Designing Online Public Education Contents in Korean Medicine Using the Rapid-Prototyping Instructional Systems Design Model

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to design Korean-themed online public education content in Korean medicine using rapid prototyping instructional systems design (RPISD). This study presents cases of developing and converting face-to-face general education programs designed to increase the interest in and understanding of Korean medicine for the public into online programs within a short timeframe. Methods: This qualitative study is design and development research, which used the RPISD model to analyze the available resources utilized in the rapid development of public educational content and propose systematization and optimization measures by analyzing the needs of clients, learners, and the environment. The <Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine(DUBG)Open Course> was developed according to the model procedure, which involved needs analysis, development of course materials and manuscript, and storyboard creation and its filming and editing. Usability tests were conducted at all stages, and the opinions of clients, instructors, experts, and instructional designers were accommodated and reflected at each stage. Results: Using the rapid prototyping model, <Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine(DUBG)Open Course> was organized into five classes of 20 minutes each. Each class was developed in Korean and included English, Chinese, and Japanese subtitles in addition to Korean under the cooperative instructional design among clients, subject-matter experts, instructional designer and learners. Conclusion: The cooperative instructional design of stakeholders is significant in developing Korean medicine public education content online through extensive interaction and feedback from stakeholders in the early stage of educational content development.

  • This paper describes the instructional flexible manufacturing system(FMS) laboratory facility at Virginia Polytechnic Institute(VPI) which is directed at problems and issues in the design, implementation and control of computer integrated manufacturing systems. It begins with a configuration and an operational description of FMS laboratory facilities. Next, relevant curricula in manufacturing systems design and control, which can use the FMS laboratory for instructional purpose, are introduced, A computer simulation can be used as an excellent tool for analysis prior to implementation of FMS as well as an on-going improvement tool. A brief survey of simulation languages is lastly included.

  • 구성주의적 관점에서 교수-학습의 과정을 설명하고자 하는 노력들은 웹 기반 교수-학습체제 설계 과정의 중심을 학습자에게로 옮겨 놓았고 웹 환경에서도 학습자에게 인간의 면대면 의사소통과 동질의 학습환경을 제공하고자 하는 설계적 관심은 최적정 상호작용성을 구현하기 위한 처방적 전략으로 제시되고 있다. 상호작용 설계의 과정은 학습자와 체제간의 기계적, 물리적, 외현적인 교류는 물론 인지적, 정의적, 내면적 측면의 암묵적 교환을 포괄하는 측면에서 이루어져야 하고 이것은 웹 기반 교수-학습체제의 설계에도 예외없이 적용된다. 학습목표, 학습내용 및 학습자 특성과 더불어 웹 고유의 환경적 특성이 상호작용 설계에 통합되어야 한다.

Reflection and Future Directions: ISD from the Perspective of Intercultural Communication

  • This study purports to contribute in deepening our understanding of ISD (instructional systems design/development) from Edward Hall's concept of intercultural communication. Renowned anthropologist Edward Hall introduced three concepts of cultural differences: time, space, and context. This paper explores how theses cultural dimensions - time, space and context- are reflected in ISD and compares the cultural differences between the east and the west that emerge in the process of applying ISD.

  • Objectives : Instructional design is the systematic approach to the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of learning materials and activities. We aimed to apply the rapid prototyping to instructional systems design (RPISD) in meridianology laboratory, a subject in which students train acupuncture to develop lesson plan. Methods : The needs of the stakeholders including client, subject matter expert and students were analyzed using the performance needs analysis model. Task analysis was implemented by observation and interview. First prototype was drafted and implemented in meridianology laboratory class once. The second prototype was modified from the first, by usability evaluation of the stakeholders. Results : The client requested an electronically documented manual to improve the quality of acupuncture training. The learner requested an extension of practice time and detailed practice guidelines. The main problems of students' performance were some cases of violation of clean needle technique, the lack of communication between the operator and recipient in direct, and lack of confidence in their own performance. Stakeholders were generally satisfied with the proposed first prototype. Second prototype of lesson plan was produced by modifying some contents. Conclusions : A lesson plan was developed by applying the systematic RPISD model. It is expected that the developed instructional design may contribute to the quality improvement of meridianology laboratory education.

교수체제설계 기법에 기반한 정보화 교육과정 개발 및 실행 방안: 신발업체를 대상으로 (A Development and Action Plan for the IS Curriculum based on Instructional System Design)

  • 본 연구는 신발산업의 정보화를 위한 교육 과정 개발 및 실행 방안을 제시하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 교육과정 개발에서 일반적으로 사용되는 교수체제설계 기법(ISD: Instructional System Design)을 토대로 신발산업에 적합한 교육과정 개발단계를 마련하고 각 단계별 실행방안을 제시하였다. 제시된 방안은 목표설정, 분석, 설계, 개발, 실행, 평가의 6단계로 구분되어 있다. 목표설정 단계에서는 신발업체의 정보화 교육과정 개발을 위한 명확한 목표를 설정하고, 분석 단계에서는 문헌연구 및 부산지역 신발업체를 대상으로 교육 수요 조사를 실시하였다. 설계 단계에서는 신발업체를 위한 정보화 교육과정 개발 체계를 개발하고 이를 토대로 커리큐럼 맵을 도출하였다. 개발단계 에서는 도출된 과정별 교육내용을 개략적으로 기술하고 이를 신발산업에 업종별, 직능별, 수준별로 적용하였다. 실행단계에서는 교육과정 추진 체계를 수립하고 교육실행 및 지원 전략을 수립하였으며, 평가 단계에서는 신발산업 정보화 교육 평가의 관점을 제시하였다. 본 연구를 통해 도출된 개발 및 실행 방안은 낙후되어 있는 신발산업의 정보화 교육을 지원하고, 업종별, 직능별, 수준별 맞춤식 교육의 기틀 마련에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이며 신발산업과 유사한 성격을 지닌 타산업의 교육과정 개발에서도 적용될 수 있을 것이다.

