  • A novel single cell gap transflective liquid crystal display was developed. By using the ink jet printing technology, we fabricated a transflective liquid crystal display with the hybrid alignment in the reflective region and the homogeneous alignment in the transmission region. Compared with the traditional technologies, our technology provided the advantages of easy process, high yield, fast throughput, and less material usage. We also applied this technology to the 2.4 inch prototype. This panel could be implemented in the handheld product applications.

  • The 6- inch electrowetting display (EWD) can be successfully developed by ink jet printing (IJP) technique. Due to the drop-on-demand characteristic of IJP technology, colored oil can be precisely dosed into the unit pixel. Here, we present the active matrix EWD in this article. By adopting this technique to dose different colored oils, single layer Multi-color EWD without adopting color filter can be achieved in the future.

  • 투명 전극에 사용되는 필름인 이방성전도필름은 전도성 입자를 재료로 하여 열 압착법으로 제조되고 있다. 하지만 열 압착법은 낭비되는 재료가 많고 공정이 복잡하다는 단점을 가지고 있으며, 이와 같은 단점을 극복하기 위해 전도성 입자 잉크를 이용한 잉크젯 프린팅 기술을 제안하였다. 잉크의 특성 및 프린팅 조건은 패터닝 선 두께에 영향을 주게 되며, 미세 패터닝을 위한 최적 조건 도출이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 전도성 입자 잉크를 제작하였으며, 노즐의 두께와 유량을 변화하여 패터닝 결과물을 제작하였고, 전도성 입자 잉크의 토출에 따른 전기전도도를 도출하였다.

  • In this study, characteristics of silver ink-jet printing were investigated under various substrate treatments such as substrate heating, hydrophobic coating, and ultraviolet(UV)/ozone soaking. Fluorocarbon(FC) film was spin-coated on the polyimide (PI) film substrate to obtain a hydrophobic surface. Although hydrophobicity of the FC film could reduce the diameter of the printed droplets, the singlet images printed on the FC film surface showed irregularities in the pattern size and the position of the printed droplet along with droplet merging phenomenon. The proposed UV/ozone soaking of the FC film improved the uniformity of the pattern size and the droplet position after printing and substrate heating was very effective way in preventing droplet merging. By heating of the substrate after UV/ozone soaking of the coated FC film, silver conductive lines of 78-116 ${\mu}m$ line were successfully printed at low substrate temperatures of $40^{\circ}C$.

근접장 전기방사 방식을 이용한 Ag 미세 패턴 형성 (A Study on fabrication of the Ag fine pattern using Near Field Electro Spinning(NFES))

  • These days, printed electronics attract attention from electronics industry. In this paper, the fabrication of the fine patterns by Near Field Electro Spinning (NFES) was studied by using Ag ink on silicon wafer (substrate). Two types of ink, the high viscous ink Ag-200 and low viscous ink Ag-15, were used. The fine and uniform patterns were easily fabricated by using Ag-200 because jet breakup is less occurred in high viscosity solution. As increasing flow rate of solution, aspect ratio of Ag pattern decreased. And there was optimum applied voltage for fine pattern. In case of Ag-200, the optimum applied voltage was about 2.02KV. When pattern was fabricated by NFES, the pattern width and height were affected by many factors such as viscosity, flow rate of solution, applied voltage etc.

  • In this work, highly conductive organic solvent-based polyaniline(PANI) was used as an anode in organic photovoltaic cells (OPV) based on poly - (3-hexylthiophene) and [6,6] - phenyl - C60 - butyricacid methyl ester (P3HT : PCBM). The transmittance of the used PANI film were 87.67% and 86.57% at 550nm, and its sheet resistance were 454 ${\Omega}/{\Box}$ and 298 ${\Omega}/{\Box}$. We fabricated ITO-free OPV cells using PANI as an anode, which exhibited an external power conversion efficiency of 2.28% with a result of Jsc of 6.922mA/cm2, Voc of 0.6093V, and FF of 54.10% under an illumination of air mass(AM) 1.5G (100mW/$cm^2$). We used ink-jet printing to deposit buffer layer and active layer on a glass substrate.

초음속 유동장에서의 충돌제트 특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on the characteristics of transverse jet into a supersonic flow field)

  • When a secondary gaseous flow is injected vertically into a supersonic flow through circular nozzle, a complicated structure of flow field is produced around the injection area. The interaction between the two streams produces a strong bow shock wane on the upstream side of the side-jet. The results show that bow shock wave and turbulent boundary layer interaction induces the boundary layer separation in front of the side-jet. This study is to analyze the structure of flow fields and distribution of surface pressure on the flat plate according to total pressure ratio using a supersonic cold-flow system and also to study the control force of affected side-jet. The nozzle of main flow was designed to have Mach 2.88 at the exit. The injector has a sonic nozzle with 4mm diameter at the exit of the side-jet. In experiments, The oil flow visualization using a silicone oil and ink was conducted in order to analyze the structure of flow fields around the side-jet. The flow fields are visualized using the schlieren method. In this study, a computational fluid dynamic solution is also compared with experimental results.

PEDOT:PSS기반 잉크젯 프린팅 스트레인 게이지의 제작 (Fabrication of Inkjet Printed Strain Gauge Using PEDOT:PSS)

  • This paper presents the Inkjet-printed strain gauge using PEDOT:PSS. The strain gauge (width 0.6 mm, length 20 mm, thickness $0.3{\mu}m$) was printed on the PET film using PEDOT:PSS ink. The resistance variation of the fabricated strain gauge was measured by the digital multi-meter with the displacement range of -4 to 10 mm. As the measured result, resistance variation (${\Delta}R/R_0$) has approximately 0.75%, linearity of 99.87%. The fabricated strain gauge is expected to the various applications such as tape type pressure sensor, PMS(pressure mapping sensor), wearable devices.

  • A novel ink-jet printing method was investigated for fine patterning of phosphor layer in PDP using a precision nozzle printing. A reverse emulsion method was developed for the synthesis of nano-sized phosphor powder that could be formulated in the phosphor ink. The composition of the phosphor ink including charge controlling agents, solvent, dispersant and nano-sized phosphor powder was optimized for the fine patterning of phosphor layer for high resolution PDP.
