Fisheries resources living in inland have continuously reduced due to over-fishing and development thoughtless for the environment. Inland fisheries that target the fisheries resources have been also confronted by several problems such as insufficiency of inland fisheries management systems, inconsistent fisheries management system, inferior infrastructure of inland fisheries, and decreasing fishermen's real income. These problems have demotivated fishermen who want to focus on fishing and farming activation. Therefore, this paper provides alternatives of reorganization for turning to sound and healthy inland fisheries industries by reviewing Korean inland fisheries management systems. The reorganization should be preferentially granted resource management by water system considering geographical conditions, seed release, and establishment of fisheries order for maintenance of sound and healthy inland fisheries. Also, the reorganization should be moved toward the competitive strengthening of "company unit" for inland fisheries, the nourishment of fisher-oriented fisheries management system, strong relationship among inland fishermen, the systematic management of inland fisheries, the strengthening of guidance service for inland fisheries, the extension of infrastructure related to fisheries production, the development of inland fisheries policy including public people, and the improvement of inland fisheries system and law reflecting various users of inland fisheries.
Purpose - This study investigates the impact of inland port development in China on the promotion of bilateral trade flows between China and South Korea. Design/methodology - The probable association between the establishment of inland ports and Sino-Korea trade was estimated using gravity models. In this regards, two sets of data were collected. The first dataset consists of the baseline variables of a gravity model, while the second one includes variables of logistics infrastructure development. The indicators of logistics infrastructure development include inland ports, the amount of government expenditure on transport infrastructure, the lengths of roads and railways, the number of trucks and the number of logistics industry workforce. Findings - The results show that inland port development has a positive impact on facilitating bilateral trade between China and South Korea. However, the positive association holds only for Chinese regions with a large trade volume and a proximity to seaports. In other regions, the impact of inland ports is not statistically significant. Originality/value - To the best knowledge of the authors, this study is the first attempt to explore the economic impact of inland ports in China. In addition, the findings in this paper provide both policy and managerial implications for the future development of inland ports, such as the strategic location of inland ports and integrated intermodal operations.

This study was conducted to evaluate the status of habitat distribution, environmental characteristics and plant species growing with Lonicera japonica in its habitats. In the distribution of plant coverage below 30%, it was 84.6% in the inland area and 80.7% in the seashore area. There was similar coverage in both inland and seashore areas. But the average relative coverage in the seashore area was 26.1%, which is a little higher than that of the inland area (22.5%). In the habitats, both inland and seashore areas showed a high distribution ratio below 10 degrees. But among them, inland areas showed a high distribution ratio (62.4%) below 10 degrees, which was about twice as much as the seashore areas (32.2%). Habitat distribution was most often found on the southern slopes in both inland and seashore areas. The average soil pH of Lonicera japonica habitat was 5.2 in the inland areas and 6.9 in the seashore areas. Also, the seashore areas showed little content of $P_2O_5$, but high content of K, Mg, Na on the other hand compared to the inland area. Miscanthus sinensis was the highest importance value (16.4) among plants growing with Lonicera japonica in their habitats in both inland and seashore areas. But in the inland areas, Artemisia princeps showed the highest importance value, and Miscanthus sinensis was the highest in the seashore areas.
This study was performed to evaluate the adaptability of farm field soil transplanting and habitat growth in inland and seashore areas of Artemisia capillaris in South Korea. In habitat, Artemisia capillaris was distributed both in the inland and seashore area as hemicryptophyte, and it grows individually on the slope of the open sunlight. The inland and seashore soils of habitat was the slightly acid and weakly alkaline, respectively. Plant height was 55.6 cm, and it was higher in inland than that of the seashore area. The stem and branch number was less in inland than that of the seashore area. Flowering period was mid-August, and flower of inland blossomed early 1 ~ 3 days than that of the seashore area. The flowering and fruiting rate was slightly lower in inland than that of the seashore area. After transplanting of Artemisia capillaris, plant height was 71.7 cm, and it was higher 16.1 cm than that of the habitat. The stem and branch number was more than that of the habitat, and flower blossomed early 3 ~ 4 days than that of the habitat. Transplanting survival rate was 85.1%, it was slightly higher in inland than that of the seashore area.
The purpose of this paper is to confirm the trend of inland water fish farming in North Korea and to suggest a plan for inter-Korean cooperation. North Korea's inland water fish farming laid the foundation for production in the 1950s and 1960s, and production facilities were expanded until 1980. In the midst of the severe economic crisis in the 1990s, North Korea paid attention to inland water fish farming as an alternative to food production. The military took the lead in expanding the aquaculture industry and catfish farming was encouraged. In the Kim Jong-un era, North Korea's inland fish farming continues the tradition of catfish farming and promotes a policy of expanding inland cage farming. This study comprehensively reviewed recent inter-Korean relations, North Korea's food crisis and acceptability, and UN sanctions. As a result, inland water fish farming is the most promising field for inter-Korean cooperation in the field of fisheries. In the initial stage of inter-Korean cooperation in the field of inland water fish farming, humanitarian aid projects such as feed and seed support can be promoted. In the stage of expanding inter-Korean cooperation, knowledge sharing program and materials and facilities support projects can be promoted. Development cooperation and direct private investment are possible at the full-scale stage.
This study is aimed to analyze fishermen's perception and the economic feasibility of inland waters ranching project on the branches of Geum River. Analysis of fishermen's perception on the branches of Geum River showed that fishermen had an affirmative response on the inland freshwater ranching project related issues such as fisheries resources enhancement, necessity of project, economic achievement as so on. The model of inland waters ranching project on the branches of Geum River is designed to fisheries resources enhancement, habitat compositiom, ecology tours, use and management of resources. The results of the economic feasibility of inland waters ranching project on the branches of Geum River were internal rate of return (IRR) was 18.43%, a benefit-cost ratio was shown to be 1.54, net present value (NPV) was 4,929 thousand won, which indicates the economic feasibility of inland waters ranching project.

