내구시험을 통한 베어링의 열화 특성과 그리스의 화학적 열화 특성 연관성 분석 (Correlation Analysis Between Chemical Degradation Characteristics of Grease and Degradation Characteristics of Bearing Through Durability Test)

  • This paper introduces the effect of grease on the degradation characteristics of bearings used as key components of packaging equipment and automation systems. Bearings parts are installed to fix and support the rotating body of the system, and performance degradation of the bearings has a great effect on the life of the system too. When bearings are used in various devices and systems, the grease is applied to reduce friction and improve fatigue life. Determining the type of lubricant (grease) is important because it has a great influence on the operating environment and lifespan and ensures long lifespan of systems and facilities. However, studies that simultaneously compared and analyzed the change in mechanical degradation characteristics and the comparison of chemical degradation characteristics according to grease types under actual operating conditions are insufficient. In this paper, three types of small harmonic drive, high-load reducer, and low-load reducer grease used in power transmission joint modules are experimentally selected and finally injected into ball bearings with a load (19,500N) to improve bearing durability. Degradation characteristics were tested by attaching to test equipment. At this time, after the durability test under the same load conditions, the mechanical degradation characteristics, that is temperature, vibration according to the three greases types. In addition, the chemical degradation characteristics of the corresponding grease was compared to present the results of mutual correlation analysis.

지상변압기의 내부 보호장비 작동을 위한 MCA 보호협조에 대한 연구 (A study on Protective Coordination of MCA for Performing of the Pad Mounted Transformer's inside Protective Device)

  • KEPCO's plan is undergoing a trial operation to replace the open-loop section with ring main units configuration where underground distribution lines are installed, by linking the multi-way circuit breakers auto (MCA) on the power side of each pad-mounted transformer. However, ring main units application mentioned above may cause the ripple effects, when implementing the configuration without a study of protection coordination. Because ring main units with classical pre-set protection devices contribution in fault condition didn't consider yet. For the reliable ring main units operation, it is necessary to resolve several protection issues such as the protection coordination with substation side, prevention of the transformer inrush current. These issues can radically deteriorate the distribution system reliability Hence, it is essential to design proper protection coordination to reduce these types of problems. This paper presents a scheme of ring main units' configuration and MCA's settings of time-current curves to preserve the performance of protection coordination among the switchgears considering constraints, e.g. prevention of the ripple effects (on the branch section when a transformer failure occurs and the mainline when a branch line failure occurs). It was confirmed that the propagation of the failure for each interrupter segment could be minimized by applying the proposed TCC and the interrupter settings for the MCAs (branch, transformer). Further, it was verified that the undetected area of the distribution automation system (DAS) could be supplemented by having the MCA configurated ring main units operate first, instead of the internal protection equipment in the transformer such as the fuse, STP when a transformer failure occurs.

  • 신속한 차단 사양을 위한 통신 신호는 시스템 구성과 관계없이 NEC 2014, NEC 2017 또는 해당 UL 규격에서는 "적용되는 모든 태양광(PV) 시스템의 빠른 차단 요구사항을 지원하도록 설계한다"라고 규정되어 있다. 한편 신재생에너지 관련 국내 규정 등을 보면 각 기관에서 정한 기준이나 규정, 지침 등은 일반적이거나 해당 기관이 필요한 부분만 제정해서 운영 중이다. 이러한 것들을 태양광 시설에 적용하기에는 미흡한 점이 많아 설계, 감리자와 검사기관의 검사 기준, 검사자의 기술 수준에 따라 과도하게 설비를 하는 경우 등이 발생하고 있다. 국제적으로 통용되는 IEC 규격은 각종 시설규격을 자세히 다루고 있다. 유럽 각국에서는 IEC를 근간으로 별도의 시설 규정이 있는데, 특히 기기의 성능, 안전성 등을 상세하게 다루고 있고, 미국 등 북미에서 적용하는 'NEC Article 690'인 경우 각 항목이 매우 상세하게 기술하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 국제적으로 통용 및 현재 적용되고 있는 태양광(PV) 셧다운(Shutdown) 기술에 대한 세부 내용들을 살펴보고자 한다.

