combustion devices. Utilizing a triple annulus combustor, the detailed combustion characteristics are studied. For this triple air staged combustor, the angular momentum weighted by it#s swirl number and air distribution ratio was observed to be the critical criteria of NOx emission. An internal recirculation zone which develops on the centerline of the flame immediately downstream of the burner entraps the fuel into a fuel rich eddy. Then sufficient heat must be transferred from the flame via radiation to the chamber heat transfer surfaces, such that the peak flame temperatures are suppressed when the second air is introduced. It is experimentally found out that the total NOx emission level in this type of burner is below 50ppm(3% Ref. O2) at optimum operating conditions.