Korea is not only surrounded by the sea on three sides, but also has national and local rivers extending 26,843 km, so it has a geographical feature in which abundant sea and inland water surface coexist. As the number of ships operating in the inland waters is continuously increasing due to the improvement of national income, the risk of ship accidents and human casualties in the inland waters is also increasing. In this study, a macroscopic plan for the safety management of inland water ships was presented through investigation of inland water related laws and operation status analysis. As an improvement plan, as a hardware infrastructure it is proposed to secure sufficient inland water fire-boats to secure the golden time for early response to accidents and lifesaving, and to operate an institution specializing in the prevention of inland water ships accidents. And as a software infrastructure, establish departure control standards for inland water ships and the safety diagnosis system currently applied only to sea going ships, the introduction of a system tailored to the characteristics of inland water ships. The proposed inland water safety management policy is expected to contribute to the preparation of prompt and systematic countermeasures in the event of an inland water ship accident, and it is hoped that it will serve as an opportunity to continue to pay attention to safety-related research on inland water ships, which was briefly activated after the sinking of M/V Sewol.
As China's economic growth pole has shifted from the coastal area to the Midwest and the inland since the beginning of 2000, construction of China's inland ports was promoted in the coastal area. The inland port functions as offshore port, thereby streamlining import and export logistics and customs clearance and so on. The purpose of this study is to identify the competitiveness and potential of China's inland ports via functional and geographical classification, as well as SWOT-PEST analysis. According to the results of the study, inland ports can be functionally categorized as sea port-based, industrial-based, distribution-based and customs clearance-based. The majority of the sea port-based inland ports are located in the eastern part of China while industry-based and distribution-based inland ports are situated in the Midwest. On contrast, the inland ports in Northwest mainly perform the function of customs clearance to promote international trade with neighbouring countries. The inland ports in the eastern region have high competitiveness owing to a large volume of international trade in the region, whereas those in the Midwest have high potential. The 'One Belt to One Road' initiative proposed by the Xi's Government is expected to play a significant role in promoting the development of inland ports in the Midwest and border areas.

In recent days, many manufacturing factories have been established and operated along riversides or on sea coasts. In consequence thereof, modern inland vessels with their small draught but large carrying capacity have been developed to operate as a single unit or in convoy with a barge. Knowledge in the behaviour of inland cargo vessels in shallow water exists presumably in U.S.A., U.S.S.R. and West Germany Literature available on this subject is quite limited. Model tests were carried out, both in calm water and in waves to obtain hull lines, which not only improve the seaworthiness of inland vessels but also permit to run in convey with other vessels on inland waterways. The results, which to some extent have also been tested in full scale, are entirely satisfactory. This paper discribes the resistance of some newly developed inland water cargo vessels.
Freshwater gobies Rhinogobius cliffordpopei and R. giurinus are invasive species with particular concern because they have become dominant and were fierce competitors in the invaded areas in Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau (southwest of China). Information about genetic characteristics of R. giurinus have been published, but there were still no relevant reports about R. cliffordpopei. In present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of R. cliffordpopei was determined, which was 16,511 bp in length with A+T content of 51.1%, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, 2 ribosomal RNAs, and a control region. The gene composition and the structural arrangement of the R. cliffordpopei complete mtDNA were identical to most of other teleosts. Phylogenetic analyses placed R. cliffordpopei in a well-supported monophyletic cluster with other Rhinogobius fish. But the phylogenetic relationship between genus Rhinogobius and Tridentiger remained to be resolved.