Relaying of 4G Signal over 5G Suitable for Disaster Management following 3GPP Release 18 Standard

  • Technologies for disaster management are highly sought areas for research and commercial deployment. Landslides, Flood, cyclones, earthquakes, forest fires and road/train accidents are some causes of disasters. Capturing video and accessing data in real time from the disaster site can help first responders make split second decisions which may save human lives and valuable resource destructions. In this context the communication technologies performing the task should have high bandwidth and low latency which only 5G can deliver. But unfortunately in India, deployment of the 5G mobile communication systems is yet to give a shape and again in remote areas unavailability of 4G signals is still severe. In this situation the authors have proposed, simulated and experimented a 4G-5G communication scheme where from the disaster site the signals will be transmitted by a 5G terminal to a nearby 4G-5G gateway installed in a mobile vehicle. The received 5G signal will be further relayed by the 4G-5G gateway to the fixed 4G base station for onward transmission towards the disaster management station for decision making, deployment and relief monitoring. The 4G-5G gateway acts as a relay and converter of 5G signal to 4G signal and vice versa. This relayed system can be further mounted on a vehicle mounted relay (VMR) as proposed by 3GPP in Release 18. The scheme is also in the same line of context with Verizon's, "Tactical Humanitarian Operations Response" (THOR) vehicle concept. The performance of the link is studied in different channel conditions, the throughput achieved is superb. The authors have implemented the above mentioned system towards smart campus networking and monitoring landslides activities which are common in their regions.

포스트 코로나 시대 신종 감염병 대비를 위한 기존 의료시설의 비상시 운영사례 조사 및 분석 (Investigations on the emergency operation status of existing medical facilities to prepare for emerging infectious diseases in the post-COVID-19 era)

  • Purpose: To accommodate the increasing number of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous portable HEPA filter units (PHUs) were installed in the general wards of existing medical facilities(EMFs) to convert them into emergency conversion facilities (ECFs). The purpose of this study was to build a dataset in preparation for emerging infectious diseases in the post-COVID-19 era by analyzing the construction and operation of ECFs. Methods: Field investigations were conducted during ECF operation periods based on the analysis of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HAVC) system design documents for six ECFs across Korea. Interviews were conducted with facility managers during the field investigations. Results: When constructing an ECF within an EMF, the installation status and characteristics of the existing system should be considered. Field investigations and verifications of the operation of HAVC systems must be conducted beforehand for smooth ECF operations. If heating and cooling are required with indoor air circulation type equipment in an ECF zone, the implementation of a heating and cooling method that can satisfy the comfort requirements of the occupants while minimizing cross-contamination is essential. When using PHUs that do not meet the performance standards required by medical equipment, the noise level resulting from such equipment operation must be evaluated and improved. Implications: For EMFs, various guidelines that can be referred to for the construction and operation of ECFs must be developed to prepare for emerging infectious diseases in the future.

CO2 냉각모듈을 적용한 고곡률 성형품의 사출금형 급속냉각 (Rapid cooling of injection mold for high-curvature parts using CO2 cooling module)

  • Injection molding is a cyclic process comprising of cooling phase as the largest part of this cycle. Providing efficient cooling in lesser cycle times is of significant importance in the molding industry. Recently, lots of researches have been done for rapid cooling of a hot-spot area using CO2 in injection molding. The CO2 flows under high pressure through small, flexible capillary tubes to the point of use, where it expands to create a snow and gas mixture at a temperature of -79℃. The gaseous CO2 removes heat from the mold and releases it into the atmosphere. In this paper, a CO2 cooling module was applied to an injection mold in order to cool a large area cavity uniformly and quickly, and the cooling performance of the injection mold was investigated. The product was a high-curvature molded part with a molding area of 300x100mm. Heat cartridges were installed in a stationary mold, and CO2 cooling module was inserted inside a movable mold. Through structural analysis, it was confirmed that the maximum deformation of mold with CO2 cooling module was 0.09mm. A CO2 feed system with a heat exchanger was used for cooling experiments. The CO2 was injected into the holes on both sides of the supply pipe of the cooling module and discharged through hexagon blocks to cool the mold. It took 5.8 seconds to cool the mold from an average temperature of 140℃ to 70℃. Through the experiment using CO2 cooling module, it was found that a cooling rate of up to 12.98℃/s and an average of 10.18℃/s could be achieved.

Dynamic behavior of submerged floating tunnels at the shore connection considering the use of flexible joints

  • When a submerged floating tunnel is connected to the ground, there is a risk of stress concentration at the shore connection owing to the displacement imbalance caused by low confinement pressures in water and high confinement pressures in the ground. Here, the effects of the boundary condition and stiffness of the joints installed at the shore connection on the behaviors of a submerged floating tunnel and its shore connection were analyzed using a numerical method. The analysis results obtained with fixed and ground boundaries were similar due to the high stiffness of the ground boundary. However, the stability of the shore connection was found to be improved with the ground boundary as a small displacement was allowed at the boundary. The effect of the joint stiffness was evaluated by investigating the dynamic behavior of the submerged floating tunnel, the magnitude of the load acting on the bored tunnel, and the stress distribution at the shore connection. A lower joint stiffness was found to correspond to more effective relief of the stress concentration at the shore connection. However, it was confirmed that joints with low stiffness also increase the submerged floating tunnel displacement and decrease the frequency of the dynamic behavior, causing a risk of increased resonance when wave loads with low frequency are applied. Therefore, it is necessary to derive the optimal joint stiffness that can achieve both stress concentration relief and resonance prevention during the design of shore connections to secure their dynamic stability.

