  • In this paper, we develop a PC adapter board and application software that do not use mouse or keyboard but the infrared communication, which can control the operation remotely. The infrared communication adapter is made up of the infrared receiver part and the serial communication interface part. The infrared receiver part creates a suitable scan-code using the received signal from the infrared transmitter (remote-controller). The serial communication interface part transmits the scan-code to PC by a serial communication. We implement its application softwares to listen to music and see movies. We can control their operations such as play, stop, pause and volume control remotely.

  • (A hybrid-type wireless infrared data communication module was fabricated by using the light emitting andabsorption diodes with the one-chip of integrated digital circuits. The light emitting diode with the peak spectrum of 850 nm was made from compound semiconductor material of AIGaAs and shows high speed signal transmission with the delay time of 60 nsec for the light direction angle of 30". The Si PIN photodiode showsthe good absorption rate for the range of wavelength of 450-1050 nm and convex-type epoxy lens was utilized for the spectrum filtering on the visible-range spectrum below 750 nm, The data transmission speed is 115.2 kbps and the fabricated module satisfies on the IrDA 1.0 SIR standard requirements.)ments.)

  • Existing input devices for desktop computers are not suitable for wearable computers because they are neither easy to carry nor convenient to use in a mobile working environment. Different input devices for wearable computers must be developed. In this paper, a wireless glove-based input device for wearable computers is proposed. The proposed input device consists of a pair of chording gloves. Its keys are mounted on the fingers and their chording methods are similar to those of a Braille keyboard. RF (Radio Frequency) and IrDA (Infrared Data Association) modules are used to make the proposed input device wireless. Since the Braille representation for numbers and characters is efficient and has been well established for many languages in the world, the proposed input device may be one of good input devices to computers. Furthermore, since the Braille has been used for visually impaired people, the proposed one can be easily used as an input device to computers for them.

  • 기존의 가정용 건강측정기는 기기만이 독립적으로 사용되거나 기기로부터 생체정보를 전송 받아 로컬 컴퓨터에서만 처리하는 시스템이 주를 이루었다. 본 논문에서는 가정용 건강측정기 중 혈당측정기를 적외선 통신(Infrared Communication, IrDA)으로 PocketPC에 연결하여 혈당정보를 전송받는다. 이러한 정보를 PocketPC용 CDMA(Code Multiple Access) 확장 팩을 이용하여 문자메시지(Short Message Service, SMS)로 다른 휴대폰에 전송하고, 무선 랜(WLAN, IEEE 802.11)을 이용하여 웹서버에 있는 게시판에 건강측정정보를 자동 등록 하여 정보를 공유할 수 있는 시스템을 구축하였다. 특히 비공개된 혈당측정기의 프로토콜을 분석하여 통신에 사용하였으며, API(Application Programming Interface)를 제공하지 않는 CDMA 확장팩 시스템의 사용자용 프로그램을 IPC(Inter Process Communication)를 이용한 제어를 통해 필요한 태스크를 수행하는 기법을 사용하였다.
