This study examined effects of the social-psychological motivations to use Instagram (i.e., identity seeking, social interaction) and narcissistic personality on personal attachment to Instagram and intention to post photos on Instagram. Identity seeking, social interaction and narcissistic personality (i.e., grandiose/exhibition) had significant positive effects on personal attachment to Instagram. Identity seeking and social interaction had significant positive effects on intention to post photos on Instagram. However, narcissistic personality had no effect on the intention to post photos on Instagram. The study results support the theory of the extended-self in the digital context. This study also provides useful information to help organizations understand why people use Instagram as well as how to take advantage of Instagram to enhance their services and consumer experiences.
Instagram, a photo and image centered social networking service, has received increasing attention these days, from scholars and practitioners. However, little is known about the social and psychological factors that lead consumers to use this service. To provide a baseline understanding on Instagram users, the current study was conducted to discover perfectionistic self-presentation tendency expressed by the Instagram users and explore the relationships between identified perfectionistic self-presentation and intention to use Instagram variables with 250 participants. In addition, this study tried to determine the moderator effect of self-efficacy and self-construal. A comprehensive survey was directed and a total of 380 participants were recruited to verify anticipated hypotheses and research questions. The research results suggest that perfectionistic self-presentation has five sub factors: others conscious self-presentation, subjective self-presentation, environmental adaptation self-presentation, self-expansion self-presentation, and social self-presentation. The implications of this research findings are discussed.
'Instagrammable' is a new term which means a photo or a series of pictures are worth posting on Instagram. Since Instagram is an image-oriented social media platform, it is important to give users proper awareness through images in order to be an instagrammable post. In this study, we explored the proper delivery method of messages within instagrammable posts through the use of hashtags(#). Specifically, we paid attention to the use of 'Card News', which involves a series of images that form a short narrative. Hashtags play an important role that they often describe sharing intention of the post, and we found analyzing the use of hashtags in Card News posts is a good indicator of users' Instagram activities. Currently, there are more than 580k posts are found with the search keyword Card News, and the number is increasing. In this study, we collected and analyzed more than 50k hashtags on Instagram to explore how news stories are posted from both the general users and news media accounts. Furthermore, we conducted interviews with journalists to analyze how news media are making use of Instagram as a legitimate place to share news stories with impact.

In this study, based on the theory of use and satisfaction, the motives of consumers who use Instagram accounts for luxury fashion brands were classified and the effect of the flow state experienced according to the motives on the purchase intention and the enjoyment was empirically studied. As a result of the analysis, the conclusions obtained through this study can be summarized as follows. First, it was found that the motive for using Instagram, a luxury fashion brand, had a significant positive effect on flow, followed by social interaction motive, informational motive, and enjoyment motive. Among the motivations for use, it was confirmed that the motivation for social interaction had the greatest influence on flow. Second, when using the luxury fashion brand Instagram account, the state of consumer flow induces positive emotions such as pleasure, which has a positive effect on purchase intention. Third, age, which is a characteristic of luxury fashion brand Instagram account users, had a significant positive moderating effect on the relationship between informational motives and flow, and had a significant negative effect with playful motives. Through the results of this study, we contributed to the flow of previous related studies by empirically showing the dynamics of consumer psychology related to the use of luxury Instagram accounts.

The results of empirical analysis of 251 Instagram users are as follows. First, the archive, self-expression, and social relations of Instagram have a positive effect on the usefulness. Second, Instagram's self-expression, social relationship and playfulness were found to have a positive effect on favorable attitude. Lastly, the user's perceived usefulness on Instagram has a positive effect on the favorable attitude, and both the usefulness and favorable attitude have a positive effect on the to photo sharing intention. Based on the results of this study, strategic implications were drawn to enable the spread of services through the positive recognition and the improvement of photo sharing intention of Instagram users.
Social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook lead to potential security risks, which consequently raise public concerns about privacy. However, most people rarely make active efforts to protect their personal data, even though they have shown increasing concerns about privacy. Therefore, this study examines the factors that determine social media users' behavior of using privacy settings and testifies the existence of privacy paradox in such a context. In addition, it investigates the mediating effects of implementation intentions on the relationship between intentions and behaviors. In the study, we collected data through questionnaires, and the respondents were undergraduate and graduate students in South Korea. After a pilot test (n = 92) and a set of face-to-face interviews, 266 usable responses were retrieved for data analysis finally. The results confirmed the existence of the privacy paradox regarding the use of social media privacy settings. And the implication intention did positively mediate the relationship between intention and behavior in the context of social media privacy settings. To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first in the information privacy literature to introduce the notion of implementation intention which is a much more powerful explanation and prediction of actual behavior than the (behavioral) intention.
This study is about classical music lovers who write a lengthy concert review on instagram. The intention and objective of writing a review is discussed in addition to inter-communication between those reviewers. For the analysis, an interview with 8 reviewers are mainly analyzed with their reviews. As a result, it is found that some affordances of Instagram, easiness, randomness, and friendliness affects them to use Instagram more than other social media. Hence, since Instagram is image-based platform, it helps writers to keep their reviews from getting an attention by other users. Because of their sense of inferiority that they are lacking in classical music knowledge, continuous writing and reading of reviews help them accumulating some amount of cultural capital needed for understanding classical music in a proper way.

Social networking is gaining speed and has grown indispensable as technology develops. As a result, social media, particularly Facebook, Instagram, and influencer marketing, are replacing conventional marketing trends. The top 15 search terms for Mongolian women between the ages of 18 and 34 in 2019 on Facebook were cosmetics and shopping. Companies use social media, the main tool of social media, to promote their products while simultaneously increasing productivity at a minimal cost. In Mongolia, finding out about cosmetic brand products on social media is rather usual. The impact of social media influencers on the purchasing of cosmetic brands must thus be researched. We aimed to find out the relationship between attractiveness, authenticity, communication ability, and influence, which are characteristics of beauty influencers, on product purchase intention and identification between consumers and followers (information acceptance, purchase intention). Communication ability and influence appeared to have a statistically significant positive (+) effect on identification. On the other hand, attractiveness, communication ability, and influence all showed a statistically significant positive (+) effect on information acceptance. Identification and information acceptance has s significant positive effect on purchase intention.

We have been developed the smart tourism app and the Instagram and YouTube contents to provide personalized tourism information and travel product information to individual tourists. In this paper, we develop a rule-based smart tourism chatbot with the khaiii (Kakao Hangul Analyzer III) morphological analyzer and Neo4J graph database. In the proposed chatbot system, we use a morpheme analyzer, a proper noun dictionary including tourist destination names, and a general noun dictionary including containing frequently used words in tourist information search to understand the intention of the user's question. The tourism knowledge base built using the Neo4J graph database provides adequate answers to tourists' questions. In this paper, the nodes of Neo4J are Area based on tourist destination address, Contents with property of tourist information, and Service including service attribute data frequently used for search. A Neo4J query is created based on the result of analyzing the intention of a tourist's question with the property of nodes and relationships in Neo4J database. An answer to the question is made by searching in the tourism knowledge base. In this paper, we create the tourism knowledge base using more than 1300 Jeju tourism information used in the smart tourism app. We plan to develop a multilingual smart tour chatbot using the named entity recognition (NER), intention classification using conditional random field(CRF), and transfer learning using the pretrained language models.
