Research on the support of larger broken gateway based on the combined arch theory

  • The excavation broken zones (EBZ) of gateways is a significant factor in determining the stability of man-made opening. The EBZ of 55 gateways with variety geological conditions were measured using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). The results found that the greatly depth of EBZ, the smallest is 1.5 m and the deepest is 3.5 m. Experimental investigations were carried out in the laboratory and in the coal mine fields for applying the combined arch support theory to large EBZ. The studies found that resin bolts with high tensile strength and good bond force could provide high pretension force with bolt extensible anchorage method in the field. Furthermore, the recently invented torque amplifier could greatly improve the bolt pretension force in poor lithology. The FLAC3D numerical simulation found that the main diffusion sphere of pretension force was only in the free segment zone of the surrounding rock. Further analysis found that the initial load-bearing zone thickness of the combined arch structure in large EBZ could be expressed by the free segment length of bolt. The using of high mechanical property bolts and steel with high pretension force will clearly putting forward the bolt length selection rule based on the combined arch support theory.

결막 충혈도 측정을 위한 공막 영상 분할 (Sclera Segmentation for the Measurement of Conjunctival Injection)

  • 결막 충혈은 결막염, 각막염, 포도막염 등의 안과질환의 초기 증세로서 정량적으로 평가할 수 있다면 진단과 경과 관찰에 도움이 된다. 충혈의 정량화에서 공막의 크기는 중요한 지표이지만 기존의 공막 분할 방법이 정확하지 않기 때문에 수동으로 분할하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 충혈의 정량화를 위하여 level set 방법을 이용한 공막 분할 알고리즘을 제안한다. Level set의 초기 모델은 Lab 색상 모드와 k-means 알고리즘, 기하학적인 정보를 이용하여 지정된다. 헤이시안(hessian) 분석으로 공막과 피부 사이의 골을 향상시킨 영상에 level set을 적용하였다. 제안 방법의 성능 측정을 위하여 52개의 전안부 영상에 대하여 실험하였다. 실험 결과, 제안 방법이 화소값만 이용하는 region growing이나 level set의 초기 모델로 임의의 원을 이용하는 방법보다 성능이 우수하였다. 이 논문에서 제안한 공막 분할 방법은 객관적인 충혈도 측정에서 중요한 요소 기술의 역할을 할 것이다.

Effects of Short-Term Treatment with Estrogen Receptor Agonist on Morphological Changes in Reproductive Organs of Adult Male Mice

  • Male reproductive organs are strongly affected by estrogen signaling mediated via the estrogen receptor. In this study, propyl pyrazole triol (PPT), an estrogen receptor alpha agonist, was subcutaneously injected in adult male mice every 2 days for a total duration of 8, 16, or 24 days. Histological changes in the reproductive organs, including the testes, efferent ductules, and epididymides, were observed. The weight of the reproductive organs decreased in the PPT group. In addition, the diameter of the seminiferous tubules decreased in the PPT group compared with the control group. The epithelial cell height decreased in the initial segment of the epididymis, whereas the luminal diameter increased in the efferent ductules of the PPT group. PPT induced irregular morphology of stereocilia in the luminal region of the initial segment. Therefore, PPT treatment at high concentrations had inhibitory effects in the reproductive organs of adult male mice. These findings suggest that short-term treatment with estrogen receptor agonist causes histological changes in the testes, efferent ductules, and epididymis, which are similar to those caused by estrogen receptor antagonist treatment. Therefore, the estrogen receptor may have functional roles in male reproductive organs, implying that treatment with an estrogen receptor agonist can affect male fertility.

Expressional Modulation of Aquaporin 1 and 9 in the Rat Epididymis by an Anabolic-Androgenic Steroid, Nandrolone Decanoate

