  • System integration is an important element for the construction of naval combat ships. In particular, because impeccable combat system integration together with the sensors and weapons can ensure the combat capability and survivability of the ship, the integrated performance of the combat system should be verified and validated whether or not it fulfills the requirements of the end user. In order to conduct systematic verification and validation, a data analysis tool is requisite. This paper suggests the Data Extraction, Recording and Analysis Tool (DERAT) for the data analysis of the integrated performance of the combat system, including the functional definition, architecture and effectiveness of the DERAT by presenting the test results.

  • Business mergers are a direct result of rapid changes in the current corporate environment. They are occurring in many industries, including financial institutions. As information systems prove increasingly indispensable in the integration of companies’ business systems, information system integration is becoming increasingly necessary. However, in many cases such integration does not work well. Therefore, this paper proposes a new framework using both IS integration model and IS integration phases to analyze systems failure in IS integration.

  • The purpose of this paper is to provide an understanding of building systems and to propose methods of building system analysis and integration. Building components are classified into four major systems; structure, mechanical, envelope, and interior system. There are 11 combinations between major systems. Three integration modes(physical, visual, and functional integration) and 12 integration strategies are proposed. A case study of Richards Medical Research Buildings designed by Louis I. Kahn was conducted from the perspective of building system analysis and integration.

  • Shanghai Tower is a composite structure building with a height of 632 m. In order to verify the structural properties and behaviors in construction and operation, a structural health monitoring project was conducted by Tongji University. The monitoring system includes sensor system, data acquisition system and a monitoring software system. Focusing on the health monitoring in construction, this paper introduced the monitoring parameters in construction, the data acquisition strategy and an integration structural health monitoring (SHM) software. The integration software - Structural Monitoring/ Analysis/ Evaluation System (SMAE) is designed based on integration and modular design idea, which includes on-line data acquisition, finite elements and dynamic property analysis functions. With the integration and modular design idea, this SHM system can realize the data exchange and results comparison from on-site monitoring and FEM effectively. The analysis of the monitoring data collected during the process of construction shows that the system works stably, realize data acquirement and analysis effectively, and also provides measured basis for understanding the structural state of the construction. Meanwhile, references are provided for the future automates construction monitoring and implementation of high-rise building structures.

  • An interface or integration among various information system is needed to construct knowledge management infrastructure. Particularly, digital library and knowledge management system have to be implemented in the view of integration for activating interaction of organizational knowledge. So this study conducts comparative analysis between two systems in the perspective of knowledge management key factors, and then explores the ways toward an integration model. The integration model is designed for activating user interface and consistent flow of knowledge. This model is expected to contribute to increase the performance of knowledge management.

  • Amount of biological data information has been increasing exponentially. In order to cope with this bio-information explosion, it is necessary to construct a biological data information integration system. The integration system could provide useful services for bio-application developers by answering general complex queries that require accessing information from heterogeneous bio data sources, and easily accommodate a new database into the integrated systems. In this paper, we analyze architectures and mechanisms of existing integration systems with their advantages and disadvantages. Based on this analysis and user requirement studies, we propose an integration system framework that embraces advantages of the existing systems. More specifically, we propose an integration system architecture composed of a mediator and wrappers, which can offer a service interface layer for various other applications as well as independent biologists, thus playing the role of database management system for biology applications. In other words, the system can help abstract the heterogeneous information structures and formats from the application layer. In the system, the wrappers send database-specific queries and report the result to the mediator using XML. The proposed system could facilitate in silico knowledge discovery by allowing combination of numerous discrete biological information databases.

  • Systems are often operated by not integration but blocking, i.e., non-standardization. The system blocking is mainly caused by non-standardization or incompatibility. The integrated system is effective, but researches for quantification of effectiveness from Integrating system are few. System blocking causes additional cost which is almost intangible and potential. In this paper we proposed a model to quantify the effectiveness of system integration. To verify the validity of proposed model, we applied the model for Korean information and communication industry and forecasted the cost of integration for South and North Korean telecommunication industry in the way of three scenarios.
