IP관리가 기술혁신활동에 미치는 요인분석 (Factors Affecting Technological Innovation in Manufacturing Companies in Korea-The Role of Intellectual Property Management)

  • As society proceeds rapidly toward a knowledge-oriented stage, knowledge as an intangible asset has gained increasing importance. Companies increase their competitiveness and generate extra value through continuous investments in the management of intellectual property (IP). Thus, the prime concerns of companies have been protection of their technological innovation output through filing for IP rights, and maximization of their interests through utilization of intangible assets. Despite the importance of technological innovation in the management of a company, few studies have analyzed the key factors in the management of IP and activities for technological innovation. This study aims to derive policy implications for managing IP and effective capacity building for technological innovation. For this purpose, the author has employed empirical tests to identify the major factors influencing the direction of technological innovations in a company.

A Comparison of TDMA, Dirty Paper Coding, and Beamforming for Multiuser MIMO Relay Networks

  • A two-hop multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relay network which comprises a multiple antenna source, an amplify-and-forward MIMO relay and many potential users are studied in this paper. Consider the achievable sum rate as the performance metric, a joint design method for the processing units of the BS and relay node is proposed. The optimal structures are given, which decompose the multiuser MIMO relay channel into several parallel single-input single-output relay channels. With these structures, the signal-to-noise ratio at the destination users is derived; and the power allocation is proved to be a convex problem. We also show that high sum rate can be achieved by pairing each link according to its magnitude. The sum rate of three broadcast strategies, time division multiple access (TDMA) to the strongest user, dirty paper coding (DPC), and beamforming (BF) are investigated. The sum rate bounds of these strategies and the sum capacity (achieved by DPC) gain over TDMA and BF are given. With these results, it can be easily obtained that how far away TDMA and BF are from being optimal in terms of the achievable sum rate.

  • 인간은 항상 단순한 도구에서 복잡한 시스템에 이르기까지 수많은 물건과 관계를 맺으면서 생활하고. 있다. 여기에서 관계란 인간과 물건 사이에 이루어지는 상호작용으로 이러한 상호작용은 곧 사용자의 어떤 목적 달성을 위해 이루어지는 사용자와 제품 사이의 입출력과정으로 볼 수 있다. 이런 쌍방향적인 교류관계에서 중요한 것은 사용자 측면에서의 입력과 출력 그리고 제품 측면에서의 입력과 출력을 아무 문제없이 이어주는 것으로 비시각적인 제품의 조작과 반응사이의 관계를 좀 더 시각화하고 그 대응관계를 명료화하는 것이다. 따라서 이런 유형의 제품에서 제품개선의 의미는 무엇보다도 사용자와 제품간의 상호작용을 이해하고 분석하여 그 사이에 존재하는 물리적, 인지적 부하를 제거함으로서 사용자와 제품이 서로 무리없이 접근할 수 있도록 하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 인간의 행동모형에 대한 고찰을 바탕으로 제품과 사용자와 상호작용을 시각화할 수 있는 틀을 만들고 이러한 틀을 이용하여 그 관계를 모델링하고 분석함으로서 인간중심의 제품개선을 위한 아이디어를 얻을 수 있는 방법을 논하였다.

신제품 개발과정의 디지털화와 현실반영 정확도 관리에 대한 탐색적 연구 (Exploratory Research on the Fidelity Management and the Digitalization of New Product Development Process)

  • There has been rapid diffusion of digital innovation technology(DIT) such as 3 D CAD, CAE, simulation software which enable firms to see the future results of intended product designs through 3 D diagram and simulated results. This technology helps firms to reduce trial and error process by solving later stage problems in earlier stages. The DIT being the technology reflecting the real world, as a tool representing the simplified form of the real world, the degree of reflecting the real world(fidelity) is important in utilizing the DIT. This study is an exploratory research examining the process of reviewing the fidelity of the DITs and developing the complementary process necessary for utilizing the DIT with 'not good enough' fidelity. This study could draw out, from its case study, an exploratory hypothesis about the process of developing the complementary process. In the process, there is an analysis of the corresponding relationship between the actual data and the output data of the DIT, e.g. simulated result. Then the input data or output data are adjusted on the basis of the analysis of the corresponding relationship so that the discrepancy between the actual data and the expected interpretation of the output data, through the adjustment, of the DIT, can be reduced. This process is sometimes accompanied by the process of generating experimental data, which reflect the unique situation of the product development process of a company, to be put to the data base of DIT. The complementary process is the process requiring knowledge sharing and adjustment activities across different divisions. This study draw outs implications for effective management of the fidelity of DIT tools.

