  • Objectives : The objective is that we measure and analyze Pulse-Respiration Ratio and Body Composition Analysis to study the correlation between both. Methods : First, after subjects take a rest over 10 minutes, we measure their electrocardiogram and respiration pattern through which we take average peak interval to calculate an average pulse cycle and a respiration cycle. An average respiration cycle divided by an average Pulse Rate gives Pulse-Respiration Ratio. Next, we draw out 22 Body Composition Analysis indicators by using In-Body 720 model. Last, we analyze and take statistics on them by using SPSS 13.0 program. Results : Negative is the correlation between P/R Ratio and Body Composition Analysis indicator like fatness degree, body fat volume, body fat rate, abdominal fatness, BMI. Conclusions : 1. The higher P/R Ratio the more likely to be thin, the lower P/R Ratio the more likely to be fat. 2. We separately analyze P/R Ratio depending on each breathing frequency and pulse frequency to find out that breathing frequency has great influence and that breathing frequency decides the fatness degree. 3. In study on the correlation between P/R Ratio and Body Composition Analysis, fatness degree, in-body fat volume, in-body fat rate, BMI are the related indicators, which shows the connection with the fatness indicators. 4. In study on the correlation between Han-Yeol [寒熱] grade and Body Composition Analysis indicators, the result is that Han[寒] has no connection and that only Yeol[熱] grade has something to do with it, which means the higher heat symptom subjects have, the more basic metabolism volume and muscular build they have.

  • As the proportion of non-contact telemedicine increases and the number of electrocardiogram (ECG) data measured using portable ECG monitors increases, the demand for automatic algorithms that can precisely analyze vast amounts of ECG is increasing. Since the P, QRS, and T waves of the ECG have different shapes depending on the location of electrodes or individual characteristics and often have similar frequency components or amplitudes, it is difficult to distinguish P, QRS and T waves and measure each parameter. In order to measure the widths, intervals and areas of P, QRS, and T waves, a new algorithm that recognizes the start and end points of each wave and automatically measures the time differences and amplitudes between each point is required. In this study, the start and end points of the P, QRS, and T waves were measured using six Deep Neural Networks (DNN) that recognize the start and end points of each wave. Then, by synthesizing the results of all DNNs, 12 parameters for ECG characteristics for each heartbeat were obtained. In the ECG waveform of 10 subjects provided by Physionet, 12 parameters were measured for each of 660 heartbeats, and the 12 parameters measured for each heartbeat well represented the characteristics of the ECG, so it was possible to distinguish them from other subjects' parameters. When the ECG data of 10 subjects were combined into one file and analyzed with the suggested algorithm, 10 types of ECG waveform were observed, and two types of ECG waveform were simultaneously observed in 5 subjects, however, it was not observed that one person had more than two types.

  • The various and serious types of disaster occur everyday and everywhere on the earth. There is no doubt that it is very timely to discuss about the effectiveness and preparedness of disaster. The purpose of this study is to develop a curriculum on the disaster management through reviewing disaster concepts and the disaster management system. For the empirical relevance of the study, researchers participated in a couple or more disaster training program, reviewed references, and consulted to the experts working on action parts in the area. As a result, the 'Integrated Disaster Management System Model (IDMSM)' was designed, in which four dimensions were explained. Then the 'Disaster Curriculum Model (DCM)' was explored with its theoretical framework based on the system model. The developed curriculum is composed of four levels ; the introductory course, the fundamental course, the advanced course, and the expert course. From this DCM, basically the course-outlines of two subjects in the introductory course, 18 subjects in the fundamental course (5 of direct services. 13 of indirect services) were developed. Also each course-outline was explored by its course objective, learning objectives, contents, and its length. Finally to make the most of the results, suggestions are proposed. The governmental considerations on the policy should support the systematic and integrated educational program to practice, appointing 「Disaster School」 or 「Disaster Training Center」 of relevance and accountabilities. The further study should explore the higher levels of the DCM through interdisciplinary efforts, and develop the text aterials. ilities. The further study should explore the higher levels of the DCM through interdisciplinary efforts, and develop the text materials.

  • The objective of this research is to develop an automatic algorithm based on electrocardiogram (ECG) to estimate slow-wave sleep (SWS). An algorithm is based on 7 indices extracted from heart rate on ECG which simultaneously recorded with standard full night polysomnography from 31 subjects. Those 7 indices were then applied to independent component analysis to extract a feature that discriminates SWS and other sleep stages. Overall Cohen's kappa, accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of the algorithm to detect 30s epochs of SWS were 0.52, 0.87, 0.70 and 0.90, respectively. The automatic SWS detection algorithm could be useful combining with existing REM and wake estimation technique on unattended home-based sleep monitoring.

  • Background and Purpose: We have studied the trends of EEG signals in the voluntary breathing condition by applying the fractal analysis. According to chaos theory, irregularity of EEG signals can result from low dimensional deterministic chaos. A principal parameter to quantify the degree of Chaotic nonlinear dynamics is correlation dimension. The aim of this study was to analyze correlation between the correlation dimension of EEG and HRV(heart rate variability). We have studied the trends of EEG signals in the voluntary breathing condition by applying the fractal analysis. Methods: EEG raw data were measured by moving windows during 15 minutes. Then, the correlation dimension(D2) was calculated by each 40-seconds-segment in 15 minutes data, totally 36 segments. 8 channels EEG study on the Fp, F, T, P was carried out in 30 subjects. Results and Conclusion: Correlation analysis of HRV was calculated with deterministic non-linear data and stochastic non-linear data. 1. Ch1(Fp1), Ch4(F3), Ch4(F4) is positive correlated with In LF. 2. Ch1(Fp1), Ch3(F3) is positive correlated with In TF.

  • The baroreflex is one kind of homeostatic mechanisms to regulate acute blood pressure (BP) changes by controlling heartbeat interval (HBI). To quantify the effect of baroreflex, we suggested a new approach of analyzing Granger causality between systolic BP (SBP) and HBI. The index defined as baroreflex effectiveness (BRE) was generated by the hypothesis that more effectual baroreflex would be related to more effective Granger causal influence of SBP on HBI. Six obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients (apnea-hypopnea index, AHI ${\geq}5$ events/hr) and six normal subjects participated in the study. Their SBP and HBI during nocturnal sleep were obtained from a non-invasive continuous BP measurement device. While the BRE ($mean{\pm}SD$) of normal subjects was $47.0{\pm}4.0%$, OSA patients exhibited the BRE of $34.0{\pm}3.8%$. The impaired baroreflex function of OSA patients can be explained by the physiological mechanism associated with recurrent hypoxic episodes during sleep. Thus, the significantly lower BRE in OSA patients verified the availability of Granger causality analysis to evaluate baroreflex during sleep. Furthermore, the range of BRE obtained from normal subjects was not overlapped with that obtained from OSA patients. It suggests the potential of BRE as a new helpful tool for diagnosing OSA.
