Spray patterns were visualized using the shadowgraph method, and the droplet size and velocity were measured using PDPA for high-pressure injections up to 2,600 bars. The spray pattern and spray characteristics, such as penetration, spray width, spray angle, droplet size, injection duration, and droplet velocity, were investigated to determine the suitable injection pressure. Spray penetration, width, angle, and velocity increased continuously up to 2,600 bars with the injection pressure in a high-pressure region. The rate of improvement of the above spray characteristics, however, declined rapidly, when the injection pressure reached 2,000 bars. The injection duration and droplet size generally decreased with the increase in the injection pressure, while the rate of improvement decreased abruptly after 2,000 bars. Consequently, the improvement rate of the spray characteristics became blunt at over 2,000 bars. This means that the suitable injection pressure is around 2,000 bars.

The local regression rate behavior of solid fuel in swirl injection hybrid rocket were studied. In generally, axial injection regression rate was tending to be decrease with axial distance, beyond which increased with increasing axial distance from the leading edge. On the other hand, swirl injection regression rate was high at the leading edge of the fuel and comparatively uniform regression rate at the downstream. Overall regression rate of swirl injection was increased about 54% for the overall regression rate of axial injection. Through this study, it was found that using swirl injector was useful in applying to the small sounding rocket.

A computer simulation with predict the fuel injection rates and the fuel injection pressure behaviors in diesel engine fuel injection systems would by very useful in designing or improving fuel injection systems. In this paper we developed computer program in order to predict the behaviors of the fuel injection rate and the injection pressure for Electronic Hydraulic Ultra-High Pressure Fuel Injection System. We've applied the continuity and momentum equations for the hydraulic phenomena and the dynamics of individual components of the Electronic Hydraulic Fuel Injection System. To solve all the equations numerically we've applied the Runge-kutta IV method. Water hammer equations were applied for the hydraulic pipe solution, and the method of characteristics was employed in our calculations. The simulation results were compared with the experimental results for: Accumulator pressure, Injection pressure and unjection rate. As a result, The simulation results agree very well with our experimental results. We found that a large accumulator and the high speed solenoid valve were required, and the compression volume of the fuel had to be as small as possible in order to acheive ultra-high pressure fuel injection.
Purpose: A botulinum toxin type A (BoNT - A) injection has been used as a noninvasive management for lower face contouring since 2000. The aim of this study was to compare reduction rate of lower face width for a longtime according to repeated Botox$^{(R)}$ injections on masseter muscles for lower face contouring procedure. Methods: Forty - five patients were analyzed for single session of Botox$^{(R)}$ injection and 13 patients were evaluated for repeated Botox$^{(R)}$ injections for over two years. Single injection group was tracked regular intervals at 1, 3, 6, 10, 12 months after injection, and repeated injection group was measured at every injection time. Twenty - five to thirty units of Botox$^{(R)}$ was injected into each masseteric muscle at five to six points at the prominent portions of the mandibular angle. Standardized frontal view of digital photographs were analyzed by Adobe Photoshop$^{(R)}$ (version CS3) to measure an reduction rate of lower face width. Results: Reduction rate was 3.7%, 6.9%, 6.2%, 4%, 4% at 1, 3, 6, 10, 12 months post injection each other in single injection group. However, more than 8% reduction rate was found in repeated injection group persistently for more than two years. Conclusion: This study shows that effective duration of Botox$^{(R)}$ injection for lower face contouring is expected to continue over one year clinically. Moreover, repeated injections maintained lower reduction rate consistently for a long time. Therefore, repeated injections on masseter muscles at regular intervals are most effective procedure for lower face contouring.
Recently, 1-D model-based engine development using virtual engine system is getting more attention than experimental-based engine development due to the advantages in time and cost. Injection rate profile is the one of the main parameters that determine the start and end of combustion. Therefore, it is essential to set up a sophisticated model to accurately predict the injection rate as starting point of virtual engine system. In this research, procedure of 1-D model setup based on AMESim is introduced to predict the dynamic behavior and injection rate of diesel injector. As a first step, detailed 3D cross-sectional drawing of the injector was achieved, which can be done with help of precision measurement system. Then an approximate AMESim model was provided based on the 3D drawing, which is composed of three part such as solenoid part, control chamber part and needle and nozzle orifice part. However, validation results in terms of total injection quantity showed some errors over the acceptable level. Therefore, experimental work including needle movement visualization, solenoid part analysis and flow characteristics of injector part was performed together to provide more accuracy of 1-D model. Finally, 1-D model with the accuracy of less than 10% of error compared with experimental result in terms of injection quantity and injection rate shape under normal temperature and single injection condition was established. Further work considering fuel temperature and multiple injection will be performed.
Combustion oriented noise is a part of engine noise, which is mainly determined by the in-cylinder pressure profile and the structure attenuation of an engine. A numerical model for predicting the in-cylinder pressure profile and the resultant combustion noise developed by the use of a commercial code. The model is experimentally validated and updated based on the performance as well as the noise by considering the fuel injection timing, the fuel injection rate, Cetane number, intake temperature, and compression ratio. For providing a design guide of a fuel injector for a low combustion noise engine model, the optimal parameters of injection pressure profile, injection rate profile, and injection timing are determined, which gives the 5 dBA noise reduction.
This paper describes the characteristics of injection rate and macroscopic behavior of fuel spray injected from common-rail type diesel injectors with different nozzle geometries. The injection rates according to the nozzle geometries were measured at different energizing duration of the injector solenoid and injection pressure by using the Bosch's injection rate meter based on the pressure variation in the tube. The spray behaviors injected from the different nozzles were visualized using the spray visualization system composed of an Ar-ion laser, an ICCD camera, and a synchronization system at various injection and ambient pressures. It is revealed that VCO nozzle has higher spray tip velocity at the early stage of injection duration and wider spray cone angle than the mini-sac nozzles. Also the spray cone angle is increased with the increase of nozzle diameter.
This study evaluated the injection rate and the injection efficiency of the artificial recharge in the upper drought-prone watershed region, where the remaining water was used for injection, by using a numerical model to secure water during a drought. As a result of a numerical model under the condition of diverse injection rates per a well and hydraulic characteristics of the aquifer, the optimal injection rate per a well was estimated as 50.0 ㎥/day, and the injection efficiency was simulated as 33.2% to 81.2% of the total injection volume. As the injection time was shorter, the injection efficiency tented to increase non-linearly. As the injection rate increased, the residual storage in aquifer increased and available groundwater amount also increased, which could be advantageous for drought relief. For a more accurate assessment of injection efficiency, the model will be validated using the field injection data and optimum scenarios will enable the efficient operation of the artificial recharge system in the study area.

