버블 칼럼 광생물반응기의 내부 유동분석을 위한 전산유체역학 시뮬레이션 모델의 이용 (Utilization of CFD Simulation Model for a Bubble Column Photobioreactor)

  • Photobioreactor (PBR) that houses and cultivates microalgae providing a suitable environment for its growth, such as light, nutrients, CO2, heat, etc. is now getting more popular in the last decade. Among the many types of PBRs, the bubble column type is very attractive because of its simple construction and easy operation. However, despite the availability of these PBRs, only a few of them can be practically used for mass production. Many limitations still holdback their use especially during their scale-up. To enlarge the culture volume and productivity while supplying optimum environmental conditions, various PBR structures and process control are needed to be investigated. In this study, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was economically used to design a bubble-column type PBR taking the place of field experiments. CFD is a promising technique which can simulate the growth and production of microalgae in the PBR. To study bubble column PBR with CFD, the most important factor is the possibility of realizing bubble. In this study, multi-phase models which are generally used to realize bubbles were compared by theoretical approaches and comparing in a 2D simulation. As a result, the VOF (volume of fluid) model was found to be the most effective model to realize the bubbles shape as well as the flow inside PBR which may be induced by bubble injection. Considering the accuracy and economical efficiency, 0.005 second time step size was chosen for 2.5 mm mesh size. These results will be used as criteria for scale-up in the PBR simulation.

  • Recently, there are many cases to use a ship's engine performance analyzer(SEPA) to measure pressure in cylinder and top dead center(TDC) of piston of engine, and analyze its performance such as fuel injection time and horsepower as well as wear of piston ring. But, SEPA needs TDC pulses($T(1){\sim}T(n)$) generated when pistons of engine are located to the TDC position ($TDC(1){\sim}TDC(n)$), these pulses are gathered from sensors connected to gear wheel of the propeller shaft in the remote distance from the measurement point. Therefore, operators need a long wire cable(WRC) to TDC detecting sensor to get these pulses, but this method is a very uncomfortable and expensive in case of installation, and it might decrease user's purchase desire. In this paper, we design and fabricate a small and inexpensive MODEM cable(M0C) so that it may be available to transmit TDC pulse generated from sensor in propeller shaft through existing power line. We also verify the facts that this MOC can be applied to SEPA and the effectiveness of the system through the experiments.

슬라이딩 모드 관측기 기반 전지형 크레인의 조향입력 고장검출 알고리즘 (Sliding Mode Observer-based Fault Detection Algorithm for Steering Input of an All-Terrain Crane)

  • This paper presents a sliding mode observer-based fault detection algorithm for steering inputs of an all-terrain crane. All-terrain cranes with multi-axles have several steering modes for various working purposes. Since steering angles at the other axles except the first wheel are controlled by using the information of steering angle at the first wheel, a reliable signal of the first axle's steering angle should be secured for the driving safety of cranes. For the fault detection of steering input signal, a simplified crane model-based sliding mode observer has been used. Using a sliding mode observer with an equivalent output injection signal that represents an actual fault signal, a fault signal in steering input was reconstructed. The road steering mode of the crane's steering system was used to conduct performance evaluations of a proposed algorithm, and an arbitrary fault signal was applied to the steering angle at the first wheel. Since the road steering mode has different steering strategies according to different speed intervals, performance evaluations were conducted based on the curved path scenario with various speed conditions. The design of algorithms and performance evaluations were conducted on Matlab/Simulink environment, and evaluation results reveal that the proposed algorithm is capable of detecting and reconstructing a fault signal reasonably well.

직접분사식 소형 디젤엔진의 실린더내 스월 유동장에 미치는 흡기포트의 형상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effects of Intake Port Geometry on In-Cylinder Swirl Flow Field in a Small D.I. Diesel Engine)

  • This paper studies the effects of intake port configuration on the swirl that is key parameter in the flow field of direct injection diesel engines. In-cylinder flow characteristics is known to have significant effects on fuel air mixing, combustion and emissions. To investigate the swirl flow generated by various intake ports, steady state flow tests were conducted to evaluate the swirl. Helical port geometry, SCV shape and bypass were selected as the design parameters to increase the swirl flow and parametric study was performed to choose the optimal port shape that would generate a high swirl ratio efficiently. The results revealed that a key factor in generating a high swirl ratio was to suitably control the direction of the intake air flow passing through the valve seat. For these purposes, we changed the distance of helical and tangential port as well as installed bypass near the valve seat and the effects of intake port geometry on in-cylinder flow field were visualized by a laser sheet visualization method. From the experimental results, we found that the swirl ratio and mass flow rate had a trade off relation. In addition, the result indicates that the bypass is a effective method to increase the swirl ratio without sacrificing mass flow rate.

