This study was performed to analyze the variation of inside temperature of greenhouse according to shading methods. We used two shading method of external and internal method. The shading effect of external screen was superior to internal screen. Soil temperature of greenhouse without screen was higher than outside soil temperature, but the value of greenhouse with internal and external screen was lower than outside.
This study was conducted to develop an automatic insulation system to reduce the heat loss through the wall of greenhouses during the nighttime in winter. A double covered model vinyl house was constructed, and blowers were used to fill or remove styrene pellets automatically the inside of the double-wall of the double covered vinyl house. The effects of insulation of the double covered vinyl house insulated with the styrene pellets were analyzed by comparing with the single covered vinyl house. The results obtained from this study can be summarized as follows : 1. The optimum thickness of the double-wall of the double covered vinyl house was found to be 5 to 10 cm. 2.When the outside temperature varied in the range of -8.3 to -1.5$^{\circ}C$ during the nighttime, the inside temperature of the double covered vinyl house insulated with the styrene pellets showed 7.7 to 11.7$^{\circ}C$ and the inside temperature of the single covered vinyl house showed -5.8 to 2.3$^{\circ}C$. Therefore, the effects of insulation of the double covered vinyl house insulated with the styrene pellets were confirmed to be excellent. 3. Also, the excessive increase of the inside temperature in the vinyl house was prevented by the shading effect of the double covered vinyl house insulated with the styrene pellets during the daytime. 4. When the outside temperature varied in the range of 17.7 to 30.0$^{\circ}C$ during the daytime, it was possible to keep the inside temperature at 30${\pm}$4$^{\circ}C$ in the double covered vinyl house by operating the insulation system. 5. The transmissivity of the double covered vinyl house with the styrene pellets removed was 52.4 % on the average.
A numerical study for the flow, heat and mass transfer characteristics of the evaporating tube with the films flowing down on both the inside and outside tube walls has been carried out. The condensation occurs along the outside wall while the evaporation occurs at the free surface of the inside film. The transport equations for momentum and energy are parabolized by the boundary-layer approximation and solved by using the marching technique. The calculation domain of 2 film flow regions (evaporating and condensation films at the inside and outside tube wall respectively) and tube wall is solved simultaneously. The coupling technique for the problem with the 3 different regions and the 2 interfaces of them has been developed to calculate the temperature field. The velocity and temperature fields and the amount of the condensed and evaporated mass as well as the position where the evaporating film is completely dried out are successfully predicted for various inside pressures and inside film inlet flow rates.
The greenhouse heating system using solar energy has been realized in the protective agriculture in this study in order to analyse the thermal energy characteristics of the system the effects of ambient air temperature, solar radiation, relative humidities and water content of ambient air on the greenhouse air temperature were investigated through computer simulation experimental analysis for validation of the simulation. The results from this study are summarized as follows: 1) The expected values of inside air temperature for the system solar energy were very much close to the experimental values. 2) In the system using solar energy, the expected values of daytime surface temperature of soil by computer simulation were very much similar to the measured values, but those of nighttime were higher than the measured value by almost $2.5^{\circ}C$. 3) Heat loss of daytime was found to be larger than that of night time as much as 2.0 to 4.2 times for the system using solar energy. 4) In the system using solar energy. while the ambient air temperature varied between $-7^{\circ}C$ and $-3.8^{\circ}C$, the temperature of the inside air was maintained between $0^{\circ}C$ and $22^{\circ}C$. 5) At the minimum ambient temperature of $-7^{\circ}C$, the temperature of the inside air was $0^{\circ}C$.
In this study, the solidification characteristics inside the AC7A casting material was analyzed using the numerical analysis method and was verified using the experimental method by the pre-heated temperature conditions of metal casting device. For the numerical analysis, "COMSOL Multiphysics", the commercial code based on the finite element analysis(FEA), was used in order to predict the thermal deformation of the AC7A casting material including temperature, displacement and stress distribution. Also, in order to verify the results calculated by the numerical analysis, the experiment for temperature measurement inside the AC7A casting material was performed using the K-type thermocouple under the same condition of numerical analysis method. In the numerical results, thermal deformation inside AC7A casting material was well-suited for manufacturing products when the pre-heated temperatures of the metal casting device was $250^{\circ}C$. When the results of the temperature distribution were experimentally measured and were compared with those of the numerical result, it appeared that there was some temperature difference because of the latent heat by phase change heat transfer. However, the result of cooling temperature and patterns were almost similar except for the latent heat interval. The solidification characteristics was closely related to the temperature difference between the surface and inside of the casting.
