  • In this paper, a dense cellular network is considered in which each base station equipped with multiple antennas simultaneously communicates with multiple single-antenna users. Based on limited feedback, each user feeds back its quantized channel state information (CSI) to its associated transmitter, and the transmitter broadcasts multiple data streams prepared for the scheduled users using a space-division multiple access scheme. As the amount of CSI is limited at the transmitter, the downlink throughput increases with the number feedback bits. However, the increased number of feedback bits requires the correspondingly increased amount of uplink resources. Thus, an appropriate balance between the downlink throughput and the uplink resource usage should be considered in realistic systems. A net spectral efficiency defined in this context is used in this paper, and the optimal number of feedback bits that maximizes the net spectral efficiency is analyzed. This paper particularly focuses on the case when the received signal power is much smaller than the noise power.

  • In counterfire warfare, it is important to detect and attack enemy targets faster than the enemy using sensing The grided environmental data is usually provided by the numerical simulation coupled with a data assimilation technique and various inter- or extrapolation algorithms, both of which are based on the observation spanning from simple equipments to satellites. In order to employ the gridded environmental data in the M&S system frequently cutting area and changing its resolution, interpolation algorithms such as linear, cubic spline, IDW, and Kriging methods are necessary to apply. These methods, however, require much time in the M&S system. This paper introduces a technic to reduce time to change the resolution of data. using the binary search method, which finds a point to interpolate quickly and interpolate data in the vicinity of. We also show the efficiency of proposed methods by way of measuring the respective elapsed times.

  • Efficient video data storage and search techniques are essential for DVR-based security systems. We have designed appropriate data structures and search techniques for efficient image storage and search, in this study. The date and time can be saved and searched as a folder form. The overall system is designed for MPEG4 CODEC. It can handle variable sizes of frames (100bytes $^{\sim}$ 6Kbytes) produced by MPEG4 CODEC without errors. We also have developed image transmission techniques through inter-net networking.

  • The gridded environmental data is usually provided by the numerical simulation coupled with a data assimilation technique and various inter- or extrapolation algorithms, both of which are based on the observation spanning from simple equipments to satellites. But it is difficult to represent the natural phenomenon such as sea mount, internal-wave, warm eddy in modeling or observation because of increase in the complexity of model. This paper introduces the algorithm artificially representing the natural phenomenon and the techniques applying it to the gridded volume data and smoothing for natural effects. Moreover, the inserted results are analyzed by use of graphical tool. The results can be used for the battle simulation or acoustic model.

  • The present study explored parenting behaviors of fathers associated with 3 types of aggression in their sons and identified inter-generational pathways of aggression. Subjects were 160 Korean elementary school(5-6th grade) boys and their fathers. Data were gathered via questionnaires. Results were that fathers' use of power assertive control and lack of open communication were positively associated with sons' use of both relational and proactive aggression. Fathers' encouragement of aggressive behavior was associated with sons' reactive aggression. Finally, fathers' aggression was net directly associated with sons' aggression, but was fully mediated by parenting. Results were discussed in terms of implications for the Korean cultural context.

  • Inter-operability between heterogeneous radio access technologies (RATs), in the sense of seamless vertical han-dover (VHO) support with common radio resource management (CRRM) functionalities, has recently attracted a significant research attention and has become a prominent issue in standardization fora. In this paper, we formulate the problem of load balancing between cooperative RAT's as a mathematical program and by trading off a pre-defined delay tolerance per request we propose a vertical handover batch processing (VHBP) scheme. To quantify the performance of the proposed VHBP scheme we compare it with a baseline processing scheme, where each VHO request is processed independently under a number of different network scenarios. Numerical investigations reveal significant net benefits of the proposed scheme compared with the baseline, both in terms of achieved load balancing levels but also with regard to the acceptance rate of the VHO requests.

  • Despite extensive research efforts, the mechanism of the nucleate boiling phenomena is still not clear. A direct numerical simulation of the boiling phenomena is one of the promising approaches in order to clarify its heat transfer characteristics and discuss their mechanism. Therefore, many DNS procedures have been developed based on recent highly advancing computer technologies. This brief review focuses on the state of the art in direct numerical simulation of the pool boiling phenomena over the past two decades. In this review, the fundamentals of the boiling phenomena and the bubble departure and micro-layer models are briefly introduced, and then the numerical procedures for tracking or capturing interface/surface shape such as the front tracking method, level set method, volume of fluid treatments, and other methods (Lattice Boltzmann method, phase-field method and so on) are briefly reviewed.

  • In this paper, we propose a DRM(Digital Rights Management) system for streaming media which can not only protect streamed MPEG-4 content but be easily integrated with existing MPEG-4 streaming system. To protect MPEG-4 media more effectively and more securely, encryption should be considered on encoding phase and also streaming server should be designed to support DRM. However that means it cannot support existing streaming system. Our approach is to design a DRM system independent to the streaming server. So, we used an encryption method which can be applied to compressed MPEG-4. The processing time of decryption in client system must be minimized to guarantee the QoS of streaming service. To satisfy this requirement, it is essential to analyze the effect of DRM on performance. We made some performance test and present the result. Also, we apply proposed system to ISMA(The Inter net Streaming Media Alliance) streaming system which is open standard for MPEG-4 media streaming.

  • The fifth generation (5G) mobile communication technology is designed to meet all communication needs. Heterogeneous networks (HetNets) are a new emerging network structure. HetNets have greater potential for radio resource reuse and better service quality than homogeneous networks since they can evolve small cells into macrocells. Effective resource allocation techniques reduce inter-user interference while optimizing the utilization of limited spectrum resources in HetNets. This article discusses resource allocation in 5G HetNets. This paper explains HetNets and how they work. Typical cell types in HetNets are summarized. Also, HetNets models are explained in the third section. The fourth component addresses radio resource control and mobility management. Moreover, future study in this subject may benefit from this article's significant insights on how HetNets function.

  • Core-wide temperature distribution in sodium-cooled fast reactor plays a key role in its decay heat removal process, however the prediction for temperature distribution is quite complex due to the conjugate heat transfer between the assembly flow and the inter-wrapper flow. Hybrid medium model has been proposed for conjugate heat transfer modeling in the core. The core is modeled with a Realistic modeled inter-wrapper flow and hybrid medium modeled assembly flow. To validate present model, simulations for a three-assembly model were performed with Realistic modeling, traditional porous medium model and hybrid medium model, respectively. The influences of Uniform/Non-Uniform power distribution among assemblies and the Peclet number within the assembly flow have been considered. Compared to traditional porous medium model, present model shows a better agreement with in Realistic modeling prediction of the temperature distribution and the radial heat transfer between the inter-wrapper flow and the assembly flow.
