승용 디젤 엔진에서 분사 전략이 배출 가스 및 엔진 성능에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effect of Injection Strategy on the Exhaust Emission and Performance Characteristics of a Light-duty Diesel Engine)

  • This paper described the effect of the multiple injections on the emission characteristics and combustion stability in a common rail diesel engine. In order to investigate the influence of multiple injections in a passenger car diesel engine, the injection strategy was varied with pilot injection, post injection and one main injection at various conditions. Based on the experimental results, the combustion and emissions characteristics were analyzed for the various injection strategies such as main, pilot-main, double-pilot-main, double- pilot-main-post injection strategy. It is revealed that the $NO_X$, HC and CO emissions are reduced by double pilot and post injection at medium load, however, soot emission is increased. Also, in the case of multiple injection, the combustion pressure is increased smoothly near the TDC and the coefficient of variation and fuel consumptions are decreased.

  • The performance of injection molding machine's control system, such as reproducibility, repeatability, etc, is widely studied nowadays. Since screw stroke, injection cylinder body pressure and barrel temperature are the most important terms of injection unit, interval linearity and repeatability to each parameter are analyzed here. Barrel temperature is analyzed according to the repeatability of the thermocouple at $150^{\circ}C$, $210^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$ using a precise oven. The result temperature is within ${\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ Through the reliability evaluation of the most important terms of injection unit, the method of evaluating the linearity and repeatability is proposed and verified.

  • The high pressure common rail injection system offers a high potential for improving emmisions and performance characteristics in large direct diesel engines. High pressures in the common rail with electronic control allows the fuel quantity and injection timing to be optimized and controlled throughout a wide range of engine rpm and load conditions. In this study, high pressure supply pump, common rail, pipes, solenoid and control chamber, and nozzle were modeled in order to predict needle lift, rate of injection, and total injected fuel quantity. When the common rail pressure is raised up to 13.0 ㎫ and the targer injection duration is 1.0ms, the pressure drop in common rail is about 5.0㎫. The angle of effective pressurization is necessary to be optimized for the minimum pump drive torque and high pressure in common rail depending on the operating conditions. The characteristics of injection were also greatly influenced by the pressures in common rail, the areas of the inlet and exit orifice of the control chamber.

  • Combustion oriented noise is a part of engine noise, which is mainly determined by the in-cylinder pressure profile and the structure attenuation of an engine. A numerical model for predicting the in-cylinder pressure profile and the resultant combustion noise developed by the use of a commercial code. The model is experimentally validated and updated based on the performance as well as the noise by considering the fuel injection timing, the fuel injection rate, Cetane number, intake temperature, and compression ratio. For providing a design guide of a fuel injector for a low combustion noise engine model, the optimal parameters of injection pressure profile, injection rate profile, and injection timing are determined, which gives the 5 dBA noise reduction.

  • It is necessary to improve the pattern replication and birefringence in LGP(Light guide panel) for better optical performance. In the present paper, the effects of injection-compression and injection-press mode with normal injection mold on the distribution of transcription of pattern and birefringence were studied. It was found that the values of pattern replication was improved and the birefringence was reduced for the cases of low initial clamping force in injection-compression mode and for the cases of longer mold opening length in injection-press mode, repectively.

  • The improvement in OLEDS performance is correlated with the surface chemical composition, hole injection and electron injection. In this study, a new hole injection material, HIL202(NPB derivatives), was synthesized and the devices with the structure of ITO/HIL202/NPB/$Alq_3$/Liq/Al were fabricated. The devices with a new hole injection material showed the improved current density, luminance and life time then the NPB or conventional hole injection material based OLEDs, due to the improved adhesion morphology between ITO surface and hole injection material.

초고압 연료분사장치 디젤기관의 연소특성에 관한 연구(I) (A Study on the Combustion Characteristics of Ultra High Pressure Fuel Injection System in a Diesel Engine(I))

  • The purposes of this study were to evaluate engine performance and to analyze smoke emission characteristics for varied injection pressures and engine operating conditions of an electronically-controlled ultra high pressure fuel injection system(UHPFIS). It was discovered that the engine performance with the present UHPFIS was far better than what was initially expected. And the UHPFIS permitted engine operation at air/fuel ratios richer than 20 : 1 without increasing smoke emissions. It was discovered that the indicated mean effective pressure was increased, while the specific fuel consumption and the amount of soot were decreased, as the fuel rail pressures were improved atomization of the fuel spray. As the intake air temperature was increased from $38\sim205^{\circ}C$ in 38 degree increments, the indicated mean effective pressure was dropped while the specific fuel consumption was increased.

  • The objective of this paper is to quantitatively investigate the effects of alcohol mixture on the combustion improvement of main fuel in supplying alcohol to direct injection diesel engine by auxiliary injection method and blend method. If alcohol is supplied, engine performance greatly improves in high load range. In case of supplying ethanol, BSFC improves, the emission of smoke and NO decreases by delaying main fuel injection timing 5$\^{C}$A. The maximum delivery quantity of alcohol is limited to approximately 50% of total fuel delivery due to misfire and knocking. The limit quantity of main fuel injection that does not accompany misfire and the deterioration of BSFC was approximately 15∼18.5mg/st.

  • Numerical analysis for the combustion flow in the combustion chamber of incineration system has been carried out in order to acquire the basic design capability of incineration system. Established mathematical model was applied to the performance prediction of the pre-designed combustion chamber of commercial plant. Especially, combustion characteristics and the variation of flow pattern have been deeply discussed in accordance with secondary air injection. Secondary air injection was effective for the turbulent mixing between air and carbon monoxide/volatile matter resulting in considerably reduced CO content at the exit. Secondary air injection was found to be one of the key design parameters because the size of recirculation zone could be changed with the variation of injection characteristics.

  • The performance of a direct-injection type diesel engine often depends on the shape of combustion chamber, strength of swirl or squish, the number of nozzle holes, etc. This is of course because the process of combustion in the cylinder was affected by the mixture formation process. In this paper, the relation betweeen the flame progress and the performance of engine was clarified by changing variously the combustion process in cylinder with a special method, and thus the measures for improving the combustion were indirectly examined. Namely it was investigated what effect the flame progress in cylinder, which was varied with the locality of the lean premixture injected by the auxiliary injection method using an auxiliary injection nozzle in advance at the place where main spray was injected later, has on the engine output, the exhaust smoke density and the NO concentration in exhaust gas.
