  • An inorganic binder is eco-friendly because it can be cured at low temperatures and does not emit harmful gases. In addition, related research is progressing rapidly owing to the small defects in the core. On the other hand, inorganic binders based on silicates (SiO2-Na2O) have unique absorbent properties. This results in the absorption of moisture from the air and the weakening of the bonding force. In particular, the castings used in cast steel require high-strength properties because of the higher temperatures than aluminum castings. In this study, waxes containing ester groups were selected to improve the absorption of moisture of inorganic binders. The inorganic binder was characterized by X-ray fluorescence and thermogravimetric analysis-differential thermal analysis. The inorganic binder core strength was then evaluated. In the case of an inorganic binder containing wax, the water resistance increased to 216 N/㎠, confirming the up to 55% improvement in strength. Excellent casting characteristics were confirmed through steel castings.

  • Influences of machining on magnetic properties of soft magnetic composites (SMC's) with addition of two kinds of binder, i.e., organic binder and inorganic one, were investigated. Machining does not affect DC magnetic properties of the SMC compacts. This can be ascribed to their particular structure in which the ironpowder particles are highly isolated by the binder. On the other hand, decrease in resistivity and resultant increase in eddy current loss was confirmed in the machined compacts containing inorganic binder. It is supposed that the brittleadditive binder existing between the iron particles is partly broken, and iron-to-iron contact is formed on the machined surface.

  • The effects of binder on the mechanical properties of the preforms and metal matrix composites (MMCs) were studied. Fibers were $9Al_2O_3{\cdot}2B_2O_3(Alborex)$, HTZ and $Al_2O_3$ fibers(Saffil) and binders were organic binder, inorganic binder, polyacrylamide under various PH conditions. Compressive strength of the preform increased with the addition of inorganic binder. The polyacrylamide did not improve the permeability of the preforms. PH of the slurry should be controlled because it affects the viscosity of the slurry. Good preforms were obtained under following conditions : 3 wt% inorganic binder, 0.1 wt% organic binder, 0.1 wt% polyacrylamide and PH 9. Tensile tests of MMCs were conducted at $20^{\circ}C,\;150^{\circ}C,\;250^{\circ}C,\;350^{\circ}C$ using MTS(100KN USA). Wear tests were conducted under various sliding speeds. High temperature($250^{\circ}C$) tensile strengths of Alborex/Saffil/AC8A and HTZ/AC8A are 80% and 75% of the room temperature tensile strengths respectively. The tensile and wear properties of the Alborex/Saffil/AC8A are superior to that of the HTZ/AC8A. The wear behavior of HTZ/AC8A shows more orthotropic characteristic than that of Alborex/Saffil/AC8A.

  • The environmental pollution problem the globally related to global warming arises, the demand for the solar power generation increases. But is generated sludge about 2tons in order to produce 1ton in the solar power generation used main material polysilicon. In this way, the arising sludge there is not method recycling and it is all discarded. Therefore, in this research, cement is not used dynamic properties tries to be analyze inorganic binder based on blast furnace slag and polysilicon sludge ratio. The appropriate replacement ratio of the experimental result polysilicon sludge was to be 8%.

  • In the cement, that is the main materials of the panel, as to the cofired process, more than 1,300 enormous energies is consumed, in addition the greenhouse gas generated in the process of producing the cement occupies 6.3% of the country whole emission quantity. And the carbon dioxide of about 0.8 ton is the cement ejected in 1 production. Accordingly, the panel utilizing the industrial byproduct is developed. Accordingly, this research is the experiment which makes the individual size into the environment-friendly inorganic binder panel and by using the blast furnace slag, which is the industrial byproduct with the cement substitute material red mud, silica fume, and etc. looks at the dry shrinkage. The length variation in which the panel which is 450 with the dry shrinkage result of measurement, thickness 12mm, and size 450mm is the smallest was shown.

  • Recently, as the policy of state that it is the low carbon green growth is promoted, the effort for reducing the CO2 gas generation ejected from the construction industry in the cement production is continued. That is, the method using the mineral admixtures including the silica fume and red mud, silica fume and etc. it is the industrial byproduct with the method solving the exhaustion problem of the environmental contamination settlement and natural resources, the great quantity as the cement substitute material is examined. Accordingly, in this research, the strength characteristic of the curing body differentiating the curing method of the ternary system inorganic binder using the blast furnace slag and red mud, silica fume and etc. as the cement substitute material tried to be examined.

  • This study evaluated the effects of fibers on the void ratio, compressive strength and repeated freezing and thawing resistance of porous vegetation concrete with binder type (non-sintering inorganic binder and blast furnace slag cement) and natural jute fiber volume fraction (0.0 %, 0.1 % and 0.2 %). The natural jute fiber volume fraction affected the void ratio, compressive strength and repeated freezing and thawing resistance. Added of natural jute fiber resulted in improved properties of the void ratio, compressive strength and freezing and thawing resistance. Also, the both compressive strength and freezing and thawing resistance increased with natural jute fiber volume fraction up to 0.1 % and then decreased with fiber volume fraction at 0.2 %.

  • CNT pastes with different inorganic binder such as glass frit and spin on glass (SOG) were synthesized by using multi-walled nanotube (MWNT) grown by CVD. The uniformity of cathode layer after firing was enhanced and the emission current density at an applied field of 7.95V/${\mu}m$ increased from 133${\mu}A$/$cm^2$ to 265${\mu}A$/$cm^2$ when inorganic binder changed from glass frit to SOG. The emission properties of CNT pastes with SOG were stable and uniform although firing was carried out at relatively high temperature of 450$^{\circ}C$ under air. It is concluded that SOG is more suitable inorganic binder than glass frit for field emission application.

  • Aluminosilicate inorganic polymer binder has been studied as an alternative to ordinary Portland cement due to its higher physical properties, chemical resistance and thermal resistance. This study has been carried out in an attempt to understand the hardening characteristics of aluminosilicate binder by varying the content of calcium. Samples with four different ratios of Al, Si, and Ca were synthesized in this study with the Al:Si:Ca mol ratio being 1.00:1.85~1.98:0.29~2.12. Furthermore, an alkali silicate solution was prepared with the sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate (NaSi). The hardening characteristics of the specimens were analyzed using XRD, SEM, and TG/DTA. In addition, compressive strength and sintering time of specimens were measured as a function of calcium content. The results showed that the specimen containing 2.12 mol% calcium offered the highest compressive strength. However, the compressive strength of the specimen containing 0.26 mol% calcium was lower relative to the other specimens. The results displayed a distinct tendency that as more calcium was added to the inorganic polymer, setting time became shorter. When calcium was added to the inorganic polymer structure, a second phase was not formed, indicating that the addition of calcium does not affect the crystalline structure.

  • We report effects of inorganic binder on the emission properties of CNT paste for low cost and high low-cost and large area field emission devices or displays. Two types of photosensitive carbon nanotube (CNT) paste were formulated by using of glass frit and spin on glass (SOG) as an inorganic binder and investigated their emission properties according to inorganic binders and firing conditions.