Theoretical formulation for calculating elastic lateral stiffness in a simple steel frame equipped with elliptic brace

  • Elliptic-braced simple resisting frame as a new lateral bracing system installed in the middle bay of frame in building facades has been recently introduced. This system not only creates a problem for opening space from the architectural viewpoint but also improves the structural behavior. Despite the researches on the seismic performance of lateral bracing systems, there are few studies performed on the effect of the stiffness parameters on the elastic story drift and calculation of period in simple braced steel frames. To overcome this shortcoming, in this paper, for the first time, an analytical solution is presented for calculating elastic lateral stiffness in a simple steel frame equipped with elliptic brace subjected to lateral load. In addition, for the first time, in this study, a precise formulation has been developed to evaluate the elastic stiffness variation in a steel frame equipped with a two-dimensional single-story single-span elliptic brace using strain energy and Castigliano's theorem. Thus, all the effective factors, including axial and shear loads as well as bending moments of elliptic brace could be considered. At the end of the analysis, the lateral stiffness can be calculated by an improved and innovative relation through the energy method based on the geometrical properties of the employed sections and specification of the used material. Also, an equivalent element of an elliptic brace was presented for the ease of modeling and use in linear designs. Application of the proposed relation have been verified through a variety of examples in OpenSees software. Based on the results, the error percentage between the elastic stiffness derived from the developed equations and the numerical analyses of finite element models was very low and negligible.

지속가능한 장수명 모듈러 도로를 위한 지지 모듈러 시스템 (Support Modular System for Sustainable-Perpetual-Modular Road)

  • 본 연구에서는 도로의 건설 시간 및 유지관리 비용을 단축하기 위하여 제안된 지속가능한 장수명 모듈러 도로시스템의 하부구조인 지지 모듈러의 성능을 평가하였다. 하부 곡선면을 가진 Cross-Beam 형태의 지지 모듈러 4개로 구성된 모듈러 도로시스템을 Test-bed에 시공하였다. 6개의 하중계와 8개의 변위계를 중앙부 2개 Cross-Beam 형태의 지지 모듈러에 설치하였다. 2개의 하중, 50kN, 100kN을 도로 포장슬래브 15개 지점에 재하하여 모듈러 도로시스템에서 발생하는 하중 및 변위를 측정하였다. 측정된 변위들은 1mm 미만으로 실제 도로의 안정성에 문제가 없을 것으로 판단된다. 현장실험에서 적용된 2개의 재하 하중들과 측정된 하중값들을 비교해 보았을 때 하부 지반에 전달되는 하중은 매우 작은 것으로 판단된다. 지지 모듈러를 가진 모듈러 도로 시스템을 실제 도로현장에 적용 가능한 것으로 판단된다.

교통정보 수집 및 감시 동시운영을 위한 CCTV 카메라 자율자세 보정 알고리즘 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of CCTV Camera Autonomous Posture Calibration Algorithm for Simultaneous Operation of Traffic Information Collection and Monitoring)

  • 본 논문은 교통상태 감시 등 교통관제를 위해 설정한 CCTV 카메라의 화각 상태에서 교통량, 속도 등 교통정보 수집을 동시에 수행할 수 있는 CCTV 카메라 자세보정 알고리즘 개발에 관한 것이다. 개발한 자율자세보정 알고리즘은 차량인식 및 추적기법을 이용하여 도로를 식별하고, 운영자의 교통감시 및 교통정보 수집을 위한 화각을 결정한다. 제안 알고리즘의 성능검증은 현장에 설치한 CCTV를 이용하였으며, 교통감시 및 교통정보 수집을 위해 각각 설정한 화각에 대해 자율자세보정 알고리즘이 자동 산출한 화각의 결과와 비교하였다. 분석결과 운영자 감시를 위한 화각은 상호 96%의 일치성을 보였다. 교통정보의 경우는 교통량 및 속도의 정확도가 각각 96%, 95%로 산출됐으며 수동 설정한 화각과 비교할 때 약 2%의 오차가 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 결과적으로 제안 알고리즘을 통해 관제용 CCTV를 이용하여 교통정보 수집 및 교통상황 감시를 동시에 수행할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