3,300V 1MVA H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터 개발 (Development of 3,300V 1MVA Multilevel Inverter using Series H-Bridge Cell)

  • 본 논문에서는 고압 대용량 전동기 구동용 멀티레벨 인버터의 종류 및 특징을 간략히 살펴보고, 특히 입출력 전력품질이 우수하고 전압별 시리즈화가 용이한 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터의 구조적 특징 및 장점을 기술하였다. 연구 개발된 3,300V lMVA 용량의 Cascaded H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터의 구체적인 전력회로 구조 및 설계방법, 제어기 구성 그리고 PWM 기법을 제시하였다. 또한, 실용량의 시험을 통해 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터는 출력 전압 Step이 여러 단계이고 dv/dt가 적으며 입력단 THD를 크게 낮출 수 있어 성능 면에서도 여타 방식보다 우수함을 입증하였다. 또한 생산적인 측면에서도 저압 소자를 사용하여 설계하므로 기존의 생산/시험 기술과 설비를 이용할 수 있어 매우 경제적이며 Power Cell 단위 결합 구조이므로 신뢰성 측면이나 보수/유지 측면에서도 유리하다는 결론을 얻었다.

  • 최근 다양한 공학 응용 분야에 Micro Shock Tube의 중요성이 커지고 있다. Pharma Ballistic 기술은 기존의 약물주입방법과 달리 약물입자를 가속하여 피부로 침투시키기 위해 Micro Shock Tube를 적용하는 기술 중 하나이다. 그러나 이러한 장치의 효율적인 설계를 위해서는 Micro Shock Tube 내부유동과 충격특성에 대한 상세한 지식을 필요로 한다. 경계층과 같은 많은 요소들 때문에 Micro Shock Tube 내부의 낮은 Reynolds Number와 높은 Knudsen Number가 형성되며, 이 때의 충격파 전파는 기존의 Macro Shock Tube와 상이하게 나타난다. 본 연구에서는 Micro Shock Tube에서의 충격파 전파와 유동특성을 조사하기 위해 직경 3mm의 Micro Shock Tube를 이용하여 실험을 수행하였으며, 압력은 저압관의 세 지점에서 측정되었다. 충격파 속도와 같은 다른 변수들의 실험값으로부터 충격파 강도를 찾고 충격파 선도를 나타내었다.

Designing a novel mRNA vaccine against Vibrio harveyi infection in fish: an immunoinformatics approach

  • Vibrio harveyi belongs to the Vibrio genus that causes vibriosis in marine and aquatic fish species through double-stranded DNA virus replication. In humans, around 12 Vibrio species can cause gastroenteritis (gastrointestinal illness). A large amount of virus particles can be found in the cytoplasm of infected cells, which may cause death. Despite these devastating complications, there is still no cure or vaccine for the virus. As a result, we used an immunoinformatics approach to develop a multi-epitope vaccine against most pathogenic hemolysin gene of V. harveyi. The immunodominant T- and B-cell epitopes were identified using the hemolysin protein. We developed a vaccine employing three possible epitopes: cytotoxic T-lymphocytes, helper T-lymphocytes, and linear B-lymphocyte epitopes, after thorough testing. The vaccine was developed to be antigenic, immunogenic, and non-allergenic, as well as having a better solubility. Molecular dynamics simulation revealed significant structural stiffness and binding stability. In addition, the immunological simulation generated by computer revealed that the vaccination might elicit immune reactions in the actual life after injection. Finally, using Escherichia coli K12 as a model, codon optimization yielded ideal GC content and a higher codon adaptation index value, which was then included in the cloning vector pET2+ (a). Altogether, our experiment implies that the proposed peptide vaccine might be a good option for vibriosis prophylaxis.

