A Survey Study on the Development Model of Intelligent University Facilities (인텔리전트 대학시설 모형개발을 위한 실태조사 연구)

  • Nowadays, social environment is rapidly changed toward globalization and information age, and which demands the new paradigm for active utilization of information system in the field of education and many others. The effort to adapt tele-communication technique to educational facilities and the planning to make virtual university come true are needed immediately. Intelligent Building system should be applied to educational facilities to cope with the changing and progressing building system. As a result of the surveying eleven domestic universities, it was found that library management system, administration automation system and office automation system were already introduced, but campus infrastructure such as network system and tele-communication system between buildings in campus have been constructed now. As the conclusion of this study, impeding factors and improvement direction for active utilization of intelligent building systems in university facilities were presented.

  • There are many economic and operational reasons to integrate fire alarm signaling system with other building automation system. Integration of this requires communication standard and careful design practices. The important point for this is also the development of intelligent control modules for replacing the conventional zone adapter in fire system. Therefore, this paper proposes an new conceptual design of the distributed fire alarm signaling system and a new intelligent control modules with LonTalk Protocol.   • Recently, IT industry by digital technique is improved gradually. Therefore many electronic appliance became the digital, and this is magnified gradually. The development of embedded home automation system combined embedded and internet technique is taking many interest. Specially in the times of the ubiquitous, excellent economically home automation system is preferred even in general family. Therefore, in this paper, we escape from monotonic control of home automation and draw a plan intelligent home automation to be developed.

  • In this paper, problems and solutions are proposed for applying IEC 61850 to Distribution Automation System(DAS). Communication protocol integration in power automation system have issued by IEC standards, IEC 61850 of them has researched for applying IEC 61850 to many areas of power system in spite of that it was made for substation automation system. Especially, DAS is just about to apply IEC 61850 by communication network change from serial to ethernet although DNP 3.0 is used. But it's impossible to apply directly IEC 61850 to DAS by difference of environment which unfixed wide area and separated nodes in power distribution system unlike concept of IEC 61850 is made by Substation Automation System(SAS) environment of limited space. Thus, this paper proposed applications of three types which conceptual, practical, and future to consider problems and solutions when apply IEC 61850 to Ethernet based DAS.

  • The mobiAutoBot is a conceptual model of robotic process automation software with cognitive automation that can support mobile devices. The mobiAutoBot consists of two parts: mobiAutoBot controller and mobiAutoBot runner. The mobiAutoBot controller directs the job to the mobile device and performs monitoring and interworking. The mobiAutoBot runner installed on the mobile device performs the command execution. With the mobiAutoBot, you can build cost-effective robotic process automation capabilities and use it in a variety of applications, including mobile devices.

  • Recently, one of the solutions for the problems of construction industry such as low productivity, lack of experts, insufficiency of manpower, high percentage of calamity and so forth, construction automation which let underdeveloped construction production system be a ultramodern technology is under research. Internal study of construction automation has been initiated since 1980s focusing on robotics and semi-automation for reduction of labor. Therefore development of construction robots is being concentrated with the high development of information technology and Intelligent Excavating System(IES) project had been launched by ministry of land, transportation, and maritime affairs as one way of construction technology revolution business. This study introduces the final goal and the research progress until second year of IES.

Library automation and its impact on library (도서관자동화와 자동화에 의한 영향)

  • This paper consists of three chapters. Changes and objectives of library automation are discussed in chapter 1 and 2 respectively. The dominant trends in library automation which begun in 1960's can be described ; the 1960's was dominated by primitive local systems and the 1970's by online networks. And in the 1980's, there is a return to local system but with various options to networks. The major objectives of library automation are to improve speed of technical process, to get economic efficiency, and to provide better services. But the library planning automation should take account of experiences of the others that those objectives are not easily achieved. The impact of automation on a library is discussed in chapter 3. First, emphasis of libraries shifts from a collection orientation to an access orientation. Computer allowed to access not only to materials of their own library but also to those of others. Second, libraries should reconsider all their activities and services. Those must be reorganized by several principles such as rationalization, intelligent use of automation, and maximizing of human self-fulfillment. Third, change on organizational structure is anticipated. Flat organization in stead of existing hierarchy will provide rapid communication for problem - solving and intensify professionalism. Machine with proper capabilities and well programed software are prerequisites for library automation. But beyond these prerequisites, human factor should be stressed as well as mechanical factor. Therefore, understanding of changes due to automation, aggressive acceptance of trend, and su n.0, pport of organization are required in order to get successful results.

Intelligent Steering Control System Based on Voice Instructions

  • The important field of research in ship operation is related to the high efficiency of transportation, the convenience of maneuvering ships and the safety of navigation. For these purposes, many intelligent technologies for ship automation have been required and studied. In this paper, we propose an intelligent voice instruction-based learning (VIBL) method and discuss the building of a ship's steering control system based on this method. The VIBL system concretely consists of two functions: a text conversion function where an instructor's inputted voice is recognized and converted to text, and a linguistic instruction based learning function where the text instruction is understood through a searching process of given meaning elements. As a study method, the fuzzy theory is adopted to build maneuvering models of steersmen and then the existing LIBL is improved and combined with the voice recognition technology to propose the VIBL. The ship steering control system combined with VIBL is tested in a ship maneuvering simulator and its validity is shown.