  • The spermatozoa become mature in the epididymis which is divided into initial segment and caput, corpus, and cauda epididymis. The water movement across the epididymal epithelium is important for creating luminal microenvironment for sperm maturation. Aquaporins (Aqps) are water channel proteins, and expression of Aqps is regulated by androgens. The current research was focused to examine expressional regulation of Aqp1 and Aqp9 by an androgenic-anabolic steroid, nandrolone decanoate (ND). The ND at the low dose (2 mg/kg body weight/week) or high dose (10 mg) was subcutaneously administrated into male rats for 2 or 12 weeks. Transcript levels of Aqp1 and Aqp9 were determined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analyses. In the initial segment, level of Aqp1 was decreased with 12 week-treatment, while Aqp9 level was decreased by the high dose treatment for 12 weeks. In the caput epididymis, Aqp9 expression was decreased by the low dose treatment. The 2 week-treatment resulted in an increase of Aqp1 level but a decrease of Aqp9 expression in the corpus epididymis. In the corpus epididymis, the 12 week-treatment at the low dose caused the reduction of Aqp1 and Aqp9 levels, but the high dose treatment resulted in an increase of Aqp1 expression and a decrease of Aqp9 level. In the cauda epididymis, Aqp1 expression was decreased by 2 and 12 week-treatments, while increases of Aqp9 levels was detected with the high dose treatment for 2 weeks and with 12 week-treatment. These findings indicate differential regulation of Aqp1 and Aqp9 expression among epididymal segments by ND.

FINE SEGMENTATION USING GEOMETRIC ATTRACTION-DRIVEN FLOW AND EDGE-REGIONS

  • A fine segmentation algorithm is proposed for extracting objects in an image, which have both weak boundaries and highly non-convex shapes. The image has simple background colors or simple object colors. Two concepts, geometric attraction-driven flow (GADF) and edge-regions are combined to detect boundaries of objects in a sub-pixel resolution. The main strategy to segment the boundaries is to construct initial curves close to objects by using edge-regions and then to make a curve evolution in GADF. Since the initial curves are close to objects regardless of shapes, highly non-convex shapes are easily detected and dependence on initial curves in boundary-based segmentation algorithms is naturally removed. Weak boundaries are also detected because the orientation of GADF is obtained regardless of the strength of boundaries. For a fine segmentation, we additionally propose a local region competition algorithm to detect perceptible boundaries which are used for the extraction of objects without visual loss of detailed shapes. We have successfully accomplished the fine segmentation of objects from images taken in the studio and aphids from images of soybean leaves.

Bupivacaine 주입에 의한 지속적 경부경막외마취의 임상적 연구 (Clinical Study of Continuous Cervical Epidural Anesthesia with Bupivacaine)

  • Continuous cervical epidural anesthesia with two different concentrations of bupivacaine had been performed in 43 cases for surgery of upper extremity and cervical spine. After the initial dose of 0.33% bupivacaine 15ml to Group I(n=22) and 0.5% bupivacaine 15ml to Group II(n=21) was injected respectively, we observed the circulatory and pulmonary functions to be changed, and evaluated the duration of those analgesic action. The number of spinal segment to be affected and the complications were checked. Statistical significance of changes after the initial dose in both groups was determined by student's t-test. All values are impresed as mean$\pm$1S.D.. The results were as follows: 1) Circulatory functions; Systolic B.P. and Pulse rate were decreased by 10~15torr and 5~6 beats per minute respectively between 10~30 minutes following the initial dose, which were statistically significant in both groups. 2) Pulmonary functions; The diminution of minute volume showed to 20% and a rise of $PaCO_2$ level to 5~6 torr respectively between 30~60 minutes following the initial dose, which were statistically significant in both groups. There were no significant changes in self respiration and respiratory rate in both groups. 3) The duration of analgesic action was $72.3{\pm}25.7$(min) in Group I and $83.5{\pm}28.5$(min) in Group II which was not statistically significant between two groups, and the number of affected spinal segment at ore hour following the Anesthusia was $8.7{\pm}2.0$ in Group I and $10.5{\pm}2.4$ in Group II which was statistically significant between two groups. 4) Complications; a. Hypotension(below 80torr in systolic pressure) was appeared in 5% of all patients. b. Bradycardia(below 60 beats per minutes) was appeared in 25% of all patients. c. Inadvertent dural puncture was developed in only one patient, In conclusion, the 0.33% bupivacaine as well as 0.5% bupivacaine were enough for those analgesic effect in the above mentioned surgery even though the duration of analgesic action was about 10 minutes shorter in Group I than that of Group II. The cardiopulmonary function was clinically rather stable in Group I than that of Group II. Therefore we thought 0.33% bupivacaine was satisfactory for the clinical practicality in the cervical epidural anesthesia.

