Study on the Design Optimization to Improve Injection Molding Performance of Plastic Regulator Rail (플라스틱 레귤레이터 레일 성형 최적화연구)

  • Injection molding product is commonly used for reducing the weight of automotive vehicle, and door regulator guide rail with plastic material is also made by injection molding process. In order to improve the injection molding performance of plastic regulator guide rail, optimal molding condition is suggested by numerical simulation and DOE after obtaining the sensitivity of parameters for regulator rail manufacturing on warpage and fill time. Furthermore, multi direct gate method and optimal cooling circuit are introduced to get the uniform temperature distribution and better cooling efficiency in molding product. The effect of the proposed design on the injection molding performance is verified by the test of prototype of plastic regulator guide rail.

A Study on the Filling Pattern Imbalance by Width of Gate in the Thin Plate Injection Molding (박판 사출 성형에서 게이트 폭에 따른 충전 불균형에 대한 연구)

  • Recently, the injection-molded products are lighter, and thinner than ever. In this work, Injection molding simulation was conducted to analysis the filling pattern imbalance in high speed injection molding process for thin-wall injection component, 8 inches LGP. Numerical analysis shows that shear heated polymer near the side wall causes filling imbalance between center and side of cavity. Short shot experiments were conducted and compared with simulation results. Filling imbalance ratio showed a tendency to increase for wider fan gate.

  • Surface defects in injection molded parts due to the unsteady flow are related to the dimension of gate, operational conditions and rheological properties of polymer. In this study we have examined surface defects in injection molding for PC, PBT and PC/ABS alloy with several injection speeds. We have used various cavity shapes that are tensile, flexural and impact test specimens with various gate and cavity thicknesses. Through this study we have observed that the formation of surface defect associated with jetting during filling stage in injection molding is strongly related to not on]v die swell but retardation of die swell. Large die swell eliminates jetting however the large retardation of die swell stimulates jetting. Reducing the thickness ratio of cavity to gate can reduce or eliminate jetting and surface defects. It also enlarges process window that can produce steady flow of polymer melt in injection molding.

  • A Study on Effects of the Runner and the Gate of double shot injection molded Parts using CAE Double shot injection molding can inject two different materials or two different colors in the same mold in a injection molding process. Double shot injection molded parts can be characterized that the base part maintains strength and specified part can inject soft-material. It can reduce the production cost by single automatic operations. In this paper, we designed double shot injection mold for automobile emote control To inject secondary part, this part is used as an insert after external appearance of product is injected. CAE analysis was progressed gate location and runner size as variables. The analysis result is reflected in mold design process. As a result, it could solve problems which are generated in the conventional mold. Additionally, cost can be downed by reducing runner weight. As well as it could omit painting process because the surface of finished product is improved through new mold.

  • The production processes were reviewed through the injection analysis of the shift lever as a core component of an auto lever installed in the automatic transmission of cars. The injection analysis was carried out for the shift lever and rod among the components in a shift lever module. The shift lever and rod are designed for injection molding with the insertion of a tube, a pin cable plate, and a steel rod for securing the strength of the product. The charging time, failure of injection molding, weld line, air trap, and deformation were reviewed according to this insert. Analyses on various gate positions were carried out for reviewing the cultivation and deformation of fiber around major components, such as the generation section of manipulation feeling and assembly section, so that optimal gate conditions might be reviewed and reflected in the mold design. Finally, we plan to compare the analysis results with the production of trial products.

  • The synthesis of gates of injection-molded parts has been done empirically, since it requires profound knowledge about the gate design,. which is not available to designers through current CAD systems. GATEWAY is a knowledge module which contains knowledge to Permit non-experts as well as mold design experts to generate acceptable gate design of injection-molded parts. A knowledge-based CAD system is constructed by adding the knowledge module, GATEWAY, for gate synthesis and appropriate CAE programs for mold design analysis to an existing geometric modeler to provide designers, at the initial stage, with comprehensive process knowledge for gate synthesis.   • The injection molding technique is a processing method widely used for the production of plastic parts. In this study, the gate position, gate size, packing time, and melt temperature were optimized to minimize both the stress and deformation that occur during the injection molding process of medical suction device components. We used a central composite design and Latin hypercube sampling to acquire the data and adopted the response surface method as an approximation method. The efficiency of the optimization of the injection molding problem was determined by comparing the results of a genetic algorithm, sequential quadratic programming, and a non-dominant classification genetic algorithm.

  • Injection molding process is one of the most important methods to produce plastic parts with high efficiency and low cost. The objective of this study is to implement the best plastic injection molding process for LED TV speaker frame. Moldflow analysis and simulation of plastic injection molding process were carried out in order to predict optimal modeling operation conditions and then injection molded part was produced various type of resin temperature, filling time and injection pressure variation. the result was that the best injection molding condition is set as 60bar pressure, 2sec filling time and $310^{\circ}C$ degree. The study result would be useful to variety of plastic injection molding process.
