  • Modem drug discovery requires rapid pharmacokinetic evaluation of chemically diverse compounds for early candidate selection. This demands the development of analytical methods that offer high-throughput of samples. Naturally, liquid chromatography / tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) is choice of the analytical method because of its superior sensitivity and selectivity. As a result of the short analysis time(typically 3-5min) by LC-MS/MS, sample preparation has become the rate- determining step in the whole analytical cycle. Consequently tremendous efforts are being made to speed up and automate this step. In a typical automated 96-well SPE(solid-phase extraction) procedure, plasma samples are transferred to the 96-well SPE plate, internal standard and aqueous buffer solutions are added and then vacuum is applied using the robotic liquid handling system. It takes only 20-90 min to process 96 samples by automated SPE and the analyst is physically occupied for only approximately 10 min. Recently, the ultra-high flow rate liquid chromatography (turbulent-flow chromatography)has sparked a huge interest for rapid and direct quantitation of drugs in plasma. There is no sample preparation except for sample aliquotting, internal standard addition and centrifugation. This type of analysis is achieved by using a small diameter column with a large particle size(30-5O ${\mu}$m) and a high flow rate, typically between 3-5 ml/min. Silica-based monolithic HPLC columns contain a novel chromatographic support in which the traditional particulate packing has been replaced with a single, continuous network (monolith) of pcrous silica. The main advantage of such a network is decreased backpressure due to macropores (2 ${\mu}$m) throughout the network. This allows high flow rates, and hence fast analyses that are unattainable with traditional particulate columns. The reduction of particle diameter in HPLC results in increased column efficiency. use of small particles (<2 urn), however, requires p.essu.es beyond the traditional 6,000 psi of conventional pumping devices. Instrumental development in recent years has resulted in pumping devices capable of handling the requirements of columns packed with small particles. The staggered parallel HPLC system consists of four fully independent binary HPLC pumps, a modified auto sampler, and a series of switching and selector valves all controlled by a single computer program. The system improves sample throughput without sacrificing chromatographic separation or data quality. Sample throughput can be increased nearly four-fold without requiring significant changes in current analytical procedures. The process of Bioanalytical Method Validation is required by the FDA to assess and verify the performance of a chronlatographic method prior to its application in sample analysis. The validation should address the selectivity, linearity, accuracy, precision and stability of the method. This presentation will provide all overview of the work required to accomplish a full validation and show how a chromatographic method is suitable for toxirokinetic sample analysis. A liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method developed to quantitate drug levels in dog plasma will be used as an example of tile process.

  • We conduct BVRI and R band photometric observations of asteroid (5247) Krylov from January 2016 to April 2016 for 51 nights using the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet). The color indices of (5247) Krylov at the light curve maxima are determined as $B-V=0.841{\pm}0.035$, $V-R=0.418{\pm}0.031$, and $V-I=0.871{\pm}0.031$ where the phase angle is $14.1^{\circ}$. They are acquired after the standardization of BVRI instrumental measurements using the ensemble normalization technique. Based on the color indices, (5247) Krylov is classified as a S-type asteroid. Double periods, that is, a primary period $P_1=82.188{\pm}0.013h$ and a secondary period $P_2=67.13{\pm}0.20h$ are identified from period searches of its R band light curve. The light curve phases with $P_1$ and this indicate that it is a typical Non-Principal Axis (NPA) asteroid. We discuss the possible causes of its NPA rotation.

  • The seismicity of the Korean Peninsula and its vicinity is investigated temporally (2 A. D. to 1978) and spatially to evaluate the seismic risk and to understand the neotectonics around the peninsula. The study has been conducted using macrocosmic data obtained from historical literature, and instrumental records recorded by the Worldwide Network of Standardized Seismographs(WWNSS). The seismicity of the peninsula was active from the 13th through the 17th centuries. A seismic quiescence began at the onset of the 18th century, and has continued for the last 200 years. Presently, the seismicity region is found to be active again. The return periods are determined by a statistical method based upon the cumulative magnitude recurrence. They indicate that the seismic risk is greater in the south or west than in the north or east of the peninsula. Focal mechanism solutions demonstrate that the neotectonic stress distribution in the Japan Sea is greatly influenced by the subduction of the Pacific Plate under the Eurasian Plate or the Philippine Sea Plate, even though the predominate local paleotectonics is controlled by the spreading of the earth's crut.