Effect of Chemical Structure on the Properties of UV-cured Polyurethane Acrylates Films

  • The effect of compositions of isophorone diisocyanate (IPDl)/4.4'-diphenylmethane diisocyalate (MDI) and polypropylene oxide diol (PPG, $M_w$: 3000)/1,4-butane diol (BD) on the properties of UV-cured polyurethane acrylate films based on 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (HEA) was examined. UV-curable polyurethane acrylates were formulated from the prepolymer. trimethylol propane triacrylate (TMPTA) as a reactive diluent, and 1-hydroxycyclohexyl ketone (Irgacure 184) as a photoinitiator. Dynamic mechanical thermal properties and elastic properties of UV-cured polyurethane acrylates was fecund to depend on the chemical composition of IPDl/MDl and PPG/BD. As the BD content increased, the tensile storage modulus of all series samples increased significantly. The storage modulus increased in the order of samples A (IPDI based samples)> samples B (IPDI/MDl (7/3 molar ratio) based samples) > samples C (IPDI/MDl (5/5 molar ratio) based samples at the same composition. Two distinct louts modulus peaks for all samples are observed owing to the softs segment glass transition temperature ($T_gh$) and hard segment glass transition temperature ($T_gh$). The difference between $T_gh$, and $T_gh$, (Δ$T_g$) increases in the order of A > B > C at the same composition. In cycle test, the initial onset strain (%) was found to decrease with increasing BD content in PPG/BD and with increasing MDI content in IPDI/MDl.

RANS 기반의 세장체 이론을 이용한 선형 조종 유체력 미계수 추정에 관한 연구 (Prediction Method for Linear Maneuvering Hydrodynamic Derivatives Using Slender Body Theory Based on RANS)

  • It is important to predict the hydrodynamic maneuvering derivatives, which consist of the forces and moment acting on a hull during a maneuvering motion, when estimating the maneuverability of a ship. The estimation of the maneuverability of a ship with a change in the stern hull form is often performed at the initial design stage. In this situation, a method that can reflect the change in the hull form is necessary in the prediction of the maneuverability of the ship. In particular, the linear hydrodynamics maneuvering derivatives affect the yaw checking motion as the key factors. In the present study, static drift calculations were performed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) based on Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes (RANS) for a 40-segment hull. A prediction method for the linear hydrodynamic maneuvering derivatives was proposed using the slender body theory from the distribution of the lateral force acting on each segment of the hull. Moreover, the results of a comparison study to the model experiment for KVLCC1 performed by KRISO are presented in order to verify the accuracy of the static drift calculation. Finally, the linear hydrodynamic maneuvering derivatives obtained from both the model test and calculation are compared and presented to verity the usefulness of the method proposed in this study.

개선된 스네이크를 이용한 얼굴 특징요소의 윤곽 추출 (Contour Extraction of Facial Features Based on the Enhanced Snake)

  • 얼굴 요소의 윤곽을 추출하는 대표적인 방법 중의 하나는 스네이크다. 스네이크는 간단하고 빠르지만 초기 윤곽 및 개체 형태에 따라 성능이 결정된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 스네이크 세그먼트의 중간 위치에 스네이크 포인트를 추가하는 방법으로 윤곽을 더 정확하게 추출할 수 있는 개선된 스네이크를 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 6개의 입과 눈 실험 영상에 적용하여 Greedy 스네이크보다 RSD가 2.8%에서 5.8% 정도 감소하였다. 특히 RSD 감소는 대부분 심한 굴곡이 갖는 윤곽 영역에서 얻음으로써 더 정확한 윤곽 추출을 실험을 통해 확인하였다.

리눅스 환경에서 SCTP와 TCP 프로토콜의 성능 비교 (Performance Comparison of SCTP and TCP over Linux Platform)

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 망 환경에서 SCTP 및 TCP 프로토콜의 전송처리율(throughput) 성능을 비교 분석한다. 실험을 위해 리눅스 테스트베드를 구축하고 성능측정 변수로써 MSS(Maximum Segment Size), 전송지연, 패킷 손실률을 고려하였다. 또한, SCTP 세션의 스트림(stream) 수가 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 실험 결과, 동일한 망 환경에서 SCTP는 TCP에 비해 $20%{\sim}50%$ 정도의 높은 처리율을 제공하는데 이는 SCTP의 고유특성인 청크번들링(chunk bundling), 2 MTU로 시작하는 혼잡윈도우, SACK 기반 오류제어 등에서 기인한다. 한편, 패킷 손실이 존재하는 망에서 SCTP는 멀티스트리밍(multi-streaming) 전송을 통해 HoLB(Head-of-Line Blocking) 현상을 효과적으로 방지할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