The purpose of this study was to confirm the effects of girdle on the physiological responses and the microclimate in summer. The measuring points were rectal temperature, skin temperature, pulse rate and sweat volume as physiological responses and the inside clothing temperature, relative humidity as microclimate when the subjects wore girdle (girdle A; polyurethan+nylon, girdle B; polyurethan+cotton) for the period of rest and exercise in climate chamber. The enviromental conditions were at $25^{\circ}C$ ($65{\pm}5\%$ RH) and $30^{\circ}C$ ($75{\pm}5\%$ RR). The results were as followings. 1. Mean skin temperature increased in girdle during the exercise at $30^{\circ}C$. 2. The pulse rate decreased in girdle during the rest at $25^{\circ}C$. In the case of girdle A, it was remarkably decreased. Rectal temperature increased in girdle A and B during the exercise at $25^{\circ}C$. But the kinds of girdle didn't affect the pulse rate and rectal temperature. 3. The total sweat volume in girdle was larger than in control. 4. The difference between skin temperature and inside clothing temperature of abdomen had a tendency to increase at all experiment condition. 5. The relative humidity of inside ($RH_1$) and outside ($RH_2$) of girdle increased in girdle during the rest at $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$. And the relative humidity of wearing girdle B was hig-her than girdle A during the rest at $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$. The $RH_1$ after stepping at $30^{\circ}C$ was the highest in girdle A and the lowest in control. From this point of view, we concluded that physiological responses and the microclimate were affected by wearing girdle. And mean skin temperature and relative humidity of inside clothing were affected by the materials of girdle.
Most of the domestic cold storage rooms are inefficient for agricultural products because of temperature gradients inside the storage rooms. Temperature gradients are developed mainly by improper airflow pattern inside the storage room, which is a main cause of the spoilage of the agricultural products. There proper airflow pattern is essential to minimize these temperature gradients and the spoilage. The performance and characteristics of a cold storage room were determined as a function of airflow pattern and temperature distribution in forced circulation cold storage room. A commercial CFD(computational fluid dynamics) code was used to simulate 3-D airflow in the cold storage room. Solving the flow equations for the storage room, a standard k-$\varepsilon$ turbulent model was implemented to calculate steady state turbulent velocity distribution. The CFD prediction results were compared with temperature measurements inside the cold storage room. In case of pallet storage, Temperature gradients inside pallet storage was reduced because the contact area of cold air expanded through an alley of airflow in storage. But is case of bulk storage, the last temperature of storage considerably rose more than the initial temperature of storage. The reason was that bulk storage didn't include any alley of airflow in storage.
The current work presents a design and fabrication technique for a microchannel system to measure the local temperature distribution inside microchannel. This micro channel system fabricated by MEMS technique is integrated with a heater and an array of temperature sensors so that detailed heat transfer phenomena inside micro-scale channel can be studied. Materials widely used in semiconductor process were selected to fabricate a heater and temperature sensors on a silicon wafer. On these heater and sensors a channel wall was fabricated with SU-8. The friction constant and the local Nusselt number distribution measured for the deionized water flow in the microchannel is presented.
TAP system, a kind of natural convective space heating collector, has a good heat loss by night. The aim of this paper is to induce and to study an hourly heat flow theory by response factors analysis with TAP in inside and outside insulated construction, to compare and evaluate on thermal performance an hourly natural temperature, heated room temperature and heating load in aboved-mention constructions with computer simulation. The results of the study can be summarized as follows. According that there is no TAP and with TAP, it is inside insulated construction and outside insulated construction, daily natural range of temperature each shows $12.5^{\circ}C$ and $16.7^{\circ}C$, $2.7^{\circ}C$ and $3.7^{\circ}C$, daily heated range of temperature with noramal control heating system each shows $6.6^{\circ}C$ and $12.1^{\circ}C$, $1.7^{\circ}C$ and $3.1^{\circ}C$, heating hours each show 10 hr and 7 hr, 9 hr and 4 hr and heating energy saving percentage in january 123% and 79%, 100% and 40%. Therefore, energy saving percentage shows that outside insulated construction saves about 54% in comparision with inside insulated construction.
Temperature distriburion in a hollow chlinder has been analyzed mathematically. Unsteady condition considered assumed a constant heat flux input from the inside. The results are compared with experimental results of surface temperature rise of a gun barrel during continuous firing. Their agreements are acceptable. Effects of various dimensionless parameters on the surface temperature rise are discussed. For small Biot numbers, the external survface temperature approaches more rapidly to the steady temperature. Temperature difference between internal and external surfaces becomes greater for small Biot number. Steady solution assumed that the gas temperature inside the cylinder varies periodically. Relative amplitude and phase angles between the gas temperature and the internal or external surface temperature are obtained. Phase angles become smaller for large radiancy of gas temperature variation, small external Biot number, or large internal biot number. Relative amplitudes become samller as radiancy of gas temperature variation and internal Biot number become smaller. or external Biot number becomes larger. The solution obtained in this paper can be applied to gun barrels, heat pipes used in heat excangers, and reciprocation engines.
