성에제거 덕트 입구 가이드베인 형상이 노즐출구 유량분포특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of an Inlet Guide Vane on the Flowrate Distribution Characteristics of the Nozzle Exit in a Defrost Duct System)

  • Effects of the duct inlet guide vane on the flowrate distribution characteristics of the defroster nozzle exit in a defrost duct system were investigated experimentally to design the optimum heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system applied in an automotive compartment. A 3-dimensional hot-wire anemometer system was used to measure the velocity field in the vicinity of the defroster nozzle jet flow and the velocity distributions near the windshield interior surface. At first, two cases of with- and without-duct inlet guide vanes were considered as the test condition, and then three cases of the duct inlet guide vane were tested to determine the optimum guide vane shape and their positions. The arrangement of the duct inlet guide vanes has an effect on the improved flowrate distribution at the defroster nozzle exit and near the windshield interior surface. However, the application of the lots of guide vane to control the flow direction leads to increase the flow resistance, resulting in the decreased flowrate issuing from the defroster nozzle. The shape of the duct inlet guide vane affects not only the flowrate distribution between the driver side and the assistant driver side but also the reduction of the flow resistance in the defrost duct system.

  • An experimental study on the performance and instability development characteristics of a centrifugal compressor equipped with an adjustable inlet guide vane has been performed with varying guide vane angles. The test was conducted at the design speed of 20,800 rpm for 6 guide vane angles : $-30^{\circ},\;-20^{\circ},\;10^{\circ},\;0^{\circ},\;10^{\circ},\;20^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}$. Unsteady pressures were measured using high-frequency pressure transducers at the inducer to investigate the instability phenomena such as rotating stall and surge inside the compressor. From the unsteady measurements, it is found that the transient process from rotating stall to surge was mainly affected by inlet guide vane angles. The results of the present study can be applied to the instability control of the centrifugal compressors using a adjustable inlet guide vane.

The Lubrication Characteristics of the Vane Tip Under Inlet Pressure Boundary Conditions for an Oil Hydraulic Vane Pump

  • The lubrication modes of line contact between the vane and the camring in an oil hydraulic vane pump have been investigated. First, variations of the radial acting force of a vane were calculated from previously measured results of the dynamic internal pressure in four chambers surrounding a vane. Next, distinctions of the lubrication modes were made using Hooke's chart, which represents an improvement over Johnson's chart. Finally, the influence of boundary conditions in the lubrication region on fluid film lubrication was examined by calculating film pressure distributions. The results show that the lubrication modes of the vane tip are a rigid-variable viscosity region. This region discharges pressure higher than 7 MPa, and exerts a great influence on oil film pressure in the large arc section due to the Piezo-viscous effect.

  • During the operation, fatigue failures and cracks of duct plate due to excessive duct vibration occurred in the fan-duct systems of fossil fueled boilers. We measured static pressure variation(pressure pulsation) in the outlet, and also measured vibration at the outlet duct of a centrifugal fan. It was found that strong pressure Pulsation caused by the inlet vortex occurred in inlet vane of centrifugal fan in the middle range of vane opening. Thus, excessive duct vibration is caused by strong pressure pulsation. In this paper, it is shown that the frequency and amplitude of pressure pulsation depend mainly on vane opening and are compared with duct vibration. Also, effective solution for reducing pressure pulsation and vibration are presented.

  • The rocket technology has the best reliability and the high acceleration performance currently. In addition, next generation propulsion system is acquired to low cost and high payload percentage at that same time. This work is to improve the performance of Diskshaped MHD accelerator which is expected as the one of the solution. In this study we have been focusing on the swirl vane. It is so important to know that how the swirl vane contribute the plasma and its performance. As results, the gas velocities of r-component with inlet swirl were increased about over 3000m/s at the channel exit. And then static gas pressure were also reduced, we found that the case with inlet swirl gives the good influence to the acceleration performance. And the difference of the acceleration by positive and negative inlet swirl is that gas velocity of $\theta$-component may operate to the electric field.

  • Diverging channel from gas burner exit to the inlet section of Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) has been re-designed for 1 MW system. To improve the uniformity in velocity and temperature distribution of existing design(Case A and B) of 300 kW HRSG system, two additional test geometries have been chosen for the numerical simulation. At first, gas burner exit section has been centered to the inlet section of boiler(Case C) and uniformity has been improved considerably. Secondly, the diverging channel length can be further reduced for compact geometry with new guide vane design (Case D and E). Proposed design shows overall improvement in uniformity in velocity and temperature distribution compared to existing one.

바울형 미분기 베인휠에서의 유속 불균일 개선에 관한 연구 (Improvement of Maldistributed Air Velocity in the Vane Wheel of a Bowl Type Pulverizer)

  • The stability of coal pulverizer in the 800 MW coal-fired plants is vital to maintain their performance. Thus, this study analyzed the uneven abrasion of the deflector and coal spillage due to the air velocity maldistribution in the vane wheel of a bowl-type pulverizer as it is a possible cause for problems of facility using pulverized coal. In addition, air flow in the underbowl of a bowl-type pulverizer was studied to check air velocity maldistribution in the vane wheel using numerical method. In an attempt to correct the maldistribution of air velocity, air flow of the modified duct vane was studied as enlarging the length of the duct vanes installed at the air inlet duct of the pulverizer and increasing the angle of inclination. It was found that modified duct vane make the velocity distribution at the vane wheel uniform. formed by the duct vanes installed at the air inlet duct of the pulverizer and swirling flow is the major factor in making the velocity distribution of vane wheel exit uniform. This can prevent the uneven abrasion of the deflector, which is one of the components inside the pulverizer and coal spillage.