평생교육 교수체제설계 모형 개발 및 내적 타당화 (The Construction and Internal Validation of Lifelong Education ISD Model)

  • 본 연구는 디자인씽킹과 교수체제설계에 관한 문헌연구를 통하여 디자인씽킹 프로세스를 접목한 교수체제설계 모형을 개발한 후 모형의 내적 타당성을 확인하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구는 3단계의 과정으로 진행하였다. 첫 번째 단계는 문헌연구이다. 선행연구와 관련문헌을 통해서 ADDIE 모형의 단계 및 구성요소를 탐색하여 모형 개발의 준거틀을 설정하고 디자인씽킹 프로세스를 교수체제설계 모형에 접목할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다. 두 번째 단계는 모형 개발이다. 문헌연구를 통해서 확인한 디자인씽킹의 핵심개념을 접목하여 평생교육 교수체제설계 모형인 DT ISD 모형을 개발하였다. 세 번째 단계는 DT ISD 모형의 내적 타당화이다. 교육공학 및 평생교육 분야의 전문가가 참여한 3차의 델파이 연구를 통해서 수정된 DT ISD 모형의 내적 타당성이 인정되었다. DT ISD 모형은 ADDIE와 같은 전통적인 교수체제설계 모형에 내재된 행동주의 학습이론 및 인지주의 학습이론과 달리 구성주의 학습이론을 기반으로 한다. 따라서, DT ISD 모형은 주로 성인 대상 평생교육 프로그램을 개발하는 효과적인 교수체제설계 모형이라고 할 수 있다. 향후 DT ISD 모형의 외적 타당성을 확인하기 위한 지속적 실행연구를 제언한다.

재사용과 공유를 위한 수업 자료 큐레이션 시스템 기능에 대한 연구 (A Study on Design of the Curation System of Instructional Materials for Reusing and Sharing)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 초 중 고등학교 수업 자료의 재사용과 공유를 효율적으로 지원하기 위한 큐레이션 시스템의 기능을 도출하는 것이다. 수업 자료의 활용현황을 조사한 면담을 통해 현장 교사들이 수업 자료를 자주 사용하고 있다는 것과 수업 자료 생산 매체 및 수업 자료 사용 목적이 초등학교와 중 고등학교 간 차이가 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 설문 조사를 통해 재사용과 공유를 위한 큐레이션 시스템의 요구사항을 도출하였다. 큐레이션 전략에 관한 기존의 연구를 조사하여 효과적인 시스템 운영을 위한 정책, 디자인, 표준 및 도구에 대한 전략을 식별하였다. 이상의 조사 결과를 반영하여 설계한 큐레이션 시스템의 업무와 기능은 다음과 같다. 개인 작업 공간에서 구현되어야하는 업무는 인증, 환경설정, 등록, 보관, 편집을 통한 재사용이다. 공유를 위한 공동 작업 공간으로 구현되어야하는 업무는 접수, 저장, 동료 평가, 접근이다.

의료시스템과학에서의 시스템사고 교육을 위한 교수설계 (Instructional Design for Systems Thinking Education in Health Systems Science)

  • Systems thinking, a linking domain of health systems science (HSS), is an approach that investigates specific problems from a holistic perspective. It supports improving patients' health, fulfilling their health needs, and anticipating issues that threaten patient safety within the healthcare system. It also helps solve problems through critical thinking and ref lection. This study aimed to develop an curriculum on systems thinking, explore the effectiveness of the course, and investigate the applicability of HSS education at individual universities. In this study, the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model was utilized to design, develop, implement, and evaluate an elective course on systems thinking. In the design process, learning outcomes and goals were developed, and educational content, teaching-learning methods, and student evaluation methods were linked. In the development process, class materials and evaluation materials were prepared. In the implementation process, the course was implemented, and the evaluation process analyzed the results of learning performance and curriculum assessments. The evaluation found the following results. First, the students in the study realized the importance of systems thinking and experienced the need for systems thinking through non-medical and medical situations. Second, the students were very satisfied with the learning activities in the course (mean=4.84), and the results of the self-competence evaluation, conducted before and after the course, also showed a significant improvement. This study confirmed the effectiveness of the elective course, and its results can serve as a reference for developing an HSS curriculum.

A Case Study: Design and Develop e-Learning Content for Korean Local Government Officials in the Pandemic

  • e-Learning content can be defined as digital content to achieve educational goals. Since it is an educational material that can be distributed in offline, online, and mobile environments, it is important to create content that meets the learner's education environment and educational goals. In particular, if the learner is a public official, the vision, philosophy, and characteristics of each local government must reflect. As non-face-to-face online education expands further due to the COVID-19 pandemic, local governments that have relied on onsite education in the past urgently require developing strong basic competency education and special task competency content that reflect regional characteristics. Such e-learning content, however, hardly exists and the ability to independently develop them is also insufficient. In this circumstance, this case study describes the process of self-production of e-learning content suitable for Busan's characteristics by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Institute of Busan City, a local government. The field of instructional design and instructional technology is always evolving and growing by blending technological innovation into instructional platform design and adapting to the changes in society. Busan HRD Institute (BHI), therefore, tried to implement blended learning by developing content that reflected the recent trend of micro-learning in e-learning through a detailed analysis. For this, an e-learning content developer with certain requirements was selected and contracted, and the process of developing content through a collaboration between the client and developer was described in this study according to the ADDIE model of Instructional Systems Development (ISD).
