Obesity is excess body weight, defined as a body mass index (BMI) over 30 kg/m2. or 20% over than relative body weight (RBW). We can consider the surface temperature of obesity patients is related with fat distribution and differs from that of non obesity people. The temperature is measured by using Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging(DITI). DITI was taken on 109 people without any specific disease. Among those subjects, obesity group is 77 and non obesity is 32. We measured the surface temperature by describing regular square on the upper arm, lower arm, palm, upper leg, lower leg, foot, upper abdomen and lower abdomen. The temperature of upper leg, upper abdomen and lower abdomen was low (p<0.001) and that of palm and foot was high (p<0.05) in obesity group. The temperature and the difference of lower arm to palm and lower leg to foot correlated with RBW. These results suggest the surface temperature in obesity group differ remarkably from that in non obesity group.
Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate DITI (Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging)'s potential for diagnosis and indicator of abdominal cold hypersensitivity treatment from the clinical case study. Methods: The patient was a 35-year-old woman who was suffered by general coldness, sweating and general pain. The patient was treated by Herb medicine, Acupuncture treatment, Moxa treatment and Physical Treatment. The progress of symptoms was evaluated by checking the change of VAS, and inspecting the DITI. We studied the statistical significance from the difference of DITI results before and after treatment by paired T-test using SPSS windows (version 12.0). Results: The general coldness, sweating and general pain of this patient have declined, especially the abdominal coldness improvement showing. As a results, the temperature of four abdominal sites(GV4,6,12,17) after treatment were statistically higher than those before treatment. With comparison of Indang, DITI difference of abdominal sites before and after treatment were statistically significant from paired T-tests. Conclusion: The results suggest that DITI can be used for the diagnosis and assessment of abdominal cold hypersensitivity treatment.
We examined a total of 166 images of $3.5{\mu}m\;H_3^+$ emission in the auroral regions of Jupiter observed with the Protocam on IRTF in 1991 and 1992, and found that 30 images contain a clearly isolated small emission patch in the vicinity of the northern auroral regions. Two different time sequences of the images show the small patches at the dusk limb in the range of System III longitudes from $270^{\circ}\;through\;0^{\circ}\;to\;90^{circ}$. The small patches in one sequence of the images, which were taken at 10 phase between $240^{\circ}\;and\;260^{\circ}$, may be related to the 10 flux tube, similarly suggested by Connerney et al. (1993). However, the small patches in the other sequence are separated from Io as much as $80^{\circ}$ in longitude. The positions of the small patches in both sequences are deviated equatorward from the 10 footprint oval by $5^{\circ}-8^{\circ}$ latitude in the longitudinal range of $270^{\circ}-360^{\circ}$. A significant modification is required in current Jovian magnetic field models near the Jupiter's surface if the small patches are produced at the foot of the 10 flux tube.
High redshift quasars (z > 5) hold keys to understanding the evolution of the universe in its early stage. Yet, the number of high redshift quasars uncovered from previous studies is relatively small (70 or so), and are concentrated mostly in a limited redshift range (z ~ 6). To understand the early mass growth of supermassive black holes and the final stage of the cosmic reionization, it is important to find a statistically meaningful sample of quasars with various physical properties. Here we present a survey for high redshift quasars at 5 < z < 7. Through color selection techniques using multi-wavelength data, we found quasar candidates and carried out imaging follow-up observations to reduce contaminants. After optical spectroscopy, we discovered eight new quasars. We obtained near-infrared spectra for 3 of these 8 quasars, measured their physical properties such as black hole masses and Eddington ratios, and found that the high redshift quasars we discovered are growing via accretion more vigorous than those of their lower redshift counterparts. We estimated the quasar number densities from our discoveries and compared them to those expected from the quasar luminosity functions in literature. In contrast to the observed number density of quasars at z ~ 5, which agrees with literature, the observed number density at z ~ 7 shows values lower than what is expected, even after considering an extrapolated number density evolution. We conclude that the quasar number density at z ~ 7 declines toward higher redshift, more steeply than the empirically expected evolution.
