Study on the MTTF of Multi Wave Lengths IR and NIR LEDs Module (다파장 IR과 NIR 모듈의 평균 수명 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, infrared (IR) and near-infrared (NIR) light-emitting diodes (LEDs) were widely used for home medical applications owing to its low output power and wide exposed area for curing. For deep penetration of the light under the skin, multiple LEDs with wavelengths of 700~10,000 nm were located on a flexible printed circuit board. When multiple wavelengths of LEDs were soldered on a circuit board, the lifetime of LED module highly depends on LEDs with a short lifetime. The mean time to failure (MTTF) was able to calculate with the experimental results under high temperature and the Arrhenius model. The results of this study could help companies to approve the warranty of LED modules and its product.

  • 본 논문에서는 무인 주행 저속 전기 자동차 시스템 개발을 위한 적외선 LED 라인트레이서를 제작하였다. 햇빛에 의한 영향을 제거하기 위해 적외선 LED를 펄스(pulse)로 구동시켰으며 흰색선에서 반사된 적외선 신호를 photodiode를 이용하여 감지하였다. 감지된 신호는 증폭단과 Peak Detector를 거쳐 최종적으로 AVR MCU로 입력이 된 후 여러 상황에 따른 차량의 방향을 결정할 수 있도록 알고리즘를 통해 처리하였다. 실험을 통하여 본 논문에서 제작한 라이트레이서 모듈이 원하는 방향으로 동작함을 확인하였다.

  • An infrared remote control-type transcutaneous control device using a $\mu$-processor is design for the totally implantable middle ear system. An infrared light transmission model for the tissue of skin was introduced and then a radiant intensity and the required current of the infrared light emitting diode(IR LED) driving circuit at transmission part were calculated for the external control device. And the transmission part generates IR signal by the system's own data protocol which prevents interferences from other infrared remote controls of the household appliances. The control part of the implanted device was designed to analyze functions of the received infrared(IR) signal that indicate the power ON/OFF and volume UP/DOWN. After the system is implemented, a data transmission experiments using 4 mm thickness of porcine skin were carried out. From the experiment, it was verified that the infrared control signal was transmitted to receiving module of the implemented system without any error.

  • 항공장애표시등은 항공기 운항에 위험을 초래할 수 있는 건물이나 구조물의 존재를 조종사에게 알리는 데 사용되는 등화이다. 본 논문은 조종사가 야간투시경(NVG)을 착용한 경우에도 식별이 가능한 적외선 LED 항공장애표시등의 개발 현황에 대해 연구하고자 한다.

Wound Recovery of Light Irradiation by White LED (백색 LED 조사의 상처 수복 효과)

  • Light can be divided into ultraviolet rays, visible rays, and infrared rays depending on the wavelengths. Visible rays with specific wavelength are those predominantly used for would treatment. Especially low level laser irradiates into cells, effectively stimulating cellular tissues and activating cellular function. This study was intended to verify the effect of white LED irradiation therapy on wound recovery in animal tests by applying white LED irradiator, which was independently designed and developed to emit beams of similar wavelength to that of a laser. The designed LED Irradiator was used to find out how white LED light source affected the skin wound of SD-Rat(Sprague-Dawley Rat). We divided the participants into two groups; white LED irradiation group which was irradiated 1 hour a day for 9 consecutive days, and none irradiation group. The results showed that the study group had lower incidence of inflammation and faster recovery, compared with the control group.

  • In this paper, we propose a sensor-based LED lighting system that can significantly reduce standby powers. The proposed LED lighting system has the more advanced power circuit and control mechanism compared to existing one. The whole power circuit consists of two subcircuits. One is designed to apply electric powers to controller, PIR(Pyroelectric Infrared Ray) sensor and CdS, and the other one is designed to apply electric powers to LED module. Such a power circuit configuration makes the standby powers reduction of LED lighting system possible. From the experimental results, we confirmed that the standby powers saving performance of the developed power circuit is superior to that of the conventional one.

  • In this paper, We studied LED(Light Emitted Diode) sensor lights system using PIR(Pyroelectric Infrared Ray) sensor, CdS and MCU(Micro Controller Unit). And applied the valley fill circuit to improve the power factor. We designed the amplifier for each sensor and the LED driver for constant current which is the buck converter. Also, we proposed the algorithm of LED control by each sensors using MCU. Experimental results showed that power factor is 92% with valley fill circuit.

  • Pulse oximetry, a non-invasive technique for evaluating blood oxygen saturation, conventionally depends on isolated measurements, rendering it vulnerable to factors like illumination profile, spatial blood flow fluctuations, and skin pigmentation. Previous efforts to address these issues through imaging systems often employed red and near-infrared illuminations with distinct profiles, leading to inconsistent ratios of transmitted light and the potential for errors in calculating spatial oxygen saturation distributions. While an integrating sphere was recently utilized as an illumination source to achieve uniform red and near-infrared illumination profiles on the sample surface, its bulkiness presented practical challenges. In this work, we have enhanced the pulse oximetry imaging system by transitioning illumination from an integrating sphere to a multi-wavelength LED configuration. This adjustment ensures simultaneous emission of red and near-infrared light from the same position, creating a homogeneous illumination profile on the sample surface. This approach guarantees consistent patterns of red and near-infrared illuminations that are spatially uniform. The sustained ratio between transmitted red and near-infrared light across space enables precise calculation of the spatial distribution of oxygen saturation, making our pulse oximetry imaging system more compact and portable without compromising accuracy. Our work significantly contributes to obtaining spatial information on blood oxygen saturation, providing valuable insights into tissue oxygenation in peripheral regions.

Effect of the Epoxy Mold on the Thermal Dissipation Behavior of LED Package (LED 패키지에서 에폭시 몰드가 방열특성에 미치는 영향)

  • LED package with 4[mm]-height mold was manufactured and the surface temperature was measured directly using both thermocouple and thermal infrared (IR) camera. FVM simulation was conducted to estimate the surface temperature of the same LED package under the same condition, by which the accuracy of the simulation was secured. Then, the effects of the height and thermal conductivity of the mold on the junction temperature of the LED package were investigated by FVM simulation. The results showed that the junction temperature decreased by 10[$^{\circ}C$] when the mold height was 3~5[mm], but the thermal conductivity of the mold didn't affect the junction temperature significantly.

A Human Body Sensing POWER LED Drive Circuit Using Constant-Current IC and PIR Sensor (PIR 센서와 정전류 IC를 이용한 인체 감지형 POWER LED 구동 회로)

  • 본 논문에서는 에너지 절감을 위하여 POWER LED 구동회로를 PIR(Pyroelectric Infrared Ray) 센서를 이용하여 ON/OFF 제어를 하였다. POWER LED의 전류 특성을 설명하였으며 설명된 전류 특성을 개선하고자 정전류 유지 회로를 구성하였다. 그리고 인체 감지 센서에서 발생되는 ON/OFF 신호를 증폭시키는 구동 회로를 설계하여 정전류 유지 회로에 직접 결합하는 방식을 제안하였다. 실험한 결과는 POWER LED의 ON 상태시 4Watt, OFF 상태시 0.5Watt를 소비하였으며, 정전류 유지 회로에 의해 POWER LED 구동 전류의 리플이 줄어들어 안정적인 동작을 하는 것으로 나타났다.