  • Controversies over NEIS(Network of Education Information System) began with very deep concern about infringement of human rights stemming from NEIS. A large information system which accumulates and uses huge size of individual information is always able to deeply infringe on human rights. But the ministry of education would not do the best not to be 'Big Brother' being dazzled by instrumental efficiency of information technology. NEIS has demonstrated problems of the information policy of Korea strongly driven in the name of 'E-goverment'. It has very strong characteristic of the statist economic growth policy focusing on more economic possibility than other. In this situation, making money is easily considered more important than protecting human rights. Information capitalism is nurtured at the sacrifice of human rights. So, we have to face problems of 'E-goverment' in order to correct the NEIS problem, The most important task to correct the NEIS problem is to make an element law protecting privacy and to establish an independent national institute protecting privacy

  • The present study was initially designed to figure out the general condition of care giving system for the elderly women who need long term care and the level of their depression according to the conditions of care. And This research is intented to present appropriate policy that could help the establishment of supporting system for the fragile elderly women.1 used the data from <2001 National Study on the Needs for the Long-Term Care Elderly> by Korea Health and Population Institute. The results are as follows: First, Two third of all the respondents had serious problems (2-9 activities limits) in Instrumental Daily Living Ability(DAL). Most respondents reported “low” in satisfaction level related to receiving care, meaning the elderly had negative perception for the care from the family. The elderly expected their children to be as the primary care giver and mostly wanted to live with them in the future. Second, The majority of the long term care elderly women haven't used community service facilities very often and said they are not likely going to use the facilities in the future. Third, The respondents reported high in depression level as to lower satisfaction with their children's support, poorer health condition, more reluctant to use service facilities due to the cost, and fewer friends and neighbors resources around them. Therefore I could say that negative factors for the elderly women's psychological health were having unsatisfactory relationship with intimate people, developing physical illness, being in economic difficulties. That is, receiving less help from close family members, shrinking social network, and experiencing economic hardship would have negative effects on elderly women's psychological health. In the basis of these results, I suggest that in the mean time we shouldn't overlook the importance of the private support when we develop the public elderly support system.

The christian were 34.8%, those who graduated university 47.1%, and those who had a job 32.9%. 2. Of the demented elderly, female were 74.3%, 80 years old were 37.1%, and their average age was seventy-seven point one years old. 66.2% of the elderly has been lived alone and the christian were 27.5%. In addition, those who graduated elementary school were 66.5%. 3. Of the behavior problem for the demented elderly, Activities of the Daily Living(ADL) was the most severe problem. The 2nd was cognitive function problem, the 3th, change of personality, the 4th, emotional disturbance, and the last, misconduct behavior. 4. For the status of behavior problems, females were more severe than male, and 80th years elderly ware the most severe groups. The longer disease period was, the severe problematic behaviors were, and in 4-6 years of the disease period the status was the highest(p<0.05). Those who diagnosed the disease had more severe problems(p<0.001). 5. The orders of the stress among family members caring for the demented elderly in this study were as follows : 1. The deficiency of supporting network 2. Decrease of elderly's cognitive activities 3. Assistance of BADL(Basic Activities of Daily Living) 6. Elderly's abnormal behavior 5. Assistance of IADL(Instrumental Activities of Daily Living), 6. As for the status of the stress among family members, female respondants were higher than male. On the ages, 20th years' stress score were the highest. Daughters-in-law were stressed more than other family members. The longer the time of caring per day was, the highest the status of the stress(p<0.05), 7. Those who caring for female elderly and more than 80 years had more stressed. When the elderly was received the diagnosis, the family members were more stressed. On the disease period, 1-2 years was the highest and after 2 years the status of the stress was decreased and more than 6 years was the lowest(p<0.05). 8. Behavior problems of the demented elderly were closely associated to the stress for family members. Of the problems, change of personality was the most related factor(r = 0.6552). The factors of Basic Activities of the Daily Living(BADL) was most correlated on assistance of Basic Activities of Daily Living (BADL), emotional disturbance the assistance of IADL(Instrumental Activities of Daily Living). Change of personality was most related to the stress of the decrease of cognitive activities and elderly's abnormal behavior. The deficiency of supporting network was most related to misconduct behavior.

  • This study attempted to identify the health behaviors and related factors of lifestyle related diseases among some public officials. The study subjects were 729 administrative officers of the general public office of the government in D metropolitan city. The data collection was conducted by self-administered questionnaire from February 1 to March 31, 2016. As a result, the health behavior score for lifestyle related diseases showed a significant positive correlation with vulnerability, the effectiveness of health behavior and information obtained from the media about lifestyle-related diseases, while it showed a significant negative correlation with the barriers to health behaviors concerning lifestyle related diseases. As a result of the covariance structure analysis, vulnerability and seriousness about lifestyle related diseases were the most important factors affecting health behavior for lifestyle related diseases. The next most important factors were a family history of lifestyle related diseases, information obtained from the media, effectiveness of and barriers to health behavior, instrumental support, and emotional support. These results suggest that each factor constituting the Health Belief Model (HBM) (perceived vulnerability and seriousness about lifestyle related diseases, perceived effectiveness and barriers to health behaviors, family history of lifestyle related diseases, information obtained from the mass media about lifestyle related diseases, social support network for lifestyle related diseases) is an important factor to consider in practicing health behaviors for lifestyle related diseases. Therefore, it is important to accurately understand the factors related to the practice of the health behaviors of the subjects and to manage them continuously.