Analysis of control rod driving mechanism nozzle rupture with loss of safety injection at the ATLAS experimental facility using MARS-KS and TRACE

  • Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has operated an integral effect test facility, the Advanced Thermal-Hydraulic Test Loop for Accident Simulation (ATLAS), with reference to the APR1400 (Advanced Power Reactor 1400) for tests for transient and design basis accidents simulation. A test for a loss of coolant accident (LOCA) at the top of the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) had been conducted at ATLAS to address the impact of the loss of safety injections (LSI) and to evaluate accident management (AM) actions during the postulated accident. The experimental data has been utilized to validate system analysis codes within a framework of the domestic standard problem program organized by KAERI in collaboration with Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety. In this study, the test has been analyzed by using thermal-hydraulic system analysis codes, MARS-KS 1.5 and TRACE 5.0 Patch 6, and a comparative analysis with experimental and calculation results has been performed. The main objective of this study is the investigation of the thermal-hydraulic phenomena during a small break LOCA at the RPV upper head with the LSI as well as the predictability of the system analysis codes after the AM actions during the test. The results from both codes reveal that overall physical behaviors during the accident are predicted by the codes, appropriately, including the excursion of the peak cladding temperature because of the LSI. It is also confirmed that the core integrity is maintained with the proposed AM action. Considering the break location, a sensitivity analysis for the nodalization of the upper head has been conducted. The sensitivity analysis indicates that the nodalization gave a significant impact on the analysis result. The result emphasizes the importance of the nodalization which should be performed with a consideration of the physical phenomena occurs during the transient.

국내 원자력발전소의 LOCA사고에 따른 pH 분석 (Analysis of Post-LOCA pH for Korea Nuclear Units)

  • 국내원자력 발전소중 고리 1호기 및 5,6호기의 LOCA 사고시 격납용기 살수용액과 썸프 용액의 pH값이 US NRC에서 요구하는 설계기준치를 만족하는가를 알아보기 위해 전산프로그램 “LOCAPH”를 개발하여 최대 pH경우와 최소 pH경우로 나누어 분석하였다. 고리 5,6호기의 경우, 썸프 용액의 pH는 설계기준(최소 8.5이상)을 잘 만족하고 있으며, 살수 용액의 pH는 설계기준(8.5에서 11.0사이)을 약간 벗어나고 있음을 볼 수 있었다. 그러나 고리 1호기의 경우를 보면 썸프 용액의 pH는 역시 설계기준을 잘 만족하고 있으나 살수 용액의 pH는 최대 pH 경우에 있어서 현재 설계에 반영되고 있는 설계기준을 상당히 벗어나고 있음을 알 수 있었다.(고리 1호기 설계시 살수 용액의 pH에 대한 설계 기준치는 없었음) 설계 기준을 만족시키기 위해 고리 1호기의 설계변수를 바꾸어가며 계산해 본 결과 격납용기 살수 용액의 공급원인 핵연료 재장전수 저장탱크(RWST)의 붕소 농도를 2750ppm에서 2850ppm 사이로 유지하거나, 격납용기 살수 용액에 첨가되는 NaOH의 유량을 10gpm에서 24gpm사이로 유지해야 함을 알 수 있었다.

주요 영향요소를 고려한 쉴드TBM 터널 3차원 수치해석기법 연구 (Study on the 3 dimensional numerical analysis method for shield TBM tunnel considering key factors)

  • 쉴드TBM 터널을 대상으로 하는 3차원 수치해석은 gap, tail void, 세그먼트설치, 뒤채움재 주입 등과 같은 쉴드TBM 굴착의 여러 특성들을 고려하여 시공과정을 반영할 수 있는 해석이 수행되어야 한다. 그러나 기계 굴착의 특성을 고려하는 해석적 기법은 여러가지 기법들이 혼용되어 적용되는 것이 일반적으로 해석결과의 일관성과 신뢰도에 의문이 제기된다. 본 논문에서는 쉴드TBM 터널의 3차원 수치해석에 사용될 수 있는 여러 기법들을 대상으로 현장에서 실제 계측된 지표침하 데이터를 활용한 매개변수연구를 수행하였다. 그 결과 설계단계에서 지표침하와 막장압 등 터널주변지반의 거동을 유사하게 예측하고 평가하는데 활용할 수 있는 해석기법으로서 분석하고 정리하였다. skin plate 주면압, 뒤채움압과 soil model이 지표침하에 가장 큰 영향요소로 파악되었고, 응력제어기법은 해저터널과같이 굴착지반의 volume loss 정보를 얻을 수 없거나 지표침하나 막장압 등 터널 주변거동파악이 중요한 경우에 적용 가능한 것으로 판단되며, 설계자는 현장여건과 쉴드TBM의 특성이 반영된 합리적인 3차원 수치해석을 수행하는데 본 가이드라인을 기본자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