An experimental study was performed to investigate the characteristics of combustion pressure and exhaust emissions when the pilot injection timing and EGR rate were changed in a CRDI 4-cylinder diesel engine using bio-diesel blended fuel. The pilot injection timing and EGR rate have a significant impact on the combustion and emission characteristics of diesel engine. In this study, the pilot injection timing and EGR rate variation were conducted to 2000rpm of engine speed with fuel of bio-diesel blended rate 20%. In these experimental results, IMEP was shown maximum pressure at pilot injection timing BTDC$10^{\circ}$ combustion pressure and heat release rate were decreased in proportion to increase of EGR rate under the same pilot injection timing conditions. The NOx emission was decreased with increasing the EGR rate without influence on pilot injection timing. However, soot emission was reduced to a minimum at pilot injection timing BTDC$20^{\circ}$.

Weld line in injection molded part is one of the defects in injection molding process. Weld line deteriorates not only appearance quality but mechanical property. In this study, ABS and PP were used as experimental materials. And weld line length, depth and strength have been examined according to the injection molding conditions. As the results of experimental studies, weld line length increased as flow rate increases for all materials. And the flow rate is most influenced to the creation of weld line length. Also weld line strength increased, as flow rate and melt temperature increase for all materials. The whole experiment results was similar to CAE analysis results.