The hierarchical model of galaxy formation predicts that galaxy halos contain merger relics in the form of long stellar stream. Thus, tidal substructure of stars around globular clusters, such as tidal tails, could be an essential evidence of the merging scenario in the formation of the Galaxy. From April 2010 to December 2012, we obtained $45^{\prime}{\times}45^{\prime}$ wide-field JHKs near-infrared photometric imaging data for about 20 globular clusters in the Milky Way, and examined the stellar density distribution around globular clusters. Here, we introduce the preliminary results of stellar spatial distributions and radial surface density profiles of four globular clusters. In order to minimize the field star contamination and identify the cluster's member candidates stars, we used a statistical filtering algorithm and gave weights on the CMDs of globular clusters. In two-dimensional stellar density maps, we could found tidal stripping structures for some globular clusters. The orientation of tidal substructure seems to associate with the effects of dynamical interactions with the Galaxy and cluster's orbit. Indeed, the radial surface density profile accurately describes this stripping structures as a break in the slope of profile. The observational results could give us further observational evidence of merging scenario of the formation of the Galaxy.

We compiled a near-infrared photometric and polarimetric catalog of $5{\times}9$ fields (${\sim}39^{\prime}{\times}69^{\prime}$) in the eastern side of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). This catalog contains 9067 sources brighter than 16 mag in the J, H, and Ks bands, the polarization degree and position angle of each source. The photometric and polarimetric data were simultaneously obtained in J, H, and Ks bands using SIRPOL, an imaging polarimeter of the InfraRed Survey Facility (IRSF), in 2008 December and 2011 December. In this poster, we present a comparison between our results and those of Nakajima et al. (2007, PASJ, 59, 519) on the same sources in the 30 Doradus region in the LMC. We also discuss possible uncertainties in our polarimetric results when the Source Extractor is used to measure aperture photometry.
We describe a survey of quasars in the early universe beyond z=5, which is one of the main sciences of the Infrared Medium-deep Survey (IMS) performed by the Center for the Exploration of the Origin of the Universe (CEOU). We use multi-wavelength archival data such as SDSS, CFHTLS, UKIDSS, and SWIRE, which provide deep images over wide areas sufficient enough for searching high redshift quasars. In addition, we carried out a J-band imaging survey at the United Kingdom InfraRed Telescope (UKIRT) with a depth of ~23 AB and survey area of ~100 $deg^2$, which makes IMS the most suitable survey for finding high redshift quasars at z~7. Also for the quasar candidates at z~5.5, we are conducting observations with the Camera for QUasars in EArly uNiverse (CQUEAN), which are efficient for selecting robust quasar candidate samples in this redshift range. We used various color-color diagrams suitable to the specific redshift ranges, which can reduce the contaminating sources such as M/L/T dwarfs, low redshift galaxies, and instrumental defects. The high redshift quasars we are confirming can provide us with clues to the growth of super massive black holes since z~7. Also by expanding the quasar sample at 5

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Earth Observing System (EOS) Terra and Aqua satellites, launched in 1999 and 2002, is directly received by Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) ground station facility. BURI engineers develop a system to receive direct broadcast downlink from MODIS to provide near-realtime, remotely-sensed, spaceborne data to the user community in Korea. MODIS scans a swath width of 2330 km that is sufficiently wide to cover Korean peninsular, Yellow and East Sea at once. The MODIS has 36 spectral bands between 0.415 fm and 14.235 $\mu$m, i.e. through the visible into the thermal infrared. MODIS has been observed active fires, floods, smoke transport, dust storms, severe storms since February of 2000. The KARI is preparing for distribution of direct broadcasted MODIS data to users in Korea. The MODIS database system will be designed and developed by KARI engineer for data service from year of 2003. MODIS data user group will be organized from $\.{O}$ctober to December 2002.