대체에러지 기술개발에 대한 수익성 평가분석 (An Economic Evaluation about Research and Development for Renewable energy in Korea)

  • This paper tried to evaluate an economic analysis about research and development far areas of renewable resource in Korea. To evaluate this validity, we tried to calculate the spillover effect of R&D investment through input-output table. In the first stage of spillover effect, we simply calculate the rate of return on R&D investment for renewable energy resources in Korea through the input-output model, which can calculate the value added as well as output based upon the price of 2000 year. According to the first stage calculation, the rate of return on R&B investment in solar heat is higher than any other renewable energy. In the second stage we tried to calculate the second round of spill over effect, which derives from the additional amount of supply of renewable resources due to the R&D investment. The overall evaluation of R&D invesment including the first stage as well as second stage spillover effect shows that bio-energy and waste energy generate 14 times as well as 2.5 times in the rate of return respectively.

  • This article introduces the five functions of the national innovation system (NIS). As the national innovation system is a kind of social systems in the national level, the five generic functions of open system-production boundary spanning, maintenance, adaptation management functions-are applied to the NIS. The production function is the primary process, which produces innovative products and services of the NIS. The boundary spanning function is the function of procuring the input and disposing the innovation output or aiding in these process. Experienced R&D human resources, R&D funds, technology etc. belong to the input of the NIS. The maintenance function is responsible for the smooth operation and upkeep of the system in terms of various conditions. The adaptive function is to help the system change and adapt, scan the environment for problems, opportunities, and technological developments. It faces outward for the survival of the system from the long-term view. The management function carries out planning and controlling the overall activities for the other four functions in order to run the system. Finally it discuses implications for the diagnosis and the decision making process of S&T policy.

  • This research is the analysis of using structural equation method in order to investigate the cause and effect relationship among the elements related to the innovation activity and the degree of the influence on that, and in order to make sure the sequential processes into the meaningful management performance for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of a various of innovation activities performing in the domestic small and medium enterprise. To perform this research, we surveyed CEOs, managers, workers working for manufacturing business, we distributed 250 sheets totally and withdrew 206 sheets. we analyzed 169 sheets that we could use for this research using SPSS 15.0 and AMOS 18.0 program.

기업사례를 통한 과학기술혁신정책의 평가 및 시사점: (주)바이로메드 (The Evaluation of the Korean Science, Technology, Innovation Policy: A Viewpoint of an Individual Firm, Viromed(Ltd))

  • The paper evaluates the Korean science, technology, and innovation policy(STIP) in terms of an individual firm. The firm is Viromed(Ltd), a new technology-based venture company in the field of biotechnology. The case is compared with the 'Hwang Project', which is known as a typical failure case in Korea. In order to evaluate the Korean STIP, we establish 6 areas, which are technological infrastructure, institutional infrastructure, human capital infrastructure, technology market, industrial base, and innovation networks. The study shows that the policy schemes relating with technological infrastructure, institutional infrastructure, human capital infrastructure, and industrial base play a positive role in the start-up, development and innovation of Viromed(Ltd). However, we can hardly find the role of Korean government in fostering the technology market, transferring the technological output to economic performance. Although the international networks with the British, American, and Japanese firms or investors were a key success factor of the growth of Viromed(Ltd), the role of the government in this policy area was not enough. As for the 'Hwang Project', we suggest that the government should consider the possibility of commercialization in choosing R&D projects and determining the size of financial aids. Since the evaluation of the Korean STIP is based on an individual firm, the results of the paper need to be confirmed by a systematic comparison with other cases or industries.

  • The MMIC (Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuit) self oscillating double conversion mixer was designed and fabricated for the V-band transmitter applications. The MMIC self oscillating double conversion mixer which dose not need external local oscillator was designed using GaAs PHEMT technology. The first self oscillating mixer use PHEMT technology. The first self oscillating mixer use PHEMT for $f_{LO}$ signal generation and $f_{IF}$ signal is applied at gate port and $f_{RF1}$ signal is generated at a drain port of first stage. The second gate mixer use PHEMT for $f_{LO}$ signal and $f_{RF1}$ signal is applied at gate port and $f_{RF2}$ signal is output at a drain port of second stage.
